Wow
The first word that came to mind the moment I caught sight of Jesse.
Every step she took radiated elegance and beauty.
I was completely enchanted by her and I couldn't look away.
The moment her eyes caught mine, I felt my heart constrict.
Though my gaze didn't waiver once, I simply couldn't look away even if I tried to.
The way her eyes trailed down my appearance made goosebumps arise on my skin.
I watched as her tongue caressed her bottom lip igniting something feral within me.
I had to hold myself back from kissing her until she was breathless.
Does she feel it too?
This tension between us that could be cut with a knife.
This palpable heat sizzled in the air and we continued to stare at one another in some sort of trance.
This invisible tether that seems to be drawing us closer to one another.
Just as I was about to take a step in her direction Talia announced the taxi was here.
Disappointment filled me as Jesse's gaze flickered away from mine, her steps moving away from me.
Another missed opportunity.
Though her eyes left mines, mines didn't leave hers not even for a moment.
"You know you can't stare at her all night,"
West said as he came beside me a glass of champagne in his hand.
It's been over an hour since we've been in the gala and I'm genuinely impressed with the fact that we have yet to get caught.
Though I haven't thought much about that as the only person I had on my mind was currently walking over to the bar.
My eyes trailed down to her long legs that elegantly crossed the floor, her stance confident, attracting the attention of all those she passed.
Much to my dismay
I thought as I spotted the lustful gazes some men sent her way, though she paid them no mind.
"Well," West said my attention drifting over to him.
"I know, but I have yet to find the right time to talk to her," I replied with a small sigh.
I ran my hand through my hand in frustration at the fact three days have gone by and I have yet to make things right.
"Your problem is that you're trying to find the perfect timing when in reality there is no perfect timing," West spoke
I felt myself nod in agreement as his words seeped in.
"Don't wait for an opening, make your own because if you don't do something now, you may lose the girl you love for good," West advised sending me a knowing look.
"The girl I love? What makes you say that?" I questioned.
I know the way I feel for Jesse is more than a friend.
From the moment we met, I knew I wanted her by my side for the rest of my life.
Despite my feelings for Jesse, I tried to ignore them afraid that it could ruin our friendship.
Yet, these feelings continue to grow stronger and stronger every day.
But has it reached the point of love?
"It's the way you look at her," West explained with a soft smile.
"You look at her like she's the sun and you're happy just being in her orbit. That her presence alone incites this joy within you and the fondness that you have towards her,"
"It is beautiful," West concluded.
A silence fell over us as I pondered over his words.
Could it be true?
Am I in love with Jesse?
"West!"
Before us was Talia who stood just a few feet away from us.
She waved West over with an excited grin on her face as she beckoned him over to dance.
I watched as West's face light up with a grin, hints of amusement and adoration shining through his eyes.
Placing his empty glass down West began to make his way over to her, not before giving me a pat of assurance on my back.
I smiled as he took her hand into her, the pair whisking away onto the dance floor.
However, my smile dropped as I spotted another pair on the dance floor.
Before me was Jesse dancing with another guy.
The two of them had large grins on their face as their danced gracefully across the floor.
I felt my eyes narrow into a glare as I peered at the guy who stared down at Jesse in admiration, his smile widening every second.
Laughter fell from their making my fists clench in agitation.
I should be the one making her smile.
I should be the one making her laugh.
Not him.
I knew I wasn't in the position to be upset, as Jesse and I weren't together.
But, I couldn't help the envy that began to brew within me.
The desire to have her in my arms and not his boiling on within me.
Not being able to take anymore I began to take powerful strides over to them.
"Excuse me, may I cut in?" I said my tone cold, my eyes fixed on the guy before me.
"Of course," He said, shooting me a polite smile as he stepped back.
"It was truly a pleasure to meet you, Jesse, I hope to see you again. Perhaps one of your performances,"
I heard him say making me hold in a scoff.
"Of course! It was wonderful meeting you too Elon," Jesse replied with a smile.
I watched as Elon walked away, though I didn't miss the wink he sent in my direction a knowing smile on his face.
What does he know?
I thought as his figure was swallowed by the crowd.
Deciding not to dwell on the actions of a stranger, I drew my attention towards Jesse.
Her back was still turned to me as I stretched out my hand towards her.
Once she turned around she spotted my hand first.
Her brown eyes connected with my own making my breath hitch in anticipation, afraid she may reject my offer.
I felt relief wash over me as she placed her hand into mine.
My arms molded around her waist pulling her against my chest.
Her arms winded themselves on my neck, the contact of her hand against my skin causing me to shiver.
We glided across the dance floor, our movements in sync.
The intensity within our gazes setting my heart aflame.
Moving her eyes away from mine she began to lean her head against my chest.
I held my breath hoping she wouldn't be able to hear my heart thumping erratically in my chest.
Slowly I placed my head on top of hers, my hold on her tightening.
Having her here in my arms felt right.
Like there is no other place she belongs but here, and I'll willingly be the one she resides in for all my days if it means I'm with her.
West was right.
She's the sun.
Expect I'm not orbiting around her, I falling straight down.
Despite the heat and flames that I will surely endure from being so close to the sun.
I will gladly let her burn me.
As we continue to dance I felt myself falling harder and it was in that moment I knew West was right about one more thing.
I think I knew all along and tried so hard not to acknowledge it out of fear.
But, I can't ignore it anymore.
I have fallen completely and totally in love with,
My best friend,
My twinkle toes,
Jesse Montogomery.
And it was the best feeling in the world.
Slowly our dance started to come to an end much to my dismay.
Peering down at Jesse I couldn't help but wonder how lucky I was to have such a beautiful person in my life.
"Your breathtaking," I whispered in awe.
The grin that broke out on her face at my words made me stop breathing.
She's perfect
I watched as her mouth began to open but before she can say anything we were interrupted.
"Cindy's here,"
A frantic Talia said as she headed in our direction.
Behind her were West, Talia, and Lance who looked a bit panicked.
"What?" Jesse asked in shock as we pulled apart from one another to face our friends.
"Cindy's here!" Talia repeated once more.
My eyes widen at her words as they finally hit me.
"We got to get out of here before we get caught!" Jesse said as we nodded in agreement.
"Um guys I think it's too late for that," Lance said making us turn our head to where he was looking.
Three bulky bodyguards were heading our way and they looked pissed.
"Split up! It would be harder for them to catch us if we separated," Talia said quickly.
I don't know what compelled me to, but I intertwined my hand with Jesse before dashing off to the front entrance.
"HEY! Get back here!" I heard one of them yell, but I didn't dare turn around.
Maneuvering through the room, I ignore the complaints people sent our walk as we pushed through them.
Whereas, Jesse apologized on our behalf.
Even as we get chased down by security guards, she still manages to be polite.
Just as we were about to make it to the front entrance, a guard popped up out of nowhere, making me abruptly turn right.
We continued to run down the long hallway, with two guards chasing after us.
My eyes darted around in hopes of finding another exit.
"Over here!"
Not too far stood the others by the back entrance, urging us to hurry up.
Looking behind me for a second I watched as the two security guards toppled over a trolley, due to Jesse's quick thinking.
I chuckled along with Jesse as they collapsed onto the floor.
Picking up our pace we rushed towards the open door.
Once we were out the door we ran together into the night our breaths ragged and wild grins on our faces.
"The next time we decide to crash a gala, remind me to wear sneakers," Talia groaned out in pain as she took off her heels.
We were now blocks away from the gala, our pace slowing down to a walk seeing that we were in the clear.
I heard laughter from beside me, turning my head I noticed Jesse near to tears and soon the rest of us were laughing with her.
"You guys missed when Talia spilled champagne onto the floor causing the guards to slip on the floor," West said making us laugh even harder.
"When they toppled over the trolley I almost lost it," Lance said giving Jesse a high five.
Our boisterous laughter rang through the nosy streets as we recapped the night.
We walked the streets of New York with glee, a bounce in our steps, as joy shined in our eyes.
I couldn't help the smile that stretched out across my face as I took in the events of the night.
It was truly one I would never forget.
___
Once we made it back to the hotel we parted ways, greeting each other goodnight as it was well past midnight.
Though a couple of hours have passed and it seemed to be around 3 am and I was still wide awake.
I laid on my back, my gaze fixed on the ceiling above me, as Lance snored loudly beside me.
I couldn't sleep.
Not when all I could think about was Jesse.
I didn't know what to do about these newfound feelings.
If I should even tell her or keep them to myself.
Not to mention we still haven't discussed our fight.
I continued to lay there lost in thought, conflicted on what to do.
"Don't wait for an opening, make your own because if you don't do something now, you may lose the girl you love for good,"
It was then I was reminded of West's words and a sense of determination sparked through me.
"Make my own opening," I whispered to no one.
Rising up from my bed, I carefully tiptoed out room, trying not wake West and Lance.
I gently closed my room door before going on the hunt for Jesse's.
The moment I arrived at her front door I lifted my hand to knock on the door.
However, I hesitated in my next action.
What if she's not awake?
What if I'm bothering her?
What if I just make everything worse?
Just as I was about to turn back around the door opened.
"Myles,"
Jesse whispered in shock as she gazed at me.
I don't know what it was.
Whether it was the way her skin radiated in the light.
The way her brown eyes held a certain softness within them.
Or the way her plump lips parted slightly in surprise.
Whatever it was made me throw any resolve I had out of the window.
The words I had rehearsed on my way over here, now forgotten.
Screw it
And with that,
I kissed her.
