"Virgin... what ? " he inquired.
"Virgin pregnancies" she repeated a bit louder.
"What the hell is that ?!" he asked puzzled...he had never heard of such thing.
"Virgin pregnancies...or in other words, sexless pregnancies, a lot of cases has been reported in the last century you know..." she explained. ...Although some scientists had said that under very special conditions it was theoretically possible, she was sure these were totally fake. The idea seemed utterly ridiculous. But some women have been able to pull it off quite well !
"You are kidding me right now ?" asked Randhir, refusing to believe the words.
"Absolutely not... Listen, Two centuries ago, a French aristocrat Madeleine d'Auvermont, was put on trial for adultery... Despite the fact that her husband had left France four years earlier, Madeleine had given birth to a healthy baby boy. In the face of what seemed like damning evidence, she protested her innocence, claiming that she had thought...ahem...intensely about her husband at night and had conceived through the power of imagination..." Sanyukta narrated the story to Randhir. Yeah...woman could be very convincing when they wanted ! ...but this Madeleine was the softer version...some woman had taken the theory a bit too far like that woman accused of adultery, who had given birth to an infant described as "black as a Moor" despite the fact that both she and her husband were pale-skinned...She was absolved of the charge because a portrait of a Moor hung above her bed. She had admitted that in the throes of passion she had looked at the portrait and the skin color and form of the man in the picture had been seared on her child at the moment of conception... Women could be very impressionable, you see.
Coming out of her pregnancies' theories, she looked at Randhir... the look of terror made her frown in confusion...what had happened to him.
"What's the matter ? why do you look like you just saw a ghost ?" she asked him.
"Virgin pregnancies..." he started slowly..."you mean... you mean... you are really pregnant ?!!!" he asked horror plastered on his face.
"Whaaat ?!" it was now Sanyukta's turn to shriek in horror. "Nooo that's not what I meant..." she exclaimed...
"Oooh..." realization downed upon her " you actually thought...that I was experiencing virgin pregnancy ?!" she exclaimed and burst out laughing. The joke !
"I... I was...just explaining" she said between her laughing session.
Randhir sighed in relief... for one moment he actually believed she was pregnant...that they have somehow...that she was experiencing this weird thing...virgin pregnancies...he sighed in relief again ! ...Well at least she was not crying anymore.
Randhir smirked and said "At least you are not crying anymore."
Sanyukta calmed down.
"By the way, first time I saw the great Sanyukta cry, that was quite a sight !" he teased her trying to lighten up the mood.
Sanyukta just looked at him in the eyes, lost in them. ...This was the same man who had killed someone...the same man who had kidnapped and threatened her daughter... the same man who had almost strangled her and the same man who was now trying to lighten the mood for her not to cry. Bipolar much ?
At that moment they both realized what had just happened, Sanyukta had cried on Randhir's shoulder, ...totally out of character ! ...and Randhir had tried to comfort her, even more out of character ...they awkwardly broke apart, distancing themselves from each other. Today seemed to been a chain of awkward moments...
Even though randhir had kidnapped her and threatened her in the past, she had gotten used to having him around and she knew deep down that he will never hurt her. She sighed...she was feeling the symptoms of the syndrome of Stockholm...not good. She was starting to see her kidnapper in a different light... Definitely not good !
After a long silence, Sanyukta spoke up.
"Why did you come" she asked him curious... to be honest she was only half expecting him to come. They had history together after all, he could have just left her here to die... But instead of that he came...risking his own life. Why ? Surely there was a catch somewhere...
Randhir looked back at her. "I could not let an innocent life in the hand of those monster" he replied after a pause. They were both standing a meter's away from each other, intently looking at the other, trying to understand him.
"I don't understand you..." she asked defeated..." On one hand you ruthlessly kill a man and on the other hand you risk you own life to save mine..." she said frustrated.
"Who are you exactly ?" she asked trying to search for the answer in his eyes.
He smirked "I am... the devil as you so rightly stated" he replied, not giving anything away.
More like devilishly handsome...thought Sanyukta. She groaned, Now is not the time Sanyukta ! Focus !
They once again fell into silence.
"What do you think will happen now ?" asked Sanyukta, a little bit scared. She had a bad feeling around this Sameer guy.
"I don't know..." said Randhir. He had come prepared, but he had not planned to be stuck here in the cell with Sanyukta.
"But whatever happens, I promise to get you out of here safe and sound" he added determined.
Sanyukta looked at him, she was taken aback by his determination to save her.
"Be careful Mr.Gangster, you almost sounded concerned about my well being..." she said her eyes fixated on his, searching for any kind of emotion. But no reaction came from him. He averted his eyes and looked away in the opposite direction.
Sanyukta's mouth formed an o', now THAT was worse than just ignoring. He could have just ignored her but instead he looked at her as if saying "I heard you ..." and then turned his away as is saying "...but I didn't deem it important enough to respond" ...the nerves of this guy...
Ok she will let it his insolence pass this time...considering the situation. He came to save her after all. Attenuating circumstances you see ...Besides if she remembers well, there last encounter was not one of the most pleasant... she had slapped him after all. Which made his presence here even more confusing... Sanyukta had had time to ponder over what happened and she had come to term with the fact she mainly was at fault and needed to apologies. She sighed.
She mentally prepared herself... what is was not every day she apologized to someone ! "Sorry..." she said look at everything but him.
Randhir looked at her, and thought "what is this new drama of her now ?"
"What for" he simply asked.
"For what happened yesterday..." she responded, still not looking at him.
Randhir nearly scoffed at that, apologise be karna but akar b nahi chorni... But his ego was still wounded. There was the slap yes...but there was more, there was the fact that she said that he always forced her ...and that didn't settle well with him. Not to mention that it enraged him to know that the kisses hadn't affected her as much as him... when had the situation become so complicated ? He decided to ignore her.
"I said am sorry okay" huffed Sanyukta, seeing his lack of reaction.
"Ok what can I do to make it up to you ?" she asked. The length she was going to make him forgive her... she sighed, her guilt was speaking now, great !
Randhir totally ignored her. He was in no mood to play with her, thinking about the previous day's events had surely dropped his mood.
Sanyukta contemplated arguing with him till he forgives her but knowing them... that will only results in more insults and slaps ...so she decided to drop the matter... for now.
"Any plans you came up with so far?" his thoughts were broken with her words.
"Meaning ?" he simply questioned her.
"Well you've been staring at the ceiling and it's not like you're breaking it by staring...Right...? but we need to escape right ?... so any plans ?" she explained in gestures, coming back in character.
"When did you start asking for my opinion ? The high and mighty Sanyukta is at a short of idea ?" he taunted her, the reminder of the previous day's events had added bitterness in his words.
"I was just asking out of politeness...but I forgot it's a foreign concept for you... sorry for asking ! " she snapped. Here we go, back to the bickering.
She smiled internally... now that was more like them.
"Ok maybe we could call a guard and ambush him" she tried after a pause.
"Yeah why not, invite them here while we are locked up...wonderful idea !" he mocked her.
True.
"Why don't we just dug in the floor and break out?" she chirped like a 5 years old, remembering the oh so famous way of escaping shown in movies.
"Yeah sure ! ...and how many days, or should I say weeks, do you think it will take us to dug a way out of here ?" he asked her in a scolding tone.
True.
"Um then... maybe we could just break the cells bars... look there is a big brick over there" she said excitedly, pointing to a red brick on the left corner of the cell.
Randhir just looked at her "Do you even know what an escape is... the whole point of it, is to go unnoticed" he told her in a scolding tone. "Bars break karogi to pura sasural bahar khara hoga tumare suhagaat k liye" he added.
"Am sorry everyone is not an expert in escaping..." Sanyukta defended herself "...but surely this is your domain of expertise... so please go ahead" Sanyukta said rolling her eyes at him.
"Just shut up and let me think" he cut her, not in the mood for her nonsense.
"By now Vidushi must have taken care of the person at the entrance, Parth and Sahil must have taken care of some others on strategic places. Leaving approximately 8 to 10 men and eventually Sameer, but my guess is that he is out for...work" ...ok illegal most certainly...but work nonetheless ! Things were accumulating while the turmoil in his head was just getting heavier.
"Ok first we have to get out of here... unnoticed" he emphasized the last word, looking at Sanyukta, to which she just rolled her eyes.
"Whoa...Mr. Gangster...you finally figured out our next step... So Mr.Expert of escaping, how are we to get out of here "unnoticed"?" she asked him quoting his own words.
"I don't have a bobby pin for you to hack the lock..." she mocked him. Remembering the all too filmy scene where the guy sexily grabs the bobby pin from the hair of the damsel in distress, letting fall her freshly washed, combed and straightened hair on her shoulder... What joke ! In real you hardly had a bobby pin because your hair was too unruly and too savage to be maintained by a bobby pin.
"I was not counting on you anyways" he said turning away from her to face the lock.
Urrrgh the nerve of this man !!!

With measured steps , slowly they made their way out of the cell. Randhir had been here a few time before, he knew in order to escape they needed to climb out of the basement to the upper floor, then cross the corridor full of rooms, which was very dangerous because anyone armed could take them down from their hiding spot.
He held her hand as they crossed the corridor and reached the bottom of the staircase, Randhir sighed knowing they had made it so far without hindrance. But maybe he spoke too soon.
As they were about to climb the fleet, two men spotted them, they run toward them with knives in their hands to stop them. Randhir pushed Sanyukta out of the way and fought them, he got rid of them but injured himself on the process. A long gash was covering his right upper arm, blood was dripping out of it making a trail behind them.
Sanyukta looked at it in horror...not that she was concerned of course but this was really not the time to copy Hansel and Gretel ingenuity, leaving "breads crumbs" behind them for the goons to find them ! So she took his hand and roughly tugged his shirt out of his jeans...what the hell ?! At the sudden movement Randhir tensed... her fingers dangerously close to...well you know what !
She pulled the hem of his shirt and set it upon his injury. Taking his other hand putting it on the top of the now soaking shirt.
"Hold it there" she instructed him.
He looked at her like he had seen a ghost.
"What ? ...I don't have a duppatta on me to tear a piece for you" she rolled her eyes.
But this was not exactly what was going on Randhir's mind...He was surprised at the fact that she was genuinely concerned about him. That was new...
"Hurry now" she pressed him to move, making him come out of his trance.
The feeling was weird but heartwarming nonetheless... he sighed. This girl was making him insane.
They were not far away from the entrance now, they just had to pass the meeting room...easier said than done !
They got near it and spotted 3 guys in there. Randhir was about to barge in, but Sanyukta hand on his arm stopped him.
"What ?" he whispered at her.
"You are not going in there like that" she said gesturing at his injured arm.
"I can take care of them, I've seen worse" he said trying to break free.
"No you won't !" she whisper yelled at him "Come back here, it's too dangerous"
"Oh please, I've seen and been in worse condition, I can totally handle them." he was once again taken aback by her concern, was she really concerned about him ?
"Stay here !" she ordered him "I have an idea" she informed him.
Sanyukta started removing her top, upon seeing the scene in front of him Randhir eyes nearly budge out of their socket. What the hell is she doing ?
"What are you doing ?" he asked her, "It's totally fine by me if you want to give a strip show but now is not really the right to do so... in case you have not noticed we are in the middle of escaping" he taunted her, startled by her actions.
She finished removing her top, revealing a white thin singlet, hiding very little of the red bra underneath.
"I am not giving a strip show you pervert" she said out of anger, pink coating her cheeks.
"And Stop looking at me like that ! " she ordered him, blushing profusely. The way he looked at her OMG... she could melt from the intensity of his gaze.
Randhir noticed the blush, she was embarrassed, the great and confident Sanyukta was embarrassed...
"What are you doing exactly, might I ask ?"
"Yes you might" responded Sanyukta, you could do whatever you wanted, the sarcasm was never leaving her !
She threw her top at him and said "I am going to take care of them...hold that for me, I'll be back" she winked at him.
She strolled away Randhir had time to react.
