Viktor POV
I watched as she admired every little thing she came across.. she looked.. so beautiful. I could hardly keep my eyes from her. She absolutely shined in public. Smiling at everyone she came across.. sharing kind words. Itâs weird to see her outside of the castle.
I came across a handmade blue butterfly.. one that resembled her gown and the little pins in her hair and I didnât even hesitate to buy it. I donât know whatâs gotten into me.. but after a good nightâs rest, waking up to her scent.. something just felt different. Thought, id been feeling different for a while now.. I keep feeling things change.
I took Cedricâs advice as well. Iâm showing her why I will not marry another.. showing her that she is mine. I watched from a few feet away as she stood talking to one of the vendors, a little old human lady about the items she had on sale.
From afar I saw other men admiring her beauty, and as one stepped up to her.. I let out a growl and walked over to them.
âHello, pretty lady.â The man said. Violette took a step back. As soon as he saw me, I grabbed her hand and pulled her behind me.
âMine,â I growled. It had completely caught me off guard.. as well as everyone surrounding us. Nonetheless, he put his hands up in surrender and backed away.
âAre y-you alright?â Violette asked as she pulled me towards her. Sheâd realized what sheâd done.. and lowered her head.
âIâm sorry.. I didnât me-mean to pull you..â she said softly.
âDonât be,â I replied with a gentle smile. There was hardly anything she could do to anger me anymore.
âTurn around,â I said. She let go of my hand and did so. I pulled the necklace out of my pocket and unclasped it. I moved her hair to the side and put the necklace around her neck and fastened it.
âWhat do you think?â I asked. She turned around with the pendant in her hand and smiled.
âIt m-m-matches my dress. I lo-ve it. T-thank you.â She said. She looked up at me with her soft brown eyes and my heart felt warm.
âDid you find anything for Lillian?â I asked. She moved back to the lady she was originally talking to. The lady pulled out a dainty, pearled tiara and set of matching earrings.
âI.. rem-remember Lillian loved my ti-tiaras.. I always swore I wo-ould get her one, one day.â She said sadly.
âLetâs get it. She will love it, Iâm sure of it.â I said softly. I didnât even look at the price tag as I handed the woman a wad of cash.
âI canât take all of this..â the woman said. Violette looked at me confused.
âKeep it, and weâll take the tiara and earrings,â I said. She woman bowed her head in gratitude and began to wrap the items in a soft cloth.
âT-thank you..â Violette said. I could tell she was unsure of my kindness, but it was pure. Iâm a king.. I have much to give.
The lady handed Violette the wrapped cloth and placed her hand over Violetteâs. Her eyes went white for a moment.. a thing Iâve only seen happen with seers.
âI wish you the best.. Lady Violette. You may have had an.. awful past.. but I assure you, you have a beautiful future ahead of you.â She said as she looked between us both. Her eyes saw pain.. suffering.. Iâm sure of it. But she saw something else as well. Violette smiled but was visibly confused.
âThank you.â I thanked the woman and took Violetteâs hand in mine. I felt the womanâs eyes staring at me, and I made a note in the back of my mind to visit her once again before we left.
âThat w-was odd.. did you s-ee her eyes? Iâve never seen that be-before. And s-she knew my name..â Violette said. She placed Lillianâs gifts into a small bag Iâd given her and I grabbed her hand.
âI believe sheâs a seer.. Iâve only seen the white eyes with them.â I said. She looked at me curiously but didnât say much else about it.
âDid you find some-thing for Ced-Cedric?â She asked.
âI found a blacksmith and I have him working on a project.. itâs an engraved dagger. Heâs always had a thing for daggers so I thought it would be a great wedding gift.â I said.
I heard her stomach grumble and almost chuckled.
âHungry?â I asked.
âGod-Goddess, yes.â She said. I smiled as I pulled her to the place I usually eat at when Iâm here.
âWhatâs.. B.B.Q?â She asked. I stopped and held her back for a moment as I looked at her like she was insane.
âBarbecue?â I asked.
âIâve.. never h-heard of it.â She said as she shrugged her shoulders.
âOh, itâs only the best food youâll ever taste. Come.â I said. I pulled her into the place and she looked around.
She ended up getting fried potatoes with pulled pork.. and I figured I may as well do the same. Thereâs not a place to sit and eat here.. so I walked her to a small lake that I usually sit by when I come.
I gathered some of the food in a fork and held it out for her. Goddess, I love feeding her. She chewed as she thought for a moment, then covered her mouth as she spoke.
âOh.. my g-goddess! Thatâs am-amazing!â She said happily. My heart soared at the sight.
âYou really like it?â I asked. She nodded her head.
âY-yes.. itâs a-almost better than the ba-con from this morning.â She giggled. I saw her rub her scar a few times and I reached into the bag and pulled out a vial that Beatrice had packed.
âHere. It will help with the pain.â I said softly. She took the vial and quickly drank it and stuffed it back into the bag. I held out another bite and she gladly took it.
âW-what do you th-ink she meant? The.. what did you c-all her? A seer?â She asked.
âI have not a clue,â I said. But I had a feeling it had something to do with us both.. and not just Violette.
âIt was st-strange.. but I liked her..â she said. I let out a chuckle.
âIt was strange, indeed,â I said. We continued eating until she could eat no more. After I was sure sheâd finished, I threw away our trash and grabbed her hand.
âAnything else youâd like to look at before we leave?â I asked.
âN-no.â She said softly. I waved over the guard I had following us and looked at Violette.
âI will be right back.. stay with Enzo.â I said. She nodded her head as Enzo approached.
I made my way back to the woman, I needed to know more.. it was killing me. Itching at me. And I knew she would be expecting me.
Once I made it to her stand, she turned around and smiled.
âAsk.â She said softly.
âWhat did you mean? When you said that to Violette..â I asked.
âExactly what I said.. she will have a beautiful future.. and part of it was also meant for you. But I cannot tell you too much otherwise it will not come true.â She said.
âCan you tell me anything else.. without changing it?â I asked.
âJust give it time. It will all fall into place. You will see. Trust in her.. have faith. If you donât.. everything will fall apart.. so just have faith.â She said. I needed more.. but I was afraid to push. I didnât want to affect it.
âYouâve been looking in all the wrong places, Viktor. You will see. There is more to it than you know.â She said. Everything she said was confusing.. but I didnât question any further.
âThank you,â I said. Before I turned she stopped me with her hand on my arm.
âTake this. You will need it when the time comes. But donât look, yet.. you will know when.â She said. I held the small cloth in my hand and smiled.
âThank you.. again.â I said softly.
âNo.. Thank you.â She replied with a bow.
