Viktor POV
âGoddess, I know itâs only been a couple of months but man, Iâve missed this place,â Cedric said with a sigh. I took my seat at my desk and chuckled.
âWeâve missed you here, Cedric,â I said.
âSo tell me. That other girl is the princess? As in, Princess Violette Dubois of the werewolves?â He asked. I nodded my head.
âYes, my slave princess,â I said. He let out a chuckle.
âI bet youâve had fun with that one.â He said. I didnât respond for a moment.
âSheâs been.. a lot. Thatâs for sure.â I said truthfully. He cocked an eyebrow at me and pulled a chair to the front of my desk.
âI see sheâs dressed nicely.. and not in servantsâ rags.â He said. I let out a sigh.
âSheâs the kingâs Slave.. Iâd much rather her look.. decent.â I said.
âDecent, huh? She looks like a princess.â He said. He was right, she does. I almost couldnât take my eyes off of her, and for some reason.. I felt anger when I thought he was referring to her as his mate.
Much to my dismay.. I was relieved when I realize she wasnât.
âWell, technically, she is a princess.â I chuckled.
âAnd a slave.â He reminded me. I nodded.
âNeed you not remind me, Cedric,â I said with a huff.
We sat in silence for a moment, before I decided to hear what heâd learned from being a spy at Violetteâs kingdom.
âTell me, what have you learned from your time away?â I asked. I was interested in finding out absolutely everything about this snake of a King.
âWell.. Arthur hasnât been seen by many of the courts servants. He stays in the castle. I intercepted some letters.. to a man named Gregor. That was.. until you had his head sent back to Arthur. Arthur didnât take that very well.â He said.
âWhat did he expect? He came here to kill Violette.â I said incredulously. Cedric shrugged his shoulders.
âWhy didnât you let Gregor kill her?â He asked.
âWell for one, I didnât get there in time. He was already dead by the time I did. Loren killed him. And two.. I donât know.â I said. He looked at me curiously.
âWhat else have you learned?â I asked.
âHeâs planning something. But he doesnât trust anyone.. not even his own guards. I donât believe heâs told a soul of what heâs planning. I tried to find out, but.. The man has gone mad. He killed two servants for being near his quarters. They were just cleaning. Ever since you took the princess.. heâs just insane.â He said.
âI did take his only living heir.â I chuckled.
âThough I do have a few questions about that. Since you named her your slave.. some rumors have gone around that you never broke her in. Is that true?â He asked. I narrowed my eyes at him.
âI have broken her in,â I said, this time.. I really wasnât lying. I thought about last night and felt.. really good.
âWhatâs that look?â He asked.
âWhat look?â I asked as I snapped out of my thoughts.
âThe look on your face when you said that. It was almost.. contentment.â He said. I shook my head.
âI donât know what you mean,â I said.
âOh donât try to hide it. I saw the way you looked at her when you thought she was my mate. You were angry. Upset, even.â He said. I shook my head once again.
âNope,â I said.
âOkay..â he threw up his hands in defeat.
âBesides, sheâs my slave. Of course, Iâd have to find pleasure in her.â I said.
Loren broke through mind link and spoke.
âMy king, Violette has returned with your meals.â He said. I stood up and replied to him.
âLet her in,â I said. The door opened and I watched as she slowly walked in. She had.. happiness on her face. Likely from her friend finding her mate. As much as I didnât want to believe it, I could tell she really cared about her friends happiness. And it made her happy to see them happy.
She stood at the doorway with a plate piled high with food in each hand.
âYou may leave them on the table in the corner of the room,â I said. She did as I said and disappeared behind the doorway.
âCome, letâs eat,â I said to Cedric. He had a smile on his face as he got up and walked out of the office, taking a seat at the table with the food. I followed him out and sat down, Violette standing peacefully by the wall opposite of us, unsure of what to do.
âMom really showed out, didnât she?â Cedric asked as he picked up a scallop with a fork.
âHer son is home. Did you expect anything different?â I asked. He shook his head no and laughed.
âViolette, will you begin working in my office?â I asked. She looked up at me with a soft smile and nodded. Thatâs different. I.. kind of liked it. she smiled.. in my direction. Towards me, of all people.
âYes, Master. I will.â She replied. I watched her disappear into my office with her cleaning supplies.
When I looked back at Cedric, he had a puckish smile on his face.
âNow, what?â I asked.
âAnd she responds without you losing your mind?â He asked.
âIt irritated me more when she wouldnât,â I said.
âAnd I wonder why that is..â he said. I rolled my eyes and plucked a strawberry off my plate and ate it. Goddess, those are good.
âSheâs definitely a looker..â he said. I dropped my hand on the table and glared at him.
âWhat? Itâs true. That gown sheâs in shows literally everything. Hard not to see when itâs out on display.â He said.
âAnd how do you think your mate would feel about you saying her best friend is a looker?â I asked. His face slightly paled.
âBest friend? A princess and a servant.. thatâs unusual.â He said.
âI thought so too. But.. theyâre nearly inseparable.â I said.
âDid you find anything out about the Princess that Iâm unaware of?â I asked. I mainly wanted to know if heâd found her mate.. or at least a name.
âFrom what the servants told me there.. they all loved her and feared her father. She was kind to them, and her father would beat her for being so.â He said. For some reason that angered me. Made my b***d boil in my skin. How could a father beat his only heir for being kind to the low-borns? If anything, thatâs what made a queen good. Was being kind.
âAnything about her.. mate?â I asked, lowering my voice just a little in hopes that she wouldnât hear.
âNothing. After I got your letter to ask around.. I tried to find anything.. but everyone swore she never found her mate. At least not to their knowledge.â He said. I sat back in my chair and sighed.
When I sent him to Arthurâs kingdom, I gave him a scent mask. It would make him smell like those he was surrounded by, and he truly smells like a servant. It made me chuckle.
âWhat are you laughing about?â He asked
âYou smell just like a servant,â I said. He gave me a death glare.
âIndeed, Iâm in need of a shower.â He laughed.
