I see Mr. Winters wearing a grey pea jacket and a nice dress shirt underneath with khaki pants. Damn, he looks good even when he's not wearing a suit. I fake smile, trying not to admire how good his legs look in those pants.
"Hey, Mr. Winters," I hear Violet laugh.
"It looks like you're not too happy to see him," I roll my eyes. I see Mr. Winters look at Violet and look at me.
"I'll go inside and let you love birds be," I roll my eyes, and Mr. Winters looks at me. I wrap the blanket tighter.
"So, that's the famous sister you've been talking about all week," I smile.
"I thought you weren't listening to me when I talked," I hear him chuckle.
"I always listen," I start to blush and look away. I clear my throat.
"So, what brings you to my sister's house?" I look up and catch him looking at the blanket I'm wearing.
"I wanted to give you something," I see him turn around and grab something from his car. Whatever you do Evangeline, don't stare at his ass. Don't stare at that luscious glorious model's buttocks. I try to look away, but my eyes won't let me. I see him turn around, holding a white box with a red bow.
"For me?" I chuckle.
"Open it," I grab the box and open it. I unwrap the paper on top and see my dress from my birthday. I laugh.
"This is what you came all this way for?"
"That and this," Mr. Winters pulls out my pearl necklace from his pocket. I feel my neck, and it's missing. He hands it to me.
"I found it on my kitchen floor this morning. I thought I'd personally deliver it to you since you did search for it once in only a towel. You might want to get that hook looked at," I roll my eyes.
"Thanks for reminding me of that embarrassing moment," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"Don't be embarrassed. I find it enthusing having you on my bed in a towel. Maybe we should do it again sometime?" I laugh.
"Only you, Mr. Winters, would find that enthusing, and is that a date I hear?"
"Possibly. If you're willing to take it," I look away.
"I don't know. I'm still a little hurt from you saying nothing the other day," I look into Mr. Winters's smokey blue eyes and see sorrow. I hear him chuckle.
"I wondered where my favorite pair of pajamas went to," I look at him and smile.
"Well, I had to get something that matched the blanket. Plus, you didn't get me pants," Mr. Winters chuckles. I hear a car door slam.
"EE!" I look over and see Kayla and Tia running at me. They both jump on me and hug me.
"I've missed you girls so much!" I say and hear Kayla gasp.
"Is this Uncle Winters?!" They both tackle Mr. Winters, giving him a bear hug.
"Girls! Get off Mr. Winters!" I see both of them get off Mr. Winters. I hear Mr. Winters laughing.
"We're sorry, Uncle Winters. We heard about the baby and got so excited," I see Mr. Winters look at me, and my stomach sank. Shit. This isn't the way I planned to tell him.
"That's right, girls. Momma has a baby in her tummy. You two are going to be big sisters!" They both jump on Violet giving her a big hug. Relief flies over me. I look at Mr. Winters. I see him not angry, but surprisingly calm.
"I better get going. I'll see you around, EE," I roll my eyes.
"I'll see you around, Winty Pooh," I smile and see Mr. Winters get into the car. I watch him drive off.
"You're thinking it aren't you?" I look at Violet.
"Thinking of what?"
"Come on. You know what I'm talking about," I roll my eyes.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I see Violet roll her eyes.
"You know. Evangeline Winters. It does have a nice ring to it," I roll my eyes and go inside. Huh, Evangeline Winters.
I look around and see Charlotte lying on the couch on the phone.
"I know right? I'll probably be there next week. Are you going to see me?" I jump on her.
"Ahoy, Charlotte," I see her jump and cover the phone on her shirt.
"Holy shit, Evangeline. You scared me half to death. You shouldn't be jumping on me like that when you're pregnant!" I roll my eyes.
"The baby will be fine. Plus, I wanna who you were on the phone with?" I hear Charlotte say nothing and go back on the phone.
"I got to go. I'll call you later," I see Charlotte hang the phone up.
"So, you going to tell me?"
"Okay, don't be mad, but I'm kinda talking to someone."
"Really?! Who!?"
"That's the part I'm afraid you'll get mad about. It's the guy from the club. We bumped into each other, and I was about to fight him, but he wanted to apologize instead. Next thing I know, we hit it off," I fake smile.
"I'm not angry. It's not the worst thing that happened today to me. Violet's kids called Mr. Winters's Uncle and jumped on him to hug him. They also almost told him I was pregnant," I see Charlotte's face shocked.
"So, you really are pregnant! When are you going to tell Mr. Winters because if he found out, he'd get really mad," I sigh.
"I know, and of course I am. I promise I'll tell Mr. Winters tomorrow."
"Tell who what?" I see Violet coming in, dragging in the girls.
"Go to your room and play. No more outside," I see the girls run upstairs as Violet is catching her breath, tired.
"Now, what were you saying?"
"I'm going to tell Mr. Winters that I'm pregnant tomorrow," I see Violet's face light up.
"That's great!" I look at Charlotte and then back at Violet.
"I was also thinking about going back home after tomorrow," I see Violet look sad.
"Already? You have the rest of the week off, though," I sigh.
"I might go back to work on Friday. You know, to try and get more hours in. Plus, I have to look for a new apartment because it's time for a change, and I'm tired of the owner harassing me."
"I can take care of looking for a new apartment."
"You will?"
"Yeah. Of course. You already have enough stress on your plate. It's the least I can do," I hug Charlotte.
"Thanks. You're the best!"
"Okay, now shoo you two. I need some time alone to call Elias," I look at Charlotte, confused as hell.
"That's the dude's name? Elias?" I hear her laugh.
"Yep. Dreamy name, isn't it?" I look at her disgusted.
"If you say so," I roll my eyes. My stomach quenches all day as the only thing on my mind is telling Mr. Winters. My gut feeling tells me something wrong is going to happen. There's only one way to find out.
My heart races as I step out of Violet's car.
"Hurry up and get out. Just rip the bandaid off clean. I'll be here when you're done," I nod at Violet and wipe the sweat off my palms. Well, here goes nothing. I go to the gate and ring the bell.
"Can I help you?" I hear an unfamiliar deep man's voice say from the speaker.
"Hi, I'm here to speak to Mr. Winters."
"Do you have an invitation?" He quickly replies.
"No, but I really need to talk to him," I hear him sigh.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but I can't let you in without an invitation," I sigh.
"Can you at least give a message to him for me? I'd be really grateful if you could tell him that Evangeline Stone needs to talk to him about something important," I hear silence from the speaker. A buzzing noise comes from the gates, and they open. Wow, that was fast.
I walk up the driveway and up to the house. Damn, I hate this long ass driveway. I ring the doorbell, and Mrs. D answers the door.
"Evangeline! It's nice to see you again, darling!" Mrs. D hugs me, and I hug her back.
"What brings you here this early in the morning? Did you come to eat some breakfast?" I laugh.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. D, but I came to talk to Mr. Winters. Is he home?" I see her smile.
"He's in his office. I can call him down if you want?" I smile.
"No, that'll be fine. Can you take me to his office?"
"Of course! Follow me, sweetheart," I walk behind Mrs. D as she walks up the stairs and down the long hallway, stopping at a room.
"This is his office," I see her knock on the door.
"Winters, you have a visitor," I see him looking at a laptop and typing.
"Go ahead, dear, don't be shy," I walk into the room. I see Mr. Winters look up and close the laptop.
"How can I help you, Evangeline?" I look at Mr. Winters seriously.
"Is there some way we can talk in private?" I see Mr. Winters get up, walk to the door, and close it.
"This room is soundproof, and the most private room in the house. So, what's important you needed to talk to me about?" I take a breath. Here goes nothing. Remember, just rip the bandaid off clean.
"I'm pregnant," I see Mr. Winters's eyes wide, and his body freeze.
"You're pregnant?!" I hear him say angrily.
"Yes," I respond softly.
"I thought every woman your age was on birth control," His voice starting to change deeper.
"Well, obviously I'm not."
"Of course you're not, since you're already pregnant! Why the hell didn't you use Plan B?!"
"I forgot to take it," His eyes get more angry.
"You forgot to take it! How the fuck do you forget to take it! Honestly, Evangeline, how stupid can you be to forget to take it?!" I furrow my brow. There's no way this man just called me stupid.
"Why didn't you use a condom? You would think a big successful businessman would use a condom when they have sex?! Especially, while having sex WITH A STRIPPER!"
"How do you know it's mine?" I roll my eyes.
"Because I was a virgin before I had sex with you. What do you think me of, some kind of whore?"
"You must be if you opened your legs so easily."
"How dare you say that! You know it was a part of my job, and who knows what could have happened to my job if I declined!"
"Obviously you wouldn't be PREGNANT!" I see Mr. Winters make a fist with his hands.
"Oh?! It's that simple, huh?! Why didn't you decline? Oh, wait! You didn't. You were more focused on getting your way than anything else!" Mr. Winters looks me dead in the eyes.
"Get rid of it. I don't care how you do it, but do it," I chuckle.
"Oh no, Mr. Winters. You do not tell me what to do with MY body. I'm going to keep my child."
"If you think I'm going to pay child support or pay you for this child, you have a whole case of the finest lawyers coming right at you," I get close to him and look him dead in the eyes.
"Money? You think this is about money?! I don't want any of your pathetic useless money. I don't need your money, or even think about wanting your money. In fact, I don't want anything to do with you. MY child is NEVER going to meet you, or have anything to do with you!"
"You're lucky I'm even telling you, since you are the FATHER. Most mothers don't tell their baby daddies about their child until they find out when they're kid size. THIS is MY child! I wouldn't get rid of MY baby for the world. When I leave today, I NEVER want to see your face out of work again! I don't regret ever meeting and having sex with you to make this child, but it sure was stupid of me to ever LIKE you!" I swallow the lump in my throat and feel warm tears start to fall down my cheeks.
I turn around and quickly walk out of the room. I walk down the hallway. I hear glass crashing coming from where I once was as I go down the stairs.
