Chapter 11: ten; annoying deputies

Sagesse ☾ Derek Hale {2}Words: 7374

Stiles looks between Derek and I as we sit in front of the police station, "Okay, now the key to every cell are in a password protected lockbox in my father's office. The problem is getting past the front desk."

I look over to the window and see a woman standing at the desk, "I'll distract her."

I look to Derek with a raised eyebrow as he moves to open his door, "You'll what?"

Stiles turns to Derek and quickly grabs onto his sleeve pulling him back into the Jeep, "Whoa, whoa, whoa-you? You're not going in there," I watch from the backseat as Derek looks down menacingly at Stiles's hand, "I'm taking my hand off."

Although usually I would laugh at the exchange, I scoot further up onto the backseat and glare slightly at Derek.

"I was exonerated." He looks between the two of us before double taking to me. I don't remove my glare and it only worsens when he moves his gaze back to Stiles.

Stiles shrugs slightly, not understanding Derek's point, "You're still a person of interest."

"An innocent person." A loud laugh cuts through the silence after his words and it takes a second to realize it came from me.

I put a hand over my mouth and try to contain my laughter, "Innocent?"

Derek just sends me a blank look before Stiles's joins my taunting, "You? You're kidding?" Derek then turns and deeply glares at him before Stiles sighs deflated.

"Okay, fine. What's your plan?"

"To distract her." I raise an eyebrow at his simple answer, but I know that if he goes any more in depth I most likely will not be liking it.

Stiles rolls his eyes at his broadness, "Uh-huh. How? By punching her in the face?" He makes a not so mean looking face and grunts lightly. I laugh lightly at the sight from the backseat.

Derek sighs annoyed, "Ha, by talking to her."

I raise my eyebrow even further and lean between the seats and face him, "Just gonna talk to her, huh? That's it? Just a little chat?"

His eyes meet mine before flashing to Stiles behind me, as if reminding me he's in the car with us. I heavily roll my own and lean back between them.

"Okay, all right. Give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?" Stiles states at Derek expectedly, but he doesn't say a single thing. "Dead silence. That should work beautifully. Any other ideas?"

He looks to me and I shrug still annoyed at this whole plan.

Derek looks up with a thoughtful look before turning back to Stiles, "I'm thinking about punching you in the face."

I shove both of their shoulders in annoyance, "Just go. If we have to do this dumb ass plan let's get it moving."

I jump down from the Jeep and feel a hand lay against my lower back. Derek guides me around the car before the warmth from his hand leaves at the sight of Stiles starring at us oddly.

I walk into the station behind the two, then Stiles and I stay behind the one closed door as Derek moves to the front desk. The same woman from before strolls out while reading a file, "Good evening, how can I help-" Her dull voice raises slightly as her eyes catch sight of Derek, "You?"

I feel my eyes squint as I glare at her unknowingly from across the room. Why she's so interested all of the sudden?

I feel my pulse raise and I inhale deeply as Derek smiles brightly at the woman, "Hi,"

Oh god, did my heart just stop? This is it. This is how I die.

Why the hell is he so god damn hot?!

Stiles looks back to me and his eyes widen at the awestruck look on my face, "Seriously?!"

I shush him and grab his chin turning his attention back to the very hot male, and very annoying, woman in front of us.

Derek naturally, and flawlessly, leans against the desk, "Um, I had a question. Um, sorry I'm a little-a little thrown. I wasn't really expecting someone-"

Stiles's hand grabs my wrist and he starts to pull me from behind the door. We stick against the wall as the Deputy's attention his solely on Derek, "Like me?"

Stiles passes into the next room without any issue and I just about make it to the door before Derek speaks again, "Oh, I was gonna say 'so incredibly beautiful', but, yeah, I guess that'd be the same thing."

I stop still and feel my jaw drop at his words. That sly little shit. His eyes glance to mine and his smile grows the tiniest bit before he looks back to the deputy. Before I can think anymore, Stiles grabs my hand and yanks me into the next room.

I follow him into the unlit room that is his dad's office and I cross my arms waiting for him to unlock the key box. I hear multiple clicks of buttons, but the box continues to stay closed, "Stiles, what's happening?"

I jump at the sound of keys rattling against the door as it's being unlocked.

"Shit," I grab his sleeve and we take off to hide from whoever is on the other side of the door.

We leave through another door and quickly start going down another hall. I continuously look behind us as we move. I stop suddenly and clash into Stiles's back. I peer over his shoulder to see a cop sanding in front of Stiles with a serious look.

"Uh, just looking, um-" Stiles stutters as he tries to make up an excuse, but my eyes lower to the officers legs and that's when I notice an all too familiar arrow protruding from it. Without thinking I reach out and sucker punch the guy in the face.

"Oh shit!" I pull Stiles away, but the man suddenly grips the back of his shirt and yanks him to the floor. I raise my arms to block my face as he moves to punch me, but then he moves quickly and lands a blow to my stomach. I groan and gasp as the air rushes from my lungs. He reaches down and starts to drag me and Stiles by our arms. Before I can even inhale enough air to yell, he places his hand roughly over my mouth.

I continuously fight him, but it's only seconds before he stops dragging us and we both fall to the ground. The fire alarm suddenly starts ringing loudly as Stiles had manage to pull it during our struggling.

I get to my feet as quick as I can. I stop moving when I notice the door to the cell busted open and the room empty. I let a low slow breath of air as the realization sets in.

Isaac got out.

I jump back as Isaac's blurred body suddenly comes flying out of no where and shoves the fake deputy into a table next to us. I reach down and grab Stiles pulling him away from the two fighting.

Isaac throws him against the opposite side of the room and he collides with a wall roughly. In my state of slight shock Stiles pulls me over to a desk a few feet away and we both crouch behind it. This obviously will not keep us out of harms way-it's a full moon and if Isaac wants to find, us he will.

Isaac grips the mans arm until the syringe full of poison falls onto the floor. Within seconds it's crushed under a shoe and I let out a sigh of relief as I see Derek standing just feet away. My relief slightly fades as I realize my sigh caught Isaac's attention, and his crazed eyes are now locked with mine.

I stand slowly as he begins to move towards me, but quickly Derek steps in front of me. His eyes go full alpha red and he lets out a growl. Isaac suddenly falls to the floor and cowers away from Derek against a wall.

I let out another sigh as I feel Derek's arm come around me and pull me closer. I honestly don't care if Stiles is witnessing this; I'm just happy Derek is here.

Instead of looking between us, Stiles stares at Derek with wide eyes, "How did you do that?"

Derek turns back to Isaac, who had thankfully shifted back, briefly, "I'm the Alpha."
