Violette POV

My mind raced around constantly.. I’ve even tried to pinch myself on several occasions to see if maybe I was sleeping and this was all a dream.. but I never woke.

Viktor’s eyes glaze over and the door opens.

“Good afternoon,” Beatrice says. She had a smile on her face as if she was trying her best to contain her excitement.. and even if I’m still upset, from her lying to me.. she was right.

“Good afternoon, Beatrice,” Viktor said. I didn’t look at her as I held my hands tightly in my lap.

“Just coming to check and then I will be out of your hair.” She said. She walked over to me and I finally looked up at her.

“I’m sorry.. Violette. I know you’re very upset with me but I was.. I was only trying to do the best for you. For you both.” She said. I let out a huff as I stood up and wrapped my arms around her.

“I’m sorry, too,” I said softly. She held me tightly.

“You have nothing to be sorry for. You weren’t lying, and you had every right to be angry with me..” she said. She sniffled as I pulled away.

“Now, I’ve been dying to see it. Please, may I see your mark?” She asked. I moved my hair from covering it and she gasped.

“Is this real life?” She asked. I let out a giggle.

“Yes, Beatrice. Believe me, I’ve tried waking myself thinking it is all a dream.. but I never wake.” I said. She laughed and nodded.

“I’ve tried doing the same.” She said.

“Okay, I just need you to lay down and pull up your gown. I need to examine your belly.” She said softly. I lay down like she asked and lifted my gown. Viktor sat beside me and grabbed my hand.

She felt around on my belly for a few moments but never said a word. I still don’t truly believe I’m pregnant.. but I guess after this we will know.

“Have you had any bleeding?” She asked. I shook my head.

“No bleeding. No pain.” I said. She smiled at that.

“Alright, now I just need to listen.” She said. She pulled out something I’d never seen before and plugged it into her ears, then held a cold circular thing against my lower belly. She moved it around some before stopping and gasping.

“I’ve found it.. I found the heartbeat.” She said. My eyes widened and I looked at Viktor.

“May I hear it?” I asked. She took the plugs out of her ears and gave them to me. At first, I didn’t hear anything.. and then I heard the faintest.. fastest beating sound.

I gripped Viktor’s hand tightly as I listened.. I couldn’t believe it..

“Are you certain?” I asked one last time just to be sure.

“Yes.” She said with a smile. I listened for a few more moments before pulling the plugs out and handing them to Viktor.

He put them to his ears and listened.

“Why is it so fast?” He asked.

“It is normal. Do not fret. Because it is small, the b***d pumps quicker to help it grow.” She said. A smile appeared on his face.

“We have a pup..” he said. My eyes filled with tears but I quickly pushed them back.

“I already have a set of herbs you need to take daily to ensure the optimal health of you and the pup. But so far everything seems to be perfectly normal.” She said. Viktor’s handed her back the earpieces and sighed.

“I cannot believe it.” He said softly.

“A mate and a pup..” I said.

“How far, do you think?” Viktor asked Beatrice.

“It’s hard to tell.. but I would say about a month in Wolf pregnancy time. Since the last time her heat was here.” She said.

“I must release you from being my slave.” He said. My heart quickened at the thought.

“Really?” I asked.

“I.. should’ve already had it done. I cannot keep my mate as my slave.” He said.

“That will only be more proof that I’m alive and my Father..” he cut me off.

“Your Father will not get the chance to touch you. You will be with me at all times.. I’m already coming up with a plan. So.. do not worry.” He said. He helped me sit up and pulled me into his arms.

“I should probably take my leave.. it would seem you two have much to discuss,” Beatrice said.

“Thank you.. Beatrice.” I said softly.

“No need to thank me. Call for me if either of you needs anything.” She said.

“You may go now, Beatrice,” Viktor said. Beatrice bowed her head before turning around and leaving.

“Is it real enough for you now?” Viktor asked. I nodded.

“I’m really pregnant..” I said.

“You really are.”

“What do we do now?” I asked.

“Well.. you could begin thinking of a nursery.. but you have a few months before the pup arrives, so there is no rush.” He said. He cupped my face and kissed my forehead.

“Soon I will announce your release, and.. if it’s alright with you, I’d like to announce that you’re my mate as well..” he said.

“That will surely infuriate a lot of people,” I said. He shrugged his shoulders.

“Let them be angry. I do not care. I want the world to know you’re mine.. you belong to me.” He said.

“Do as you wish. I will be standing by you for it all.” I said softly. He smiled and wrapped his arms around me and took a deep breath.

“Would you like to bathe? Eat? Maybe take Snowball for a ride?” He asked.

“A bath would be nice.. would you read to me?” I asked. He smiled.

“Of course.” He said. He helped me stand and his eyes glazed over. Not soon after, Loren and Enzo carried in my bath and began filling it.

“I will call for someone to bathe you.” He said. I put my hand on his and spoke.

“Will you call for Lillian and Sylvia?” I asked. He nodded.

“I will.”
