-Evangeline-

"I have a past, so what? I'm sure you have a past of men, too," I look at Mr. Winters angry.
"How dare you say that! You knew I was a virgin, and before I even met you, I've only had ONE boyfriend. I don't care how many women you've had before me, but the fact you keep it locked up in your desk and keep getting magazines about it without even telling me is disgraceful. We're a couple! You're not supposed to hide ANYTHING from me! You're supposed to trust me! Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do," I walk out of the office, walking fast down the hallway.
I go down the stairs and walk into a room that has books covering all the walls. This might be the library. I slam my books and notebook on a desk and wipe a tear from my eye. I sit down in the chair and take a deep breath.
I open my notebook and books. I read a line from the book before I realizing I've read the same passage three times and got something from it. Damn, it, Evangeline! Get your head out of the clouds. I lean my face into my hands, covering it.
"You're not going to find anything out of that book," I lift my face and look behind me, seeing Mr. Winters. He walks to a bookshelf, grabs a book, and sets it down on the desk in front of me.
"If you're researching, or working on a child custody case, you have to read about child custody law, not a regular contract of law," I sigh and stand up. I hug Mr. Winters, and he wraps his arms around me as I lay my head on his chest.
His vibrant cologne fills my nose, and my eyes start to water. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I can be mad at him. Tears start to stray away.
"I'm sorry for what I said," I feel Mr. Winters's hand tuck a piece of hair behind my ear.
"I know this is more than just the magazines. What happened, love?" I sniff my nose.
"Today, Violet told me about you. She told me you were a player, and that you've been with twenty-seven women this year," I lift my head, and look him in the eyes.
"Is it true?" I hear him sigh.
"Yes. It's true. When I first started the business, I used to be a player with my brother. Now that I've met you, and I don't need any other women in my life," I lay my head on his chest and sigh in relief.
"This whole week has been hell without you. Work has been a living hell since your brother was my main boss. He's been ordering me around like his personal assistant. The other day, I caught him flirting with Charlotte. I was really shocked about that, but not as shocked as finding out him and Candy being a thing," I look up at him.
"Did you know?"
"Sadly, yes. They have been a thing for quite a while now," I wipe my face with my hands.
"You also haven't texted, or called me all week," Mr. Winters looks at me with sorrowful eyes.
"I'm not used to having someone to text, or call," I look him in the eyes.
"Well, now you do. So, get used to it because I'm going to care and worry about you all the time," Mr. Winters chuckles.
"Not to mention, he's been flirting with me all week and trying to get into my pants. I don't know how many times I've rejected him this week. I nearly barfed when he was trying to whisper seductively into my ear when I was trying to bake. I had to push his ass outside because I was tired of him," I see Mr. Winters's hand form a tight fist. I cup his face with one hand.
"You don't have to worry about it. I'm yours and only yours. You can deal with him later. Right now you should go and enjoy your party," Mr. Winters looks at me confused.
"Are you not coming?" I chuckle.
"You go ahead and go without me. I have too much work to catch up on," I sit down in the chair.
"Are you sure?" I chuckle.
"Yes. You deserve some time to rest and relax after that big trip," Mr. Winters pulls up a chair next to mine.
"I'm not going anywhere without my woman. Your work is my work so, what do you have so far?" I smile.
I pull out printed papers from my notebook and flip to a page. I hand Mr. Winters a paper and show him my notebook.
"Well, for starters, I have proof that Dave isn't a proper parent fitting the children," I flip the notebook paper and hand him three papers.
"Second, I have a solid argument as to why Dave's actions are unreasonable. Dave goes to the club after work every day. Every. Single. Day. No skip days, or even if he's not working, he goes to the strip club. There's more to see, but too much to explain. It gets pretty complicated," I hand the printed papers and watch as Mr. Winters flips through the paperwork and my notebook.
"You did all of this in a week?"
"Well, yeah. It's not much, but it's something to work with," Mr. Winters chuckles.
"What do you mean it's not much? It's amazing," I watch him flip to the last page and snatch the notebook away from him.
"Don't look at that," I tear the page out, crumble it up, and throw it in a corner.
"Evangeline, what was that?" I look at my notebook and bite my bottom lip.
"Nothing!" I watch Mr. Winters stand up and walk towards the paper. I bite my finger as he grabs it.
"As you said, we shouldn't hide things from each other," I swallow as I watch him open the paper.
"Evangeline Winters. Evangeline London Winters. Mrs. Evangeline London Winters," I hear Mr. Winters say slowly. I stand up and grab the paper from his hand.
"See, it's nothing!" I turn back and sit in the chair, my cheeks burning red like a cherry. I clear my throat.
"We should finish working. I'm also behind on my work at the office. I've been so distracted with this case that I haven't had time to finish my office work."
"As you wish, Mrs. Winters," I whip my head at him.
"I- I'm...I'm not sure what you're talking about," I look at my papers and organize them. Mr. Winters sits next to me, and I lean my head on his shoulder.
"I know it's ridiculous, but Violet told me when she first started dating Dave, she used to be so in love with him that she used to write her name with his last name," I chuckle.
"Now that I think of it, it's embarrassing," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"I think it's cute," I roll my eyes and lift my head.
"Only you, Mr. Winters, would-" I look at him, not realizing he took off his mask, stopping from gazing upon his gorgeous face.
"Would what, Mrs. Winters?" Damn it, he knows what effect he has on me.
"W- would-" He leans slowly into my face, pressing his lips against mine. He backs away, slowly.
"Mr. Winters, I-"Â He presses his lips against mine again. I wrap my arms around his head, and I smile.
"I missed those lips," He lifts me at my waist, like I weigh nothing, and places me on his lap with my legs around his body. I kiss his soft lips again and pull away slowly.
"I- I think we should continue this another time. You know what they say," I lean close to his ear.
"Business before pleasure," I feel his hands slide on my ass, and I squeal as I feel them squeeze.
"You're right, but I would say watching you work and being so focused on it, makes me want to do many bad things to you right now," I bite my lip, thinking about all the things we could do.
I remove my legs, begging to stay on him. I sit in my chair with my legs shaking. I take a deep breath.
"What's wrong, Mrs. Winters? Can't hold your legs still?" Mr. Winters teases.
"Shut up."
I finish writing down my outro.
"There! We did it! All that's left is to find physical evidence and print the papers to send to Stephanie," I look out the window.
"The party's still going?" Mr. Winters chuckles.
"Of course. When my brother throws a party, it goes all night," I smile.
"Then we still have time to make an appearance. Let me use the restroom real quick, and we can go out," I get up from my chair and walk into the restroom.
I close the door and lock it quietly. I quickly get my makeup bag out of my purse and set it on the sink. One thing from stripping is putting on a good face of makeup in under three minutes. After putting on a fresh face of paint, I use the restroom. I dry my hands from washing them and walk out of the restroom and into the library, seeing Mr. Winters with his mask on and adjusting his tie from undoing it when working.
"You ready?" Mr. Winters looks up at me.
"You put on a full face of makeup already?" I laugh as I put on a pair of black heels.
"You're wearing heels, too? This must be a special occasion because you hate wearing heels," I laugh.
"Well, it is your day," Mr. Winters walks towards me and pulls me close to him.
"It's our day, love," He removes his mask and kisses my lips.
"You're going to get lipstick on your lips if you keep kissing me," Mr. Winters laughs.
"I don't care about lipstick. I'd kiss your lips with lipstick, or not and let the world know then be able to not kiss your lips," Mr. Winters kisses my lips again. I cup his cheek with my hand while enjoying the passionate kiss. I pull away slowly, seeing the red lipstick on his lips. I smile and laugh.
"Let's go give the guests something to talk about," I help adjust Mr. Winters's mask on his face and look into his smokey-blue eyes.
"I've missed those smokey-blue eyes so much," Mr. Winters chuckles as he wraps his arm around my waist.
We walk out the backdoor to the party, seeing the full effect of the fancy lights lighting the backyard.
"The backyard looks gorgeous," Mr. Winters chuckles.
"Wait until you see how much Mrs. Dontia cooked. She made these amazing brownies that I think you should try," I chuckle.
"I made the brownies and supper. It took me almost a couple of hours, but it was worth it slapping everyone's hand away as they begged for a bite. Oh! One more thing," I walk back inside and grab the apple pie from the fridge. I walk outside and show the apple pie to Mr. Winters.
"I made you this because you're my apple pie," I hear Mr. Winters chuckle.
"You're more perfect than apple pie," I laugh.
"Come on, love," I'll cut you a slice. I lead Mr. Winters to the table of desserts and cut him a piece of pie. I hand him the pie on the plate.
"You sure picked a good woman, brother," I turn around and see Hunter with Charlotte wrapped around his arm.
Mr. Winters wraps his arm around my waist, pulling me close to him.
"I'm impressed that you've had a woman this long and haven't shown her to our parents. After all, I'm sure they would LOVE to meet her," Hunter looks at me with daring eyes, and I feel Mr. Winters's arm tense. His parents? I lay my head on Mr. Winters's shoulder.
"Mr. Winters will introduce me to his parents when the time is right, otherwise, we're happy where we are now. There's no need to rush," I kiss Mr. Winters's cheek, and I feel his tension at ease.
"Come on, love. Let's go dance," I set Mr. Winters's pie down and pull his hand to the dance floor.
