Violette POV

“Congratulations, Lady Violette.. you two will make the strongest pup.” One of the maids said.

“Thank you,” I said as I held my belly. She turned to walk away when I spotted Minerva in the far corner of the room glaring angrily at me. I tried my best to ignore her and grabbed Viktor’s hand.

“Is everything alright? You seem uncomfortable.” He said I shook my head and smiled.

“I’m fine,” I assured him.

“We can leave if you want..” he said as he looked at me.

“No, we should stay. They’re here to celebrate the pup.” I said. He grabbed my hand and kissed the top of it.

“I love you.” He said softly. Before I could respond, Loren walked up with a little girl holding onto his leg and a woman in his arms.

“We just wanted to say our congratulations, my King.” He said with a smile.

“Thank you, Loren.” He said.

“This is my mate, Maisie, and my little girl, Tara.” He said. His mate, Maisie, bowed her head.

“Might I say you are absolutely glowing, Princess?” She said with a smile.

“Thank you.. you’re too kind. I didn’t know Loren had a mate.. you are quite beautiful.” I said truthfully.

“Thank you.” She said with a bright smile. The little girl pulled from Loren’s leg and ran up to me and tried to climb on my lap and Loren reached for her.

“It is fine, Loren. Aren’t you just the prettiest?” I asked as I pulled her into my lap. She played with my hair and the little butterfly clips that were placed in it.

“Do you like the butterfly? Here, I think it would look far better on you.” I said as I reached for it.

“You don’t have to do that.. miss,” Loren said. I have him a stern look as I pulled it out of my hair and placed it in hers. She touched it with her little fingers and squealed.

“Oh, yes. Very beautiful, indeed.” I said with a smile. She played with it she stared at Viktor.

“Handsome, isn’t he?” I giggled. She nodded her head with a shy smile.

“You may have to take her for a dance, Viktor.” I giggled.

“Well, in that case.. May I have this dance, little one?” He asked as he held out his hand. She giggled as she grabbed his hand and he picked her up and walked to the dance floor.

“You have a beautiful family, Loren,” I said.

“Thank you, Violette. I cannot wait to meet your pup. He or she will be very loved.” He said. He turned to his mate and they bowed before he took her hand in his.

“Shall we dance?” He asked her.

“I’ve been waiting all night for you to ask.” She said with a smile. They walked off to dance with the others.

I sat there smiling as I watched my mate twirl little Tara around. My smile quickly faded when Minerva walked up to me.

“Hello, Violette.” She said. The tone of her voice was anything but pleasant.

“Hello, Minerva,” I said softly. She turned around and looked at Viktor.

“It may seem you have won his heart.” She said.

“I would agree,” I said. She looked back at me with a scowl.

“But don’t think for a moment that you’ve won. He was mine first. I don’t know what you did.. what spell he’s under but I see you.. I see you for what you truly are.” She said.

“And what exactly is that?” I asked.

“A fraud. An evil spawn of the devil himself.” She said. I let out a sigh.

“Minerva, I do not wish to be enemies. I’ve done nothing to you. I am his mate, and that is just the truth.” I said. She shook her head.

“You’re wrong.” She said. Her eyes fell to the mark that rests on my neck and she swallowed.

“I’m not,” I said flatly. She took a moment to respond.

“If I am wrong.. then let us be friends.” She said. I looked at her with narrowed eyes.

“Friends?” I asked. She forced a smile.

“Yes.” She said.

“If that is what you wish.. but I will not fight,” I said. She nodded once before bowing her head.

“As you wish.. Princess Violette. Long may you live.” She said before turning around and leaving me there.

I let out a shaky breath as I tried to gather myself. My eyes fell on Viktor, seeing his bright smile and it calmed me. I.. need a moment. But I know I cannot leave him.

Once the song ended he gave little Tara back to Loren and walked over to me.

“Would you like to dance?” He asked. He held his hand out to me and I grabbed it.

“I would love to,” I said. He helped me up and pulled me to the dance floor. He placed a hand on my side, the other in my hand. My other hand rested on his shoulder as another run began to play.

“Are you certain you’re alright? You seem off.” He said as we danced.

“Viktor, I’m fine. The pup may be in an uncomfortable position, but that is all. I’ve quite enjoyed today.” I said softly.

“We can retire to our chambers whenever you’re ready. Because I.. cannot bear to look at you without being able to take you.” He said with a smile.

“Viktor! You know they can hear us.” I giggled. We are surrounded by Lycans.. or did he forget?

“Let them. I want them to know you’re mine.. that you make my heart soar with love.. and other things..” he said. I bit my l*p as I smiled.

“You’re crazy,” I said.

“Only for you, my love.” He spun me around and pulled me against his chest.

“You really do look breathtaking. And seeing you with Loren’s pup.. goddess, I can’t wait until ours arrives.” He said. I wrapped my arms under his and lay my head on his chest.

“I love you,” I said softly.

“You know, that’s the first time you’ve said that.” He said. I nodded my head.

“I know..” I said.

“Now, we definitely need to get through this night so I can take you to bed and make you cum several times.” He said. I threw my head back and laughed.

“You are something else,” I said. My eyes met his and he sighed softly.

“I love you, too.” He said.
