I was jolted out of sleep by a knock on the door. I almost jumped out of bed when I heard it.
I quickly took a look at where I was. I'm still at Killians.
Why can't I remember when I went to sleep?
I grabbed my head and ran my fingers through my hair as I told whoever was behind the door to come in.
"Good morning." Finn laughed and entered the room.
"Is it morning?" I looked at him horrified.
"It's five o'clock in the evening." He smiled and walked over to me with a tray. He put her on the bed next to me. "I thought you'd be hungry."
"Thank you." I tried to smile.
"Killian left you a while ago and told me to keep an eye on you."
"Killian was here?" I frowned. I can't remember anything. I only know that I drank one coffee after another and worked.
"Yes. Since about eleven. Don't you remember?" He frowned.
"I don't."
"You really needed to sleep."
"Wait, where did Killian go?"
"I don't know, he didn't tell me exactly what it was, but it must have been important since he left you here. Just so you know, he canceled all of his plans for today so he could stay here with you. Thank God Kai knows how things go around here or we'd..."
I stopped listening to him when he finished talking about Killian. For what reason did he stay with me? Why would he disrupt his plans just for me? Does it have something to do with our kiss? I hope not.
I can't really get that moment out of my head, and honestly, I don't even know if I want to. It was...I felt alive. I haven't felt this way in a long time.
"...and you're not listening to me right now."
"Sorry what?"
"Nothing." He laughed. "You should eat. Killian should be back in a few hours though. It looks like you won't be bored." He looked around the room and noticed papers on the floor.
I thanked him for the food and he immediately left the room and closed the door behind him.
I didn't care that there was food on the bed. I threw myself back on it. My back landed on the mattress and my head on the pillow.
I ran my hands over my face and let out a frustrated breath that sounded more like a disgruntled scream than an exhalation.
I tried to organize the thoughts in my head. I feel like I'm losing my mind. And now is not the best time for that.
I also have a strange feeling all over my body. It's been since yesterday. I can't get rid of it. As if something was eating me from the inside, but this time physically. Something is wrong with me, but it can't stop me from getting Nyx and the entire organization. Even if it's the last thing I do.
*****
The sun was already slowly setting when I finished adjusting the gun. It's part of my plan to get Nyx. Sleeper charges.
I thought out every step and thought about everything that could go wrong. Every outcome.
I unconsciously bounced my leg that was off the bed while the other was under my ass.
I threw the gun on the bed with a satisfied sigh.
I checked my phone for messages or missed calls from Killian, but nothing. I called him earlier. I need to tell him that I plan to go get Nyx tonight.
I need to go back to town, to Luna's apartment, for the tracking chip I cut out of my hand yesterday.
We have to get to some remote place and break it there. Since the signal suddenly disappears, they will definitely notice. And since Nyx is in charge of me, she'll have to check. After that it's easy.
"You're just a scared child."
I looked around the room when I heard an unfamiliar male voice. No one but me was here.
"You will bring them all to ruin." I heard him again.
I slowly got up from the bed and took the gun from the bedside table. I carefully walked to the private bathroom and stopped in front of the door.
"You know it's only going to get worse now." That voice, for some reason, felt like death just walked right past me.
I reached for the handle and opened the door with a quick movement. I aimed inside, but no one was there either.
"Eris?" I aimed the gun at the front door to the room when I heard a woman's voice. "Whoa, whoa." Luna put her hands up in a defensive gesture.
"Sorry." I immediately put the gun down.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yes of course." I lied. "You need something?" I quickly walked over to the bed and put the gun down.
"Yes, I wanted to talk about your plan. When are we going to leave?"
"As soon as Killian comes back." I sat down.
"Is he coming with us?" She frowned and walked even further to my room.
"No. Of course not. I just want to let him know. He should be back any minute."
"Oh good."
And then she just stared at me, saying nothing.
"Do you need anything else or..." I shrugged.
"No. No. I guess that's all." She tried to smile and started walking away from the room. "But one more thing." She turned around when she was almost in the hallway. "Are you feeling okay? Because you look a little...not good. Maybe it's not the best idea to go anywhere today." She tried to sound as sweet as possible.
"I'm okay." I think. "And no. We'll go today. If Killian doesn't come in fifteen minutes, we're going. You should get ready."
"All right." She turned and left the room, closing the door behind her. I don't know if she believed me, but it looks like she did.
"He's going to die because of you." I overheard a voice again, but this time it was a female one.
I went back to the bathroom with the gun and searched it. There was no one.
I opened the curtains and also checked the wardrobe.
I guess I just must be paranoid.
I packed everything I needed and was ready to leave when I bumped into someone's chest at the door.
"Where do you think you're going?" I heard a familiar voice. I raised my head. To my surprise, there was also a face that belonged to that chest.
"I've been waiting for you to tell you we're going to get Nyx today."
"You can't be serious." Killian frowned. "You weren't in your right mind this morning. You can't go anywhere like this."
"Of course I can. I'm fine." I feel like I've said that word more times than my own name in the last few days.
"Lyssa." There was a warning in his voice.
"Killy." I mimicked him and noticed how his jaw clenched.
"I mean it. You can't go anywhere like this."
"Watch me." I snorted and slipped past him. I headed to the front door, where Luna was supposed to be waiting for me.
"Fine, I'll come with you then." He followed me.
"You're not part of my plan, too bad." I stopped at the door and looked around when I didn't see Luna anywhere.
"Too bad for you. I'm going. Like it or not."
"Look, just because we kissed doesn't mean we're a couple. Thank you for taking care of me today, even though I don't remember it, but I don't need you anymore. I can handle it from here on my own with Luna. We don't need anyone else." My words sounded sharp, as if I was blaming him for something.
And maybe I do blame him for something. I blame him for being such a good kisser because I want to kiss him again. I blame him for having such a good body because I want to touch him again. And I blame him for having eyes in which I get lost.
I can't afford to be distracted right now. Not even if it's him.
"I wasn't asking."
Before I could tell him anything else, Luna appeared next to us. "I thought you said he wasn't coming with us."
The moment I said he isn't, Killian said he was.
I let out a frustrated sigh and let it go. I'm not in the mood for arguments. I don't have that much energy.
Without another word, we left the villa and started walking to the car. I gave Luna the keys because I don't trust myself very much, I don't know what it is.
The first stop was Luna's apartment, from where I took a small container with a chip and returned to their car.
While I was at the apartment, Luna was tasked with telling Killian about our plan. When I returned to the car, they both fell silent. I didn't think anything of it, so I let it go.
We stopped at the second location, which was an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.
Killian's job was to stay outside and guard. Notify us if someone approaches.
Luna, she continued with me. She found a good, inconspicuous spot in the building while I dragged the metal chair, I found there, into the center of the building.
I threw the chip on the ground and crushed it with my boot. I sat on a chair, crossed one leg over the other and waited.
It would be really fun if she didn't show up.
I thought about that too. What if she didn't show up? We would have to change the plan. But I strongly doubt that she won't show up. So far, they have followed it, they must have a notification when something happens with the chip.
We waited and waited. Sometimes I looked at Luna, who had a strange expression on her face.
But when my phone rang with a message, I immediately checked it.
Killy: She's here.
A smile appeared on my face. Looks like my plan is working.
Before long, I heard the sound of the metal door and saw it open, as I was sitting opposite.
A silhouette of a woman appeared in the doorway. I knew right away that it was Nyx.
She slowly walked over to me while looking around the room. Her gaze finally fell on the broken chip in front of me. A smile appeared on her face.
"You crushed it." Her voice almost sounded like she was laughing. I don't know what's so funny about it, but I never understood Nyx. "So that was a stupid idea. Almost as stupid as Luna hiding behind the barrels. And the man outside that I know you should have avoided. Am I right?"
"And you still came alone." I tilted my head to the side and looked at her.
"You think I can't beat the former white snake, the poor mob guy and you?" She snorted. "You underestimate me."
"I don't think so, but if you sleep better at night..." I shrugged and looked at Luna, who just pointed to her ear, which meant she couldn't hear us. I didn't think about that. Our signal will either have to change or I will have to shout.
"When did you take it out?" She nodded at the ground where the chip was.
"Why does it matter?" I frowned.
"Just so." She shrugged. "You're still standing, so I take it, it hasn't been that long. Has the paranoia and hallucinations started yet?" She raised an eyebrow.
What the hell?
"I take it from your expression that they did. What about the nightmares and sudden adrenaline rushes? Excessive sweating?"
That chip wasn't just for tracking. Shit.
"Whoa, looks like someone is in trouble here." She sang. "I wanted to kill you myself, but this will take a while longer. And it will hurt a lot more."
It looks like I'm dying. Good to know. Right now, however, I have other concerns. I will have to deal with this later. I'm not important now.
I got up from my chair and started walking closer to her. I stopped a meter in front of her. "Who hired people to kill the Ackers?"
"And why should I answer that when I have the advantage."
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow and pulled out a gun from my belt, which I aimed at her head. "It doesn't look like it. I asked you a question. Answer it."
"Then where would all the fun be?" She gave me a smile that screamed psychopath.
"I'm not in the mood for fun. So let's hurry it up. Who hired the men to kill the Ackers?" I insisted, but again I didn't get an answer. On the contrary, Nyx ran towards me and snatched the gun from my hand, twisting it quite painfully.
"Still think you have the advantage?" She smiled. "On your knees." She pointed the gun at the ground for me to kneel and I obeyed her.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Luna, who looked scared.
"Would you kill me when I'm unarmed?"
"You?" She snorted. "Without hesitation." She came closer to me and put the gun to my forehead. "I could leave it to the poison running through your veins, but seeing you here like this...I can't help it."
I heard her pull the trigger, but I wasn't waiting for a bullet to fly out, because none would ever fly.
"I learned that trick from a friend." I winked at her until she realized that there were no bullets in the gun.
I kicked her legs and waited for her to hit the ground before standing up. Luna whistled at me and tossed me a gun, which I caught and aimed at Nyx.
"Sweet dreams." I shot her directly in the chest and she passed out immediately. Maybe I overdid it with the dosage. This would probably put a small elephant to sleep.
"So this was a show." Luna stopped next to me. "What was she telling you?"
That I have a poison in me that is killing me.
"Nothing." I answered her but I was looking at Nyx. "Everything is fine."

I'm dying and I won't tell anyone. Great idea Eris.
Hope you enjoyed. <3
