ADDISON
Last night was not what I expected when I went down to return his keys. I was hoping for some conversation, maybe some warmth.
But when he was so close, breathing me in and touching me, I just about died. I wanted to stay and run away all at the same time. And I didnât sleep a wink the whole night.

In the morning, I knew he was leaving and made my way downstairs. Once again, I was met with distance from him. But I was expecting it, he told me so last night.
What I didnât expect was his touch on my back. It sent tingles up my spine and down my legs.
~âWe are a hot mess, arenât we?â ~my wolf asked sheepishly.
I sighed in response before walking to the common room and grabbing an interesting-looking book off the shelf. Curling up in the corner of the massive couch, I spent most of the day there.
I groaned as I got up in the evening. My neck and back were sore from sitting in the same position for hours. As I walked back upstairs, I rubbed my neck.
It was seven, and everyone had mostly left for the evening. I had the place to myself.
All. To. Myself. Then a thought came to my mind. Slade wasnât home, which meant he wasnât in his room or using that beautiful soaker tub I had drooled over the minute I saw it.
It was decided. He wouldnât be back until tomorrow. I could wipe it down, and he would never know!
I ran to my room and grabbed my oils, salts, and some candles. I was going to soak and relax if it was the last thing I did.
Opening the door cautiously, as if Iâd get caught, I walked in and straight into the bathroom. I set my candles nearby and lit them.
Filling the tub to the brim with steaming water, I poured in some bath oils and some Epsom salts to ease my body. I stripped down and climbed in. As I lay back, relaxation took over.
~This tub is what dreams are made of~, I thought to myself as I closed my eyes.
I was jolted awake by a manâs voice. âWhat the hell are you doing?â
Snapping open my eyes, I looked over to find Slade standing in the doorway, sweaty and dirty and shirtless.
I stared for a moment before realizing what was happening. âOH MY GOSH!â I wiggled, trying to cover myself. âSlade, get out!â
âThis is MY bathroom! You get out!â
I huffed. I had gone from relaxed to flustered in 2.5 seconds. âI canât get out with you standing there! Go away!â
With a grumble, he backed out, closing the door behind him.
I climbed out, wrapping myself in a towel, and tried my best to wipe up the water that had spilled over. The drain was there, but the floor was still a bit damp.
I stood up and with a deep breath opened the bathroom door. Sitting in his chair by the window, he looked up with frustration. âWhy are you in here?â
I looked down at the floor and blushed. âIâm so sorry. You said you would be gone until tomorrow, and I was so tense, and that tub is seriously amazingâ¦â
I was so embarrassed. He had not only caught me in his room but he had also seen me in all of my naked glory.
âDo you make it a habit of making yourself at home in other peopleâs rooms?â he snapped, and I knew he was irritated. But he didnât have to be rude.
âI already apologized, Slade. What do you want from me?â I snapped, becoming irritated with his cold attitude.
He got up and walked across the room, stopping in front of me so our foreheads almost touched. âI want to come home to my own room and take a shower without worry!â
We were both struggling. But now I was mad. I shook my head at him and then walked out of the room. I stormed back into my own room and got dressed before falling back onto the bed.
âWhat does he want? He is so hot and cold. This is getting ridiculous.â
~âBut heâs our mate,â~ my wolf whispered.
But what was I supposed to do if he wouldnât let me in?
Closing my eyes, I lay there for a minute collecting myself when there was a tap at the door. Opening it, I found no one there.
I looked down the hall suspiciously before looking down and finding all of my oils and salts at the foot of my door. âLovely,â I muttered as I took them back in and shut the door louder than necessary.
