Chapter 9: 9

Restless • Lizzie SaltzmanWords: 7727

Lizzie was already stressed out a bit as her own dad forgot that the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant was even happening at the school. As she got everyone back on track it was much easier.

But then everything got worse when she met the judges.

So now Lizzie can't be in the pageant since there is no way in hell she'd win with Dana's mom being one of the judges. So she dropped out and gave her entire plan to Hope.

She had her reasons; first of all science, it made sense that she could win with everything she had under her belt and also she felt a bit bad honestly.

Lizzie was keeping an eye on everyone telling people what to do.

"Put the flowers out there!"

"No not there! There!"

"Damn," the familiar voice of Rae Fell made her freeze, "your scary when in charge."

Lizzie turned to see Rae standing there.

This was the first time they've seen each other in day time and like actually not in pajamas.

Rae wore a black long sleeve v-neck and leather pants with combat boots; on her neck was a black collar-like thick choker. She looked really, really good.

"I'm a control freak," Lizzie said smiling.

Rae smiled back as she gave Lizzie a hug.

"You're out of the pageant?!" Rae asked so confused.

Lizzie nodded sighing, "yup, its a tragedy of the highest order."

"I'm sorry, I knew you really wanted to be in it," Rae told her, "you are the only person I could really see as The Miss Mystic Falls."

Lizzie smiled as she flipped her hair dramatically, "awe thank you."

The two laughed together.

Rae just paused for a second, "so, uh, since your not contending, would you," she hesitated, "aha, would you do me the favor of being my escort?"

Lizzie's face fell as she immediately got nervous, "w-what? Ah, you don't want me as your escort, there is no chance you'd win with me on your arm."

"Yeah I don't want to win," Rae rolled her eyes, "my mom didn't care enough to get off work and my dad is still MIA so, I don't want to win- hell I don't even want to be here but I'm still attending this thing for one person," she smiled looking at Lizzie, "you."

Lizzie smiled as she felt the heat rise on her face, "then I would love to be your escort, Miss Fell."

"Thank you, Miss Saltzman," Rae joked too as she and her both laughed.

Lizzie felt really, really happy, she would be with Rae all day. For the rehearsal dance and everything else.

Lizzie stood with Rae, she could see Dana's mom glaring but she ignored her, she was here for Rae.

As the dance started Lizzie and Rae put up their hands holding them over eachother aka the near touch.

"Flirt with your eyes."

Lizzie wiggled her eyes as Rae tried not to laugh as she squinted her eyes in a flirtatious way.

They circled like they were supposed to, still holding the near touch, when they were told to change. Lizzie wrapped her arm Rae's waist, grabbed her hand and started to lead the next step.

It was nice to dance like this, it felt like it was only them, staring in her eyes; Lizzie loved her eyes.

That was when Lizzie got distracted noticing the stuff starting to shake like magic, just like it would for her in an episode. She pulled away from Rae who gave her a look. Lizzie gave her an apologetic look before looking for Hope, she saw her and Landon talking pretty heatedly.

Lizzie left to go help Hope leaving Rae alone.

Lizzie got ready for the ceremony, she was waiting at the top, she gave Hope a supportive smile still waiting for Rae. Her mind started to contradict things when Rae showed up.

"I'm here," Rae told her.

Lizzie turned but realized that she looked... Amazing. She wore a sleeveless red dress //Look at the photo above// and her hair was curled and put half up twisted in the back with a gem to keep it in place.

"You look beautiful," Lizzie told her.

Rae's face turned red a bit as she smiled, "thank you."

They started to call names, Rae was after Hope, so once Hope went down with the added surprise of Roman and not Landon. But now It was Rae Fell's turn.

"Next we have Miss Rae Fell escorted by Miss Elizabeth Saltzman."

Lizzie laced her arm with Rae as they started to walk down the stairs.

They smiled at each other, Lizzie could see the true happiness in Rae's eyes, the way she was made her fall in love even more...

Wait.

Lizzie is in love with Rae.

Josie was right.

As they came down and started the dance, it was like heaven, Lizzie was completely distracted with Rae no longer caring about trying to win the Pageant with Hope. It was just Lizzie and Rae that mattered.

Suddenly Josie Saltzman interrupted.

"Josie," Lizzie said confused, she looked at Rae, "this is my twin sister; Josie."

"Nice to meet you," Rae greeted.

Josie didn't give her a look at all just looked at Lizzie, "can I talk to you?" She glanced at Rae, "alone?"

"Um," Lizzie looked at Rae and then at Josie, "sure? I'll be back, I promise."

Rae just nodded understanding.

As Lizzie walked away to talk to Josie and it immediately got heated. It's really bad as Lizzie didn't realize Josie still loved her evil ex Penelope Park.

Usually, she would judge her sister for loving someone like that and god it was hard not judging her with the way Penelope has treated her. But with the way she feels for Rae now she feels a bit bad.

She tried to talk Josie down but then she brought up Hope's dress.

Honestly, what does that dress have to do with anything? Its just mom's dress that was given to her by some guy.

But it wasn't.

Klaus Mikaelson... Hope Mikaelson. Oh no.

As they announced the winner being Hope Mikaelson she saw the look on Hope's face, she must have overheard them, she heard the shaking... She is going to snap.

Lizzie ran over and pulled Hope into a hug, "congratulations!" she told her, she then whispered, "just let it out, the way you needed to all along."

Hope just nodded and started to cry into Lizzie's shoulder in front of everyone as Lizzie held her...

After things started to slow down and most everyone was just relaxing, talking, or dancing and others did leave. Lizzie found Rae after making sure Hope was okay.

Rae was leaning against a table looking a cup of champagne, not sure where she got it from but she seemed to not mind it so Lizzie probably shouldn't either.

"Hey," Lizzie greeted unsure if she had ruined this.

Rae just smiled as she straightened up, "hey, is she okay?"

"Getting there," Lizzie looked down, "look I'm sorry for constantly ditching you like twice today."

"It's okay you were helping someone who needed help," Rae said, "because you have a good heart."

Lizzie smiled a bit, "your words are sincere but your voice sounds different," she glanced down, "sorry, maybe I'm overreacting."

"Lizzie, come on," Rae grabbed both of her hands, "I'm okay, I'm just, I could swear you and Hope," she glanced off, "you two seem good together..."

Lizzie's eyes widened, was she thinking that she, Lizzie Saltzman, liked the Hope Mikaelson. That's insane. The feeling she has with Hope is nothing like the feeling she has with Rae. It's like everything is better, that she can be better with her, she wants to have Rae here with her every day. But she can't. It doesnt matter, she cares about her, Lizzie wants Rae.

Lizzie grabbed Rae's hand and guided her to dance again. Rae just pursed her lips smiling as they began to sway.

"I don't like Hope like that," Lizzie told her, "I was horrible to her for no reason so I hope to get closer with her. But not like that. I do have feelings for someone though."

Rae looked at her interested, Lizzie smiled nervously, she pushed all the anxiety down as she leaned in and met her lips with hers.

Rae kissed back three seconds in, Lizzie smiled into this as she tilted her head as she deepened it holding her close.

And just like that...

It was them, the two restless teens, together.
