"Mrs. Stone?" I smile at the young brown-haired and brown-eyed women.

"Yes. That's me," She smiles at me.

"My name's Candy. I'll be taking you to the interview. I have the perfect spot for you, but I have to warn you. The boss is strict. You'll be perfect for assisting him. If you're willing take it."

"Oh, yes! I've been with a strict boss before, so I can handle it," I see Candy smile.

"Come follow me, and I'll introduce you to him," Candy gets up from her front desk and walks to two big polished black doors. I hear her knock.

"Sir, the new assistant is here. I'd like to introduce you to her."

"Send her in," His deep voice makes my stomach squeeze from nervousness. Candy opens the doors, walks in, and I follow her.

"Mr. Winters, I'd like you to meet Evangeline Stone. She will be your new assistant," The name shoots up my spine, and my heart starts racing. Mr. Winters? Oh no. I see an unfamiliar handsome man turn around in his seat and smile at me.

"Hello, there. Welcome to Mr. Winters's industry. I'm Hunter Winters, one of the founders of the Winters industry," I see Mr. Winters get up and walk to me. He holds his hand out to shake. Relief washes over me as I shake his hand. I look at his brown hair and into his ocean-blue eyes.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Winters, sir. My name's Evangeline Stone," I see him smile at me. I smile back.

"I'll leave you two alone," Candy smiles at me and Mr. Winters. I watch as she leaves the room.

"Please, take a seat," I see Mr. Winters gesture to a frost-white chair in front of his desk. I sit down as I watch him sit in his chair. I see him grab a file off his desk and open it.

"So, Mrs. Stone. I hear you've had a lot of work experience. Can you explain to me what your past work was like?" I gulp.

"Well, for starters I worked as a stripper for five years with no call-in or any no-show. I worked a night shift from 2 pm through 12 pm every night."

"A stripper? What made you want to quit?" I see him look confuse at me.

"Yes. A stripper. The reason I quit is quite the opposite of what you think it would be. Don't get me wrong, I loved being a stripper, but I quit because business management was changing, and I didn't like it. It was being bought out by a new owner. He had certain rules that I didn't like. So, I decided it was time for a change for me and my child."

"I see on your resume, you put you're pregnant. Is that going to get in the way of you being slow?" I laugh.

"Yes. I am pregnant. Four months, actually, and no. It won't be a problem. I'm not going to be slow or be a hassle. I'll be as normal as any worker," I see Mr. Winters grin.

"That's great news. Welcome aboard, Mrs. Stone. I'm sure you will be a valuable asset to this company," I smile.

"Thank you so much for this opportunity, Mr. Winters. I won't let you down!" Mr. Winters stands up for a handshake. I stand up and hug him. His cologne and natural smell feel warm. My eyes widen I realize what I've done. I let go of him.

"I'm so sorry, sir. I promise it won't happen again. I got two excited and-" I hear him laughing. I swear his laugh sounds so familiar to someone else's.

"It's quite okay, Mrs. Stone. It's just a hug. I'm not that strict when it comes to hugging, but if you see my brother around. Do not hug him."

"How will I tell who your brother is," Mr. Winter smiles.

"You'll know when you see him," He winks at me, and I roll my eyes.

"It was nice to meet you, Mr. Winters, and thank you again for this opportunity," I curtsy and walk out of the room, making sure the door is closed.

I jump up and down in excitement. I see Candy laughing at me. Embarrassed, I wave at her. I see her walk up to me.

"It looks like someone is excited. Did you get the job," I smile at her.

"Oh, yes!" Candy smiles.

"Well, I'd be happy to show you around if you'd like. You'd also get paid for looking around because you're getting introduced to everything," I chuckle.

"I would love it if you showed me around," Candy smiles bigger.

"Great! Follow me, and I'll show you around the whole building! We'll start here on the second floor, where you can check in with me to start your work day," Candy goes behind her desk and starts typing on her computer. I look around her desk and see pictures of her with a cute little boy and a tall ugly guy. I smile.

"Is that your family?" Candy looks up at me pointing to the picture and she smiles.

"Yes, it is. That's my husband and my little boy."

"If you don't mind me asking, how long have you guys been married?" Candy smiles.

"Not at all! I love talking about my little family. I've been with my husband for six years. My little boy is going to turn six next month. How far along are you?" I smile holding my stomach.

"I'm four months in and enjoying every moment of it. How did you know I was pregnant?" I hear Candy chuckle.

"A mother knows when another woman's pregnant," I chuckle.

"Well, it must be true," Candy smiles.

"Are you married?" I smile

"No. I never was. Me and the baby's father had a one-night stand. His fathers dead," Lying, not wanting anyone to know the truth. Candy looks serious at me.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know," I chuckle.

"It's okay," I hear Candy type more.

"It seems like you're in the file already, which is strange because it usually takes people a couple of days for you to get approved by the bosses. Well, since you're in the system already, let's get you going and on the tour," I smile.

"Sounds great!" Candy leads me around the second floor, the main floor while showcasing the break room and the offices.

"Now, the break room is on every floor, usually in the same spot, but the cafeteria is on the first floor. I've tried to complain to the bosses that we need another cafeteria, but it never goes through. You can also eat at your desk during break, but you're not allowed to eat at your desk other than break time. The main offices of the bosses are on the 52nd and 53rd floor. I know it's confusing, but they have a small office on each of the floors to watch over the workers," I follow Candy into the elevator to the 53rd floor.

"Here is our highest floor where you will be working. Let me show you to your own personal workspace," I follow Candy while walking past lines of people working on their computers and in their little cubby.

"Here is your workspace with your own computer. You will be working here from now on. You can go ahead and donate your little spot," Candy shows me an empty desk with only a computer a couple of spaces away from a wall with two large doors.

"I notice you're looking at the doors over there. That's Mr. Winters's office. You can go inside and introduce yourself if you want to. You'll be working mainly for him anyways."

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to step in and say hi since I'm going to be working for him," I see Candy smile.

"I have to warn you, again, he's very strict and doesn't like people slacking, or not working," Candy knocks on the door.

"Mr. Winters, I have a new worker that I'd like you to meet."

"Come in," His deep warming familiar voice squeezes my stomach. Please don't be him. Please don't be him.

"Mr. Winters, I'd like you to meet, Evangeline Stone. She will be working as one of your new researchers and assistants," His smokey-blue dreamy eyes look up at me through his coal-black mask. I fake smile as he stands up from his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Winters, sir," I hold my hand out for him to shake. He walks towards me, towering over me, making my heart pound.

"It's nice to meet you, Evangeline," Mr. Winters shakes my hand.

"You look familiar. Have we met before?" I roll my eyes at the comment. I clear my throat, forgetting he's my boss.

"Um, I don't think so. Maybe you've seen my brother before. He is a twin of me," I smile, knowing I'm bringing up the past. I hear him chuckle. I turn to Candy.

"Are you ready for the rest of the tour?" Candy smiles at me.

"Whenever you are," I smile at her.

"I can take over the tour for you Candy," I look at Mr. Winters. Motherfucker!

"I think Candy's doing a great job at showing me around, but thank you for the offer, Mr. Winters," I fake smile at him.

"What best way to get the full tour of the building then from me? Please, I insist as your new boss to give you the tour," I sigh and fake smile.

"Sounds great!" I look at Candy and she smiles at me.

"If you need me, here's my number. Feel free to give me a call anytime you want to chat or need help," Candy hands me a piece of paper with her number on it and I smile.

"Thank you so much, Candy. It was a pleasure to meet you," I hug Candy and she hugs me back.

"It feels like the little one is kicking me away," I chuckle.

"He does that whenever I hug anyone. I guess he's not a hugger, but that doesn't matter. Momma is a hugger," Candy laughs and I laugh too.

"I'll see you later," I wave to her as I watch her step out and close the doors to Mr. Winters's office. I turn to Mr. Winters.

"It's a boy?" I roll my eyes.

"Yes, he's a boy. MY boy. You don't want anything to do with you with him, remember? You wanted to give him up, remember?" I take a breath.

"If therapy has taught me one thing, it's forgiveness, and I forgive you. But that doesn't mean I'm not still mad at you. Now, I'm going to start over where I don't know you because I need this job to support my child," Mr. Winters looks into my eyes.

"You went to therapy?" I sigh.

"Yes. Not because of you. Well, somewhat because of you, but because of my past. Like I've said before, there's a lot you don't know about me, Mr. Winters," He holds my face with one hand. His hand comforts my cheek.

"I'm not a man of many words, but I want to say I'm sorry," I snap out of the comfort zone he brought me to and push his hand away from my face.

"Like I said before, Mr. Winters. I forgive you for all the damage you have done. Now, let's keep this professional, and get on with the tour," Mr. Winters opens the door.

"Ladies first," I roll my eyes and walk out the door as Mr. Winters holds it open for me.

I see everyone looking towards my way and behind me at Mr. Winters.

"I will be back in fifteen minutes. As you were everyone," I hear Mr. Winters say behind me and see everyone look back at their computers. Typing fills the room as Mr. Winters, and I walk past everyone with an occasional glance from one of the workers. Mr. Winters goes towards the stairs, and I stand next to the elevator.

"I can't use the stairs. I'm pregnant, remember?" Mr. Winters walks towards me and pushes the elevator button in front of me. I get on the elevator, and he gets in after me, standing close to me. His aroma fills my nose, bringing back memories. I scoot a little away from him, hoping he doesn't notice.
