Chapter 24
Everything is chaos. People are screaming. Electrified water is flooding the area. I run as fast as I can while yelling at people to stay back. I stop by the water edge just in time to see Kira flip over a car and onto the water.
Kira manages to grab the flying cable with one hand. She uses her other hand to slowly cover the end of the cable, where sparks are flying out. "Kira!" I yell as I attempt to move forward only to be held back by Derek.
But Kira is fine. Nothing happens... until she opens her eyes. They glow a striking, fiery orange. She manages to absorb all the electricity just like she did that night at the power station.
As soon as it's safe, Derek rushes off to Isaac who was electrified. I immediately rush over to Kira, shaking her arms. "Kira, are you okay?" I panic.
She looks dazed as she replies. "I'm fine." She then furrows her brows. "I did that?" She breathes out.
"Yeah, yeah you did. It was awesome." I smile at her.
"He's not breathing." Derek panics. I swiftly turn around to where Derek is over Isaac's body. "Scott! He's not breathing!"
Everything happens so fast. Paramedics rush to take Isaac inside. Allison dashes after the stretcher with tears coating her eyes. "Allison," I call to her as he stumbles over her feet. I place my hands on her arms. "Careful." I walk with her to Isaac's room as they shut the doors in our face.
"Are you okay?" I ask Allison as she stares longingly through the hospital door Isaac was taken through.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. But Isa-"
"Isaac will be fine. Allison." but her gaze still remains transfixed on the door. I turn her around to face me. "Isaac will be fine. Trust me, he's a werewolf after all."
"Then why isn't he healing."
"Sometimes it takes a while for the healing to kick in, especially after an electric shock." She still looks lost in thought. "Allison go home. You need to sleep."
"I can't just leave him here." She runs her hand through her hair. "I'm gonna stay here. I need to stay here." She says determinedly. Her voice lowers, "He has no one else." I let out a sigh. I know there's no arguing with her now. Once she sets her mind to something she will do anything to see it through.
"Fine." I put my hands up in surrender. "But if you're staying here, then so will I."
"No, Nina I can't ask you to do that." She shakes her head.
"Well, then it's a good thing I wasn't asking for your permission," I smirk before taking a seat on the hard, uncomfortable hospital chair. "I can stay here all night." She lightly laughs before sitting down next to me.
"Thank you." She smiles. A genuine, warm smile reaches her eyes. We sit and chat about everything and anything for I don't know how long until one of us falls asleep causing the other to join in as well.
I awake with a start as I feel something touch my shoulder. I lift my head off of Allison's shoulder and see two pairs of eyes staring at us. "Allison." I nudge her arm.
"Have you guys been here all night?" Scott asks, leaving his hand on my shoulder.
"Allison didn't want to leave him so I stayed here with her," I say with a yawn.
"They won't let me see him cause I'm not family." She adds. "I told them he doesn't have any."
"He's got us." Mrs. McCall says, pulling something out of her jacket. "And I've got a key-card." She gives us a smile before leading the way to the hospital room. I get up to follow her, but the room starts spinning. I stumble, but Scott manages to grab me before I fall.
"Hey, are you okay?" He asks holding onto my arms.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I attempt a smile, reaching my hand to my forehead. "Everything got a little dizzy for a second, but it's fine now," I say, blinking my eyes a few times.
"You sure?" He looks into my eyes.
"Yeah, Scott." I give his hand a reassuring squeeze. "If anything, I only have a minor headache."
"Good." He grabs my hand and pulls me along with him.
"Be quick." Mrs. McCall stats as she unlocks the door for us. The three of us walk inside, while Mrs. McCall stands guard. Isaac is lying in the hospital bed with wires attached to him. The heart monitor beats steadily in the background, somehow making the pounding in my head worsen. Scott and Allison walk ahead, while I take a moment to wait for the initial pain to pass.
Once it does, I take a step forward only to see Allison grab a hold of Scott's hand. I stop in my tracks and stare at their interlocked hands.
It's nothing. Don't worry about it.
Allison is just worried about Isaac. They are sorta together now so that makes sense. Besides Allison knows about me and Scott, and I know she wouldn't do anything like that.
So why do I still feel this pang in my chest?
I shake my head and continue walking forward. I walk to the right side of Isaac's bed while Allison and Scott end up on the left side.
"He's not healing yet," I say examining the burns on his neck. "Shouldn't he be healing by now?" I glance up at the two in front of me.
"I thought he would too," Scott replies staring at the wound on Isaac's neck. Scott then grabs Isaac's arm.
"Is he in pain?" Allison asks, with furrowed brows. He nods before getting a determined look on his face. He tightens his grip on Isaac's arm. Black veins crawl up his own arm. Isaac starts squirming in his sleep as he lets out a breath. Scott suddenly squeezes his eyes shut.
"I can take over, Scott," I reach my hand out to help, but he opens his eyes and looks at me.
"No, no It's okay. Save your strength. I can take it." I reluctantly pull my hand away and bite my fingernails. Scott suddenly closes his eyes again and scrunches up his face. He takes a sharp intake of breath before releasing Isaac's arm. "It won't heal him, but it helps with the pain." Scott breathes out, cradling his hand.
"Did Stiles really do this?" Allison asks with a stern look.
"It's not Stiles," I say, looking over at Allison.
"Whatever's controlling him did it," Scott adds. "Whatever's inside him."
"Well, then how do we get whatever's inside of him the hell out of him?" Allison asks.
"We're working on it."
"The thing is, in all of the stories, Kitsunes are tricksters. They're mischievous. they don't really get caught up in right or wrong or even understand it." Kira tells me while sitting on the bench tying her shoelaces.
"So, basically he's just doing this for fun?" I question slowly from my spot against a locker. "It's all a game for him?"
"Maybe, but there was something else I found. If you somehow offend a Nogitsune, it can react pretty badly."
"How do you offend a Nogitsune?" I ask in amusement. "I didn't know they were so sensitive."
"I don't know." Kira shrugs her shoulders, standing up from the bench. "But if it's doing something this bad, then someone really offended it."
"Now it's just the question of who..." I trail off, an idea coming to my head. "Have you heard of the Darach?" She nods her head. "A Darach is basically a druid that went down the wrong path. So what if it's the same thing with the Nogitsune?"
"Then how would it be able to possess Stiles?"
"Maybe it was once a Kitsune in a past life, turned evil and become a dark Kitsune spirit?" I suggest thinking aloud.
"That makes sense but-" I tune Kira out as I hear a metallic pulsating sound. I quirk my head to the side.
What is that?
"What? You hear something?" Kira asks, taking a step closer to me.
"Yeah, it's this metallic pulsing sou-" I stop mid-sentence as I realize what it is. "It's an emitter." I turn back around to face her. "I'm gonna check it out. I'll catch up with you at practice." I give her a smile before leaving the locker room and following the sound. I walk down the hall as Scott, Ethan and Aiden leave the boy's locker room.
"You heard it too?" I ask catching up with them.
"It's coming from the basement." Ethan figures out. We make our way down to the basement level of the school, only to see someone standing in a room down the hall with the emitter in their hand. The person turns around to face us.
"Okay, I know what you guys are thinking but it's me," Stiles says, holding his hands up. "I swear to god it's me."
Two growls are heard from behind me. Ethan and Aiden charge towards Stiles pinning him against the wall. I feel a familiar coolness overtake my eyes as the pounding in my head worsens. I shake my head trying to fight back the urge to follow them. I clench my fists as tight as I can.
Scott reacts fast and pulls Ethan off of Stiles and tosses him into the locker. "Wait stop!" When Aiden doesn't, he yells again. "I said stop!" Aiden then growls at Scott, causing him to let out his dominating Alpha growl. I feel the coolness around my eyes disappear. I unclench my fists and wipe the blood off on my jeans before anyone notices. I quietly walk forward and join the rest of the group.
"It's me, Scott. I swear it's me." He looks at his eyes. "I don't know where I've been the last two days or what I've been doing, but this is me. I promise."
"You know what happened at the hospital?" Ethan asks, standing up.
"I know more than that." Stiles walks over and kneels by his bag on the floor. He grabs a set of blueprints out. "You see this?" He opens it up and shows us what's on it. "It's a blueprint of the hospital's electrical wiring. You see all these markings in red? That's my handwriting." Stiles looks up at all of us. "I know I did this. I caused the accident." Stiles puts the blueprint away and opens the bag for us to see inside. "And everything in this bag, it's all stuff that could be part of something bigger." Ethan reaches into the bag and pulls out a saw.
"What the hell have you been up to?" He asks with wide eyes.
"I think something worse. A lot."
"How can it get worse than that?" I roll my eyes. We start to pull out all the supplies and put them on the table. A bundle of ropes, duct tape, and chains lie on the table.
"Were you planning on kidnapping someone or something?" I sarcastically ask gesturing to the supplies on the table.
"Or building a terminator?" Aiden adds.
"Thank you for that." Stiles comments.
"Guys, this is a map," Scott says bringing our attention to the paper in his hands. He unfolds it and spreads it out on the table.
"Isn't that the cross-country trail?" Ethan asks, tracing a red line with his finger.
"That's the Tate car. Where Malia Tate's family died."
"You mean that's where her father put the steel-jawed traps," Stiles adds. All five of us rush to Stiles' jeep so we can stop anyone getting hurt on the cross-country trail. But as we are running, my head starts to throb, causing me to stop and shut my eyes.
"You coming?" Scott says turning around to me. "You okay?"
"Go ahead. I'll catch up." I state, trying to force a smile.
"No, something's wrong. The same thing happened at the hospital and-"
"I'm okay Scott, really." Scott suddenly wrinkles his nose looking around.
"What's that smell?" His gaze travels to my hands that still have smears of dried blood on them. "What-"
"It's nothing, Scott. You need to go-" I rush out, only to be interrupted by Aiden calling him from the jeep.
"We'll talk afterward, okay?" He leans forward and brings his lips to my forehead before looking into my eyes. "I'll let you know what happens. Go home and rest...please." I smile before he rushes into the jeep and they drive off. I watch it drive off, feeling a pang in my stomach.
What's wrong with me? Why do I keep getting these headaches?
I can't help anyone if I'm like this...
I hastily wipe away a stray tear before walking over to my motorbike. I sit for a few minutes as the dizziness begins to fade, but the pain still aches. I put my helmet on before following Scott's instructions and going back to the loft.
I walk inside and slam the door, throwing my bag to the floor.
"Well, well who's the sourwolf now?" Peter's voice sounds from the stairs.
"I'm not in the mood." I stomp over to the couch and fall down onto it.
"You know, I was actually having a peaceful day before you came and ruined it with your teenage hormones."
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize the homicidal werewolf actually had feelings," I remark, putting my hands over my eyes.
"Aren't you supposed to be at lacrosse or something?" He questions walking in front of the couch.
"Cross-country, actually." I open my eyes. "How did you know that?"
"I'm not as out of touch with everything as I may seem." He moves my legs out of the way and sits down on the couch. "Now how about your answer my question?" I let out a breath and sit up on the couch, looking over to Peter.
I can trust him, right? Well, trust is a strong word. I can tolerate him.
"Oh what the hell," I mutter, giving in. "I keep getting these headaches... migraines actually."
"Is that all?" He asks raising an eyebrow.
"I never get migraines and now all of sudden I'm getting them all the time." I run a hand through my hair. "And I don't know why."
"Well, I think the answer is pretty obvious." He begins. I turn to him with raised brows.
"You do?"
"Yeah well it's obvious, being around Stiles for long periods of time can have that effect. I personally have experienced it."
I nudge his shoulder, "I'm being serious."
"So am I." He defends. "It's a real problem." I give him a blank stare.
"My friends could be dying and I can't help them." I stand up from the couch and pace the room.
"As long as Scott is around, your friends will be fine." He rolls his eyes, "Prodigal wolf Scott to the rescue."
"I hate feeling useless." I stop and lean against a support column.
"Why do you think I stay here and out of danger." He asks, standing up.
"I can think of a few reasons."
"It's because I know that if I try to help, I'm going to do more harm than good." He walks to the window. "I'm not as strong as I used to be."
"That's your own fault," I say following him. "Your own stupidity," I mutter under my breath.
"I did it for our family. You should understand that better than anyone else." I play with my fingers, avoiding his gaze. "But back to you. You can't always be the hero. Sometimes you just gotta sit on the sidelines-."
"-and watch the world burn?"
"If it comes to that." He smiles his signature sly smile.
"I'm not like you. I can't just do that." I defend myself.
"I think you will find out that you're a lot more like me than you think." He smiles down at me, causing me to look away.
"While it's smart to bring me with you, I still think the rest of this is totally insane." Allison's voice sounds from the other side of the door.
"I tried to find Stiles and I led everyone into a mental institution," Lydia says also from the other side of the door. "I call that a colossal failure. Look I just need to figure this out and he is the only one offering help." I raise my eyebrows at Peter only for him to shrug his shoulders with a satisfied grin on his face.
"Peter doesn't offer help. He offers a chance for you to be manipulated into giving him what he wants." Now it's my turn to give Peter a satisfied grin, while he just rolls his eyes.
"It was one time." He mutters turning around to face the window.
"Fine. Let's see what he wants." Lydia concludes before the loft door swings open.
"The hunter and the banshee," Peter smirks at the two women before him. "Ladies, come in" I roll my eyes.
so dramatic...
"Here we go." I breathe out.
"First thing first." Peter takes a step closer and looks at Allison. "She goes," He commands.
"The last time I was alone with you... I almost bled out on a lacrosse field. She stays." Lydia stands her ground against the ex-Alpha werewolf.
"Do you actually think I was trying to kill you when I bit you?"
"Yes." I interrupt, from my spot to the right against a support column, as I message my temple. The intensity of the headache has definitely decreased since I got to the loft, which is weird since I am with Peter, however, there is still a dull ache.
"You were my backup plan, Lydia." Peter continues. "Not to mention, the bite is what brought out your nascent abilities. You think power like that was going to come out on its own?" He clicks his tongue. "I'm the spark that lit your fire, sweetheart."
"What is she supposed to be thanking you?" I remark taking my hand off my forehead.
"You attacked and nearly killed her," Allison adds.
"Power doesn't come without a little pain and struggle."
"I didn't ask for it." Lydia defends.
"But you're embracing it now, aren't you?" Lydia downcasts her eyes.
"How about the fact that you brainwashed her and used her to bring yourself back to life?" Allison questions.
"So that I could be here today to help you master your abilities. Isn't it amazing how things come full circle?"
"You're crazy," I mutter, rolling my eyes.
"He's insane," Allison confirms. "We're leaving."
"Count me in," I add as I follow the two out of the loft.
"You want the truth, Lydia?" Peter calls, causing her to stop in her tracks. "It's not the scream that gives you power. All the scream does is help drown out all the noise, allowing you to hear what you really need to. I can help you focus your hearing." I turn around to face Peter along with Allison and Lydia.
"But you want something in return." Allison realizes.
"No, I'm dedicating my life to helping out narcissistic teenage girls." He says with a scoff as he grabs the box with my mother's claws off the table. "Of course, I want something in return." He opens it and empties the claws onto the table. "My sister, Talia,-"
"My mother," I add looking down at the claws on the table.
"-before she died, she stole a memory from me. It's something only a very powerful Alpha can do. That memory is locked inside these claws."
"Why would your sister want to steal a memory from you?" Lydia questions with a slight smirk.
"Well, if I remembered the memory I might be able to tell you."
"She probably took them for a good reason. Knowing you." I say picking up one of the claws.
"You really think your mother did anything for a good reason?" He countered. I slam the claw down and lunge at him. An arm holds me back.
"Don't you talk about her," I give him a heated look.
"As much as I want to let you go, we need him alive," Allison says, staring hard at Peter.
Lydia picks up the claws and holds them in her hand, "So what am I supposed to do?" She begins pacing up and down the loft.
"Focus."
"I am focusing." Lydia snaps, turning around to face him
"You're not! I can see the wheels spinning behind your eyes." He says from his spot near the table. "Your hearing is attuned to a level of the universe no one else can hear. But only if you're listening."
"I am trying," Lydia says in frustration.
"Try harder!" Peter suddenly snaps lunging at Lydia. Allison acts fast and stops him using her stun baton. Peter slowly turns to look at her with a hard look. He flicks his claws out. I get off the table and do the same thing, earning a look from him.
"Your aunt had one of those." He taunts as I take a step closer to him. Allison's face remains passive. "Aunty Kate."
"Stop it," Lydia instructs. "All of you." I obediently move my hand away from his arm but do not put my claws away.
"Didn't do her much good as I ripped her throat out did it?" He continues.
"She didn't shove it up your-"
"Stop it!" Lydia suddenly yells, throwing the claws in our direction. I duck just in time as the claws fly above my head and hit the post behind us.
"Lydia! What the-" I trail off as I see the faraway look in her eyes as she stares at the claws.
"Lydia?" Peter questions as she moves closer to the claws. "Lydia, do you hear something?" Lydia doesn't answer and continues to walk towards the claws. "What is it? What are they saying?" Peter starts getting frustrated with her lack of response. "Is it the memory? What did Taila take from me?" Lydia stops a foot away from the claws. "Tell me what she knew!" Peter snaps. Lydia slowly turns around. Her face is one of utter shock and confusion. She composes herself for a second before revealing the truth.
"You're not just an uncle."
Wait what?
I stay quiet for a moment as everything sinks in. I turn around and walk out of the loft as Allison calls after me. I need to leave... I need to think. I hop onto my bike and run my hand frustratingly through my hair as I glance back at the loft.
Peter is a father. My homicidal uncle is a father... I have a cousin. I have another family member out there. I thought my whole family died in the fire except for Peter, Derek, Cora and I... and Laura. But now I have a cousin. Someone else in the Hale family line. But are they a good person? Or did they get Peter's genes and turn out like him?
My phone buzzes in my pocket bringing me out of my head. I check the lock screen to see a name I did not expect...
Stiles
"What the hell?" I mutter unlocking my phone and reading the message.
This is Stiles. The actual Stiles. Meet me at the police station.
I put my helmet on and drive off towards the police station.
What's going on? Is that actually Stiles? Why is he asking me to meet him there?
I park my bike and walk hurriedly to the building. I suddenly stop in my tracks as smell three very unique scents fill my senses.
The first one being Derek and the second being Argent.
That's a strange pair...
But the last scent is the most pungent and the most confusing:
Fear
I rush towards the door, suddenly hearing a lot of commotion and people rushing about. My hand hovers over the doorknob as I hear a distinct ticking sound.
The noise gets faster and faster until...
"Get down!"
A loud bang erupts as the force blows me off my feet knocking my already aching head into the concrete below. I groan as I lift my head up, my vision turning cloudy.
"Nina!" A voice yells as two sets of arms help me back onto my feet.
"I'm okay," I mutter, as I rub my head. My hand coming back crimson. "Are they okay?" I look back into the police station.
"I don't know," Scott mutters hurriedly following Stilinski into the police station. I'm about to move forward, but stop as I notice Stiles following Scott. He meets my eyes for a second before walking into the building.
Didn't Stiles send me a message to meet him here? Then why did he only arrive now?
I brush it off and join the others in the police station. I gasp as I see the destruction before me. Multiple officers are injured, blood dripping all over their uniforms. The building itself is ruined with chunks of glass and wood everywhere.
"Derek!" I run over to him, relieved that he is still moving. He has glass stuck in his back and is being held up by a very stunned Argent. "Derek." My voice comes out softer as I put my hand on his arm. "Are you okay? What am I saying? Of course, you're not okay, you look like a porcupine."
"I'm fine, Nina." He reassures, with a slightly pained smile. "Go help Scott. I'm okay."
"You need help-" I protest.
"I got him," Argent says, still holding him up. "Help the others. Go."
I give one last look to Derek, muttering a thank you to Argent, before rushing over to Scott and Stiles. Kira suddenly runs to the door with a frantic look on her face. "The Oni. They're coming." She rushes.
"Stiles, we gotta get you out of here." Scott pulls him out the door. "Nina, we gotta go." He grabs my hand as I stand still staring into the chaos-filled room. I hop into the jeep next to Kira as we begin driving. I put my hand onto my temple as the throbbing pain comes back.
"Where are we going?" Kira speaks up.
"To the animal clinic." Scott turns back to look at her.
"An animal clinic?"
"The place is lined with Mountain Ash, just like my house. It will buy us some time."
"But they can get through it?" Stiles looks over at him as the rain pelts against the window.
"Eventually."
"Nobody's got any better ideas?" Stiles glances around before looking at me in the rearview mirror. "Nina? You okay?" Scott darts his eyes around to me.
"Migraine again?" His eyes soften.
"I'm okay, I promise." I smile tightly as we continue down the road. We finally reach the animal clinic and pile out into the pouring rain.
Stiles rushes to unlock the door. But a sound behind us causes us to turn around. The Oni appear from the darkness standing in the rain which doesn't seem to affect them at all.
"Stiles! Get inside!" Scott yells over the rain, transforming into his werewolf form. I follow after him. But the pain in my head worsens as I get ready to fight.
"Hey Kira, get inside!" Stiles yells opening the door for her. But she doesn't listen. Instead, she uses whatever she can around her to attack the Oni. Scott continues to slash at them, taking on two at a time.
I, however, can barely touch the Oni. The pain in my head throbs. It comes in waves, causing me to stumble back. My vision gets blurry as the rain falls in my eyes. I see a blur come towards me as I duck narrowly missing a sword to the face. I slash my claws again but come nowhere close to it.
Something sharp hits my side as I lose my balance entirely and fall into the puddle below. The blur of the same sword inches towards my chest as all I can do is sit there. Unable to find the strength to move.
"Nina!" It suddenly stops as it is pushed away by Scott. "Get inside!"
"I can't!" I protest trying to sit up. "I need to help."
"You can't help like this! Just get inside!" He yells over the rain.
I'm useless now
Two arms grip me and pull me towards the door. But something feels wrong.
The skin where their hands touch are burning. Hot despite the cold rain. I look up into their eyes. My head burns worse than ever before as I see the darkness lurking in them. Stiles smirks as he grips my arms tighter.
Just let it in... stop fighting it.
And so I do. Like a switch, the pain in my head is gone. I'm suddenly filled with so much power. So much anger. The sound of flesh being pierced brings me back to reality as I see Scott impaled by one of the swords.
"Scott!" Kira yells, rushing to his aid. Stiles' face softens and he lets go of me and rushes towards him.
"Alright come on! Get him inside! Get him inside." He panics as the pair grip Scott and brings him towards the clinic. I stand motionless by the door. Everything seems to happen in a blur. I feel light-headed and empty. Like I'm here but I'm not.
The trio pushes past me into the clinic. I numbly follow along. Kira stands in front of Scott and starts to pull the sword out. Stiles suddenly puts his hand on Kira's arm stopping her from doing anything.
She gasps in pain as he pulls her arm. I don't do anything but watch her in pain. Feeling a sick satisfaction from watching her cry out. She tried to steal Scott from me. She wants him but she can't have him...
This is what she deserves
Stiles suddenly turns around to me. "I'm sure you'd loved to hurt her." He says that same smirk on his lips. Kira looks at me with wide, innocent eyes.
Innocent...
I grip her head and slam it into the metal table. Her body falls limp onto the ground. A smile overtakes my lips as I kneel down next to her.
"That'll teach you to not mess around with my boyfriend." I hiss.
I look back up to Scott to see a mixture of shock and hurt over his features as his gaze shifts from me to Kira. I shrug my shoulders as I stare into his eyes.
"Nina, what..." He trails off as Stiles begins walking towards him. He looks into Scott's eyes as he places his hand on the sword.
"You okay?" He feigns, getting ready to pull the sword out.
"Please don't," Scott whispers. "Stop."
"It's okay," Stiles reassures lightly as he grips the sword tighter. He places a hand on Scott's shoulder and casually twists the sword. Scott cries out in pain as the sword cuts through his skin. He tries to fight Stiles off but doesn't stand a chance.
And just like it goes away.
The anger in my blood disappears as I'm brought back into reality. I blink my eyes a few times before looking over at Scott with wide eyes.
"Stop!" I snap as I rush towards Stiles. But he's faster. He grips my arms and pushes me into the wall, with a look of annoyance on his face.
"I really thought it worked." He says to himself. "I really thought that explosion would awaken you. But I guess you don't feed on chaos and pain as I do."
"I'm not like you." I gasp out.
"Not yet." He smirks glancing at Kira on the floor then shifting his gaze to Scott. "I just underestimated your anchor."
He slams my head into the wall and everything fades to black.
"Nina. You have to wake up now." A calm voice tells me. I slowly open my eyes and see Deaton staring down at me. I glance around the room. Stiles and Kira are nowhere to be seen.
"Where are they?" I breathe as a rub my head.
"Mr. Stilinski took Stiles and Kira home."
"Is he still..."
"No, the Nogistune is poisoned for now."
I breathe a sigh of relief but then everything floods back. I attacked Kira... I hurt her...
Why? What happened?
"And Scott?" Deaton looks at me and turns around. Scott stands in the doorway. Our eyes lock for only a few seconds but it feels like an eternity. He then wordlessly turns around and walks out of the room.
I feel my heart drop as I stare at where he used to be. Deaton pats my shoulder before following after him.
My eyes well up with tears as I stare at the bloodstain on the floor where Kira once lay. I bring my knees to my chest and squeeze my eyes shut.
What have I done
