"Father" I heard Katerina say again. I looked back at the old man; his face was hard and almost angry.
"Kat, you know I didn't come down for your games. I still haven't forgiven you for what you did as a parent." He said. I looked up at Katerina confused. Katerina rested her arm around my shoulders.
"Yes father I know. I wish you would forgive me" Katerina bowed her head.
"Forgive you? However can I do that when you adopted her" He thrust his hands at me. I flinched back.
"I'm sorry father I just...I saw her and I....I'm sorry" Katerina could barely talk. I never saw any of them like this before.
"Sorry doesn't cut it. Katerina, you put the whole family in danger by standing by while jade flirted with all the boys in town" He said. He walked past us and into the house still talking to Katerina.
"Again I am sorry father" she said. He walked out of the room and Katerina followed by him, leaving me alone in front of the big open door. I looked out of it and saw a dark figure by the trees just leaning on a tree and watching the house in a suite. Was he family? I didn't think about it too much for it to give me a head ach so I closed the door and remembered the conversation with Ina's dad. I almost felt unwanted.
"Hazel! I've been looking for you" I heard Liz say. She walked up from behind me and slid her hand in mine. She sniffed the air.
"Is uncle here?"Â Liz questioned.
"If you mean Katerina's father then yes they just went out that way" I said pointing towards the curved entry leading to the place everyone was going too.
"Ohh, Let's go talk to him" Liz said pulling me by the hand towards the living room...I didn't talk much but I watched as Liz jumped from person to person to great and hug them. I was just following her in a weird silence. Everyone I passed looked at me in hunger. I felt sick and light headed.

A bright light hit my eye lids and I opened my eyes. There was the sound of sizzling and burning above my head; that sounded like bacon on the stove.
"Ahh!" I heard someone say. Then something moved from under me....Ian? I sat up and looked at Ian at the edge of my bed. He had his left hand up to his cheek.
"Ian, What happened?" I asked him. I started to find my way out of the cocoon I made with the covers.
"The sun just burned my face a little" He said. I looked and the window by my bed was cracked open with the sun light gleaming through the crack. I crawled over to the edge of my bed and closed the window then I slowly walked over on my knees to were Ian was.
"Let me see" I said as I lightly pulled his hand from his face.
"It's gone" I said. There was nothing there. The skin on his face looked fine like nothing happened.
"I heal fast" He said he pulled my hand from his face and sighed. I sat back down on my bed. "Why were you in my bed again?" I asked him
"I was protecting you while you slept" Ian smiled at me. "Hurry and get dressed in something casual, breakfast is ready" Ian said. He lightly touched his face again then he walked out.
He was wearing normal dark jeans and a grey sweater. So I pulled out some of my clothes and put on a jean skirt and a purple top and a jean jacket. I pulled my dark hair that was still a little curled into a pony tail. I lightly put some mascara on and a little lip gloss.
I pulled on my black flats I wore with everything and I walked down the hall and down the gold trimmed stairs. When I walked into the dining hall I saw that Liz, Ian and my new parents sitting down. I smiled as I smelt the hot fresh smell of pancakes and syrup.
"hmmm smells so good in here" I commented. Katerina smiled at me. "So you guys still eat human food?"
"We do but it doesn't taste the same to us than it does to you." Katerina said.
"Sit next to me and Arthur, Hazel" Katerina said. I sat between Katerina and Liz. Arthur was on the other side of Katerina and Ian was on the other side of the table across from Liz.
"Good morning Hazel" I heard Arthur say. I looked over and smiled at him. I was still a little confused on how he felt towards me but I had a feeling our relationship would work out.
"Morning Father" I whispered. Buddy came in with hot plates of food and behind him was Katerina's father he was holding some dishes too. They both set down plates of pancakes and eggs.
"Is Lucas eating?" I head Katerina's father ask.
"Yes John, He will be here soon" Arthur said. He had a sharp sting to his voice and it shocked me. I turned to Liz she was biting her lip and looking down at her plate. I felt a tension between the two men.
"Thank you Arthur" John said. He pulled a handkerchief from his coat pocket and set it down in his lap as he sat down across from Arthur. They seemed to be having a stare down.
"Good morning my pretty's" Lucas said as he stood in the dining room door way. He was leaning on the door edge and he was wearing a black button up and the first buttons at the top were unbuttoned showing a little of his chest. He wore black pants. His dark hair in his face like normal and brushed a little bit messy.
"Lucas, Button up yourself" Katerina said next to me.
"Awe Auntie don't be like that, It's the style" Lucas said. He looked at me and winked. I frowned at Lucas, obviously annoyed at his gestures.
"Lucas, is mum and dad coming?" Ian asked Lucas. Lucas shrugged.
"They haven't come out of there room since last night" Lucas said. He sat down across from me and next to John, Ina's father.
"Good morning, great Uncle" Lucas said patting John on the back.
"Ian, do you know if my mother coming down?" Liz asked. Ian paused a moment.
"I haven't seen your mother this whole visit. How is she?" Ian asked.
"Shy, she hasn't been out of our room. She keeps to herself now" Liz said as she pierced her breakfast with a fork as if angry.
"You have parents here?" I asked.
"Just my mom. Father died" Liz answered quickly.
"So no siblings?" I asked.
"None" she answered.
"You're sort of like Ian and Lucas's little sister though, huh?" I asked hoping to cheer her up. She seemed saddened by her lack of a primary family.
"Oh heavens no, Ian and I are just cousins" Liz said. She bit into her breakfast smiling now.
"Oh, you guys just seemed so close" I said. Ian smiled at me. "it seems that way"
"If I had Liz as a sister I would cut my head off and put a stake through my heart" Lucas said. Everyone at the table froze. I felt Katerina's head snap up. There was an awkward silence.
"Lucas! How dare you say those words? If my sister was in here she would smack you" Katerina said.
"My mother knows better than to smack a grown man at a table" Lucas said.
"Lucas, It's very rude to talk about death that way" Ian said.
"Oh please brother, you know I would never kill myself." Lucas said. Ian rolled his eyes and went back to his breakfast.
"Wait. You guys...can die?" I asked. This time John answered.
"Yes. There is only one way though." Katerina's father said.
"That's...interesting" I said. I sipped my milk.
"Something feels so wrong lately, Arthur don't you think?" Katerina asked Arthur changing the subject.
"Kind of like something is coming" Arthur said. He paid little attention from the subject and kept staring at Uncle John.
"Yes I felt it too auntie" Liz said.
"I don't feel anything" I commented. I felt stupid after i said those words; i mean of course i wouldn't feel things like them. I'm not a vampire.
"I think...something may be coming...something bad." John said. He shook his head and closed his eyes. I felt scared now. The way he said it, it made goose bumps form on my arms. Chills roll up my back.
"Liz pass the bread will you?" Lucas asked.
