Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Arianna Gilbert (Vampire Diaries)Words: 32914

I look over at Damon, a slight grin on my face. I gesture towards the scared Elena in front of us, wiggling my eyebrows. He rolls his eyes, shaking his head. Seriously? He used to live to scare Elena...

I glare at him, and I'm sure my eyes portray how much I want to kill him. He looks startled for a second before regaining himself. He shakes his head, giving me a small smile. My glare fades, and I perk up, really excited to scare her. Even if it's just a little bit. But I think I scare her all the time now. Good.

Damon and I speed up behind Elena, both of us whispering, "Elena."

She spins around, shining her flashlight right in our eyes. She jumps about ten feet, looking ready to shit herself. I try my hardest to hold in my laugh. She glares at us both, smacking our arms. "God you guys!"

"Scaredy cat." I smirk, my eyes shining with amusement.

"Just ignore them, that's what I do." Ric sighs, giving both Damon and I a blank stare. Hey! I thought he was on our side.

"So you two really can't get in?" Elena asks, her heartbeat returning to normal.

Damon shake his head, "No, seems like even the ancient Lockwood's were anti-vampire."

"What do you mean ancient?" Elena frowns.

"See for yourself." I say, walking a little further. I sigh, when I hold out my hand hitting the barrier in front of me. "Well, this is as far as Damon and I get to go."

I slide down the wall, sitting on the floor across from Damon. I pick up a small pebble, tossing it at Damon's head. Since he's distracted, it hits him right in the forehead. He glares at me, firing the pebble right back at me. I smirk, catching it before it can hit me.

"Too slow." I tease, throwing the pebble past the barrier. Don't need to keep throwing that because I have a bad feeling I'll end up with it making a hole in my forehead...

"What is all this?" Elena asks, looking at what Damon and I can't see since it's past this damn barrier. Stupid thing.

"As far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple archeological terms, it's a really, really old story." Ric explains, shining his flashlight on something. "That right there is a moon cycle. A man, a wolf."

"A werewolf?" Elena breathes out, in that annoying tone of hers. How did I ever like her when I was human? Probably because she was my twin...I guess she still is.

"Yeah, it's the Lockwood diaries, pictionary style." Damon sighs, causing me to scoff. Really the Lockwood diaries? Guess that would make my life the Vampire Diaries then.

"I don't understand...I thought the Lockwood's came here with the original founders in the 1860's?" Elena says.

"Maybe the Lockwood's did, but according to this wall these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that." Ric states, using all his history knowledge and shit.

"How long?" Elena asks.

"Long." I answer for him, "It gets better, show her Ric." Ric has already explained to Damon and I what's in there, and it's pretty interesting. But super confusing at the same time.

"Names, they're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script." Ric tells her.

"Vikings?" Elena confirms, almost sounding amused.

"This name here translated reads...Niklaus."

"Klaus." Elena whispers, needing to repeat what he just said. That is not necessary. We all know it's Klaus Elena.

"Elijah." I wince, hearing his name. He's still dagger in a coffin because Klaus betrayed him. "And Rebekah." Yeah...Bekah is probably off killing someone right now. She does that when she's bored and she can't tell me enough that this town in boring.

"These are the names of the Original family?" I bet you Elena is frowning why saying that.

"Carved into a cave that's been here since way before the founding of Mystic Falls. Or even the entire new world for that matter." Ric confirms.

"Okay, this has got to be one of Klaus' fakes." Elena insists, causing me to roll my eyes.

"That's why I said, but then Aria threw me into a wall." Damon sighs. Yeah, I did throw him into a wall. It was fun.

"It could be but the last name up here made us think otherwise, and Aria of course." Ric adds, causing me to smirk. I love making people afraid of me, it's just so much fun these days.

"What's the last name?" Elena asks.

"Mikeal." Ric replies.

"Mikeal...as in the vampire hunter who knows how to kill Klaus?" Elena questions.

"Yup. I like to now call him Poppa Original." Damon says.

--------------

"These images tell a story. To learn the story you have to decipher these images." Ric sighs, looking at all the pictures he took of the drawings. We're back in Ric's man cave so he can 'decipher' the images.

I bring my foot back right into Damon's shin causing him to loosen his hold on me, letting me to slide out of his grip. I grab his wrist, spinning around and throwing him down onto the floor. He groans, that obviously having hurt his back a little. I quickly grab the stake out of his hand, straddling him and holding it lazily above his heart.

"So sloppy for an old man." I tease, tracing the point of the stake over his chest.

"So cocky for a kid." Damon smirks, quickly switching our positions. He forces my arms above my head, squeezing my right one until I drop the stake. He grabs it, thinking he has one. Uh ah, I'm not giving up so easily.

I wrap my leg around him, trying to throw him off me. It doesn't work of course but it does distract him. I get one of my arms free, pushing him off me. I jump up, smirking slightly.

"Maybe I have a right to be cocky old man." I grin before kicking him into the wall. He hits the wall, dropping the stake. I speed over about to grab it but Damon recovers quick. He grabs my wrist, pushing it back to the point where it's about to snap.

He pushes me against the wall, holding the stake above my heart. "You don't have one Ari." he whispers in my ear, before pulling away. I glare at him, knowing he's right. He's older, I don't really have a good chance of beating him.

"Are you two done killing each other?" Elena demands, narrowing her eyes at us.

"Yeah I'm done killing him so now I can move onto you." I smirk, taking a step closer to her. She rolls her eyes, turning back towards the pictures. Wow, don't turn your back on me missy.

"Ghost of Christmas Past, Mason Lockwood, said that the cave would lead us to a weapon that could kill Klaus." Damon explains.

"Yeah but doesn't Mikeal have a weapon?" I frown.

"Yes, which means the cave will probably lead us to Mikeal. Who we've already found, and lost." Damon sighs.

"These images at the very least might tell us what that weapon is." Ric shrugs.

"Then all we have to do is find out what they mean." Elena says, once again stating the obvious.

"Fine, fine. If I'm being irrationally optimistic like you guys, how do you suppose we do that?" Damon forces a smile.

"Well since the story is about the Original family living here, and I'm pretty hooked up with that family. We might as well just go straight to the source." I smirk.

--------------

I shake my head, a small smile on my face as I watch Bekah do about five backflips towards us. Such a showoff. But it's good because she got a spot on the cheer team. We both like it when she shows up Caroline.

Bekah smirks at me, "Finally, about time you decided to spend time with me."

"Trust me girl, I wish we could go grab some Starbucks together. But, my sister needs to ask you some stuff." I tip my head back, gesturing to Elena behind me.

"You." Rebekah glares.

"We need to talk." Elena states.

"About what?" Rebekah sighs, "Stefan? Don't worry, I'm off from him until he starts treating me better. In fact you should probably take a page out of my book if I'm being honest."

"Actually I'd rather talk about this." Elena holds up the photo of Rebekah's name from the cave. Rebekah looks at the photo, slightly horrified. "I'm curious as to why you and your brother have spent a thousand years running from your father."

Rebekah opens her mouth to say something but shuts it again. "I should get back to the girls, Homecoming is right around the corner."

"Well, I'll just ask Mikeal when we wake him." Elena shrugs, using that bitchy tone of hers.

Rebekah stops, turning around, a nervous smile on her face. "You're bluffing. Isn't she Aria? You two don't know where he is, no one does."

"So then who's rotting in that old cemetery in Charlotte?" Elena questions.

Rebekah stalks towards her, obviously pissed off now. "If you wake Mikeal, we're all doomed."

"So then tell us Bekah. Elena has an annoying habit of getting what she wants no matter what." I sigh.

"Why do you want to know?" she seethes, giving Elena a death glare.

"Why don't you want me to wake him?" Elena fires back.

Rebekah stares at her for a moment, "I need to get back to the girls." she turns on her heel, slowly walking away from us.

"Pissing her off Lena, not a good move." I point out, watching her retreating form.

"She can't hurt me. Klaus won't allow it." Elena shrugs.

"Bitch please." I laugh, "If Rebekah wants you dead, no force in this whole world can stop her. Even Klaus. So you better watch your bitchy demands around her because she won't put up with it."

-------------

"How's everything going there love?" Klaus asks, in that annoying British voice of his. Well...I guess it's not annoying, it's actually pretty hot. Ugh, shut up Aria. Now.

"Amazing. Did you know that Damon and Elena devised a plan to stop Stefan and I. It included Damon vervaining me, then throwing me into a car, which by the way caught on fire. I could have died. It wasn't very fun. Oh and then a bunch of ghosts came back." I tell him, leaving out the part about Mikeal and the cave. He doesn't need to know that.

"Sounds fun." Klaus comments.

"Oh yeah, it's a blast." I deadpan, wishing he could see my glare right now.

"How's my sister doing?" he asks, like he cares or something. He just left her here. Can't care that much.

"Considering the fact she was abandoned, pretty good. She's established herself into high school, and became a queen bee. She's a cheerleader. It annoys Caroline which makes it pretty awesome."

"Are you alright?" he questions, surprising me. Does he actually care if I am or something?

"Pretty good considering the circumstances I guess. Being here with Damon and Elena isn't easy. I kind of want to kill my sister right now. Actually, I really want to." I sigh.

"But you won't, two reasons. I would kill you, and I would kill you." Klaus answers, being so fucking depressing. Can't he be a little light hearted or something.

"That's technically one." I grumble.

"Talk to you later love, got to go. Hybrids to make." I hear his smirk, I literally hear it. I roll my eyes, hanging up my phone. Only Klaus could make you hear a smirk.

"My brother has a weird fondness for you Aria, I haven't seen him care about someone like he cares for you in a long time." Rebekah smiles, coming into the room.

I glare at her, "Were you listening to my conversation Rebekah?"

She shrugs, "Maybe."

I roll my eyes, "So when is my sister coming? You did tell her you would talk didn't you?"

"Unfortunately, I hate talking to your sister. She's unpleasant." Rebekah sighs, leading me out into the main room. She turns on the speaker, blasting out some pop song that I don't really care for. She grabs a bottle of champagne, wiggling her eyebrows at me. I nod my head absentmindedly, walking into the other room. I stop short at what I see.

"Ah...Bekah, why are there a bunch of girls in dresses in here?" I frown before adding, "Compelled girls..."

"They're here to help you and I find a Homecoming dress. I thought your witch sister would help me pick one." Rebekah smirks, pouring me a glass of champagne.

I look at it for a second, "Can they be here to provide me a drink?" I grin.

"Not yet, if Elena doesn't comply with me, then I'll let you eat one." she shrugs.

"I never said eat." I mutter, giving her a weird look. I hear the door open, and Rebekah walks back into the other room. I sigh, preparing myself for Elena. I know she's going to act all bitchy and shit.

"Hey what's up?" Rebekah smiles, actually sounding pleasant. But I know it's fake so...

"You invited me over...to talk." Elena says.

"Alright girls have at it." Rebekah calls out casting all the dress girls to come out, lining up in a straight line. "Okay, now twirl please." she commands, and they do it without thought.

"You compelled your own private runway show?" Elena questions.

"Aria and I need homecoming dresses, so what do you think? Pick two." Rebekah says, giving her a duh look.

Elena sighs annoyed, shaking her head. "I'm not here to help you two shop. I'm here to talk about why you don't want me to wake up Mikeal." Rebekah gives my sister a forced smile, before giving me a little nod.

I speed over to a blond girl, pulling her head back to reveal her neck. I feel my fangs come out and veins appear underneath my eyes. My vampire face. Yes. That is what I now shall call it. "She told you to pick some dresses Lena. I advise you to listen."

Elena looks startled but more pissed off, "The red one for Rebekah, and the black and green one for you Aria."

"Can I still take a bite Bekah, I'm hungry." I whine, hearing her pulse pound beneath her skin. That's one thing I hate about being a vampire. Being able to hear everything, such as pulses. And blood flowing...

"Leave, forget everything that happened." Rebekah compels the girls, all of them walking away. I glare at her, actually having really wanted a taste. That sounds so wrong...oh my God, shut up Aria!

Rebekah stalks over to Elena, a menacing look on her face. "You do not threaten me. You learn what I allow you to learn. Is that clear?"

Oh, get it Rebekah.

Elena looks down at the floor, giving a nervous nod of her head. Good, she scared her. Elena deserves it. Rebekah walks past her, going upstairs. I start to follow her but turn around to face Elena.

"I told you Elena, Rebekah won't put up with you. So control your bitchy little tongue and maybe, just maybe, Rebekah won't eat you for dinner. Actually you wouldn't even be dinner. More like an appetizer." I smirk, speeding upstairs. Rebekah smirks back at me, having heard me snap at Elena. I can't help it anymore. My sister makes me want to kill people. Sometimes I want to kill her these days.

"You're wrong about that Aria, she's not even good enough to make a snack of."

----------------

"Isn't this fun?" Rebekah grins, as we just barge into Stefan's room. Well, it's technically my room now to. All my stuff is littered around the room, making it a mess.

Elena hangs back outside the doorframe, a sad look on her face. "We shouldn't be here."

"Of course we should, it is my room now two." I smirk, winking at Elena to make her even more pissed off. She rolls her eyes, still not coming into the room. "Oh come on Elena, haven't you ever wanted to snoop?" I open Stefan's drawer, pulling out a pair of his boxers.

Rebekah takes them from me, frowning. "Boxer briefs, now that's a change from he 20's."

Elena scoffs at her comment, "Are you going to rummage though his stuff all night or are you gonna tell me your story?"

Rebekah sighs, "Ugh, you really are no fun. What do you want to know?"

"Well Elijah said your father was a landowner in Europe, how did you guys end up here?" Elena asks.

"My parents had just started a family when a plague struck there homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect there future family from the same fate."

"So how did you end up here?" Elena repeats, "This part of the world hadn't even been discovered yet."

Rebekah laughs a little, "Not by anyone in your history books. But my mother knew the witch Ayanna, who heard from the sprits about a mystical land where everyone was healthy. Blessed by the gifts of speed, strength...that lead my family here. Where we lives amongst those people."

"The werewolves?" I clarify.

"To us they were just our neighbors. My family lived in peace with them for over 20 years during which time my family had more children. Including me."

"You make it sound so normal." Elena almost smiles.

"It was." Rebekah smiles, lost in thought. "Once a month our family was treated to the caves beneath our village. The wolves would howl through the night and by morning we would return home. One full moon Klaus and my youngest brother, Hendrix, snuck out to watch the men turn into beasts. That was forbidden. Hendrix payed the price. And that was the beginning of the end of peace with our neighbors. And one of the last moments my family had together as humans."

A phone buzzing, brings Rebekah out of her trance. She shakes her head, obviously trying to get rid of the memories. My blood boils, knowing exactly who is calling her.

"You better get that. That'll be Damon checking up on you." I growl, restraining myself from snapping her neck.

Elena answers the phone, music blaring from the other end. "Hello?"

"Hey." Damon answers from the other end like they're best buddies and shit.

"Damon, where are you?" she frowns.

"No idea but I'm pretty sure I'm overdressed..." he replies, "Still standing? My girlfriend hasn't ate you right? Or her new bestie?" I roll my eyes, at the use of girlfriend in the sentence. Can we even be classified as boyfriend and girlfriend still?

"Yes I'm fine, I can't talk right now." Elena says, and I vaguely hear what sounds like Stefan in the background. Where the hell has he been? I've been calling him for days. "Is that Stefan?" she frowns.

"Yeah, I kind of went of the book but don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

"Damon how could you let him out?!" she demands, okay, so they locked him up somewhere. Not cool, so not cool.

"I got his Elena." Damon sighs before hanging up the phone. I almost smile at how annoyed he sounded. That as the tone he always used with her before I left.

The second Elena looks up, I am in front of her, a dangerous look in my eyes. "What did you do to Stefan? And are you the reason he hasn't been answering my calls?"

"Lexi and I locked him up when the ghost came back for a few hours. He was supposed to stay locked up but Damon let him out to do some brother bonding apparently. He needed to stay in there Aria, he's not himself." Elena glares.

"You're right Elena, he's not himself. He's better. So if I find out you lock him up again, well, I'll put you in his place and you can see how it feels to be starved and alone." I growl.

Elena narrows her eyes at me, not showing any fear for once. "I didn't know you cared about my boyfriend so much Aria."

"Your boyfriend?" I laugh, "The only reason he hasn't made you a meal Elena is because Klaus compelled him not to."

Elena glares at me, "What? Like Damon is still your boyfriend? When you were gone, he didn't mention you once Aria. It's like he just forgot about you. But then again, he did come crawling straight to me."

I growl, shoving her into the wall, my hand wrapped around her throat. She gasps, struggling to breathe as I lift her a few inches of the floor. After a few moments of gasping, I slam her head against the wall before letting her go.

She falls to the floor, still gasping for breath, and rubbing her sore neck. Her eyes are unfocused meaning I hit her head a lot harder than I meant to. Oh well, she deserved it.

I kneel down next to her, an amused look in my eyes. "At least I know that Damon will run right back to me if I let him. Could you say the same thing about Stefan? Because right now, I think he'd come running back to me. I guess that kind of makes me Katherine since I have both of the Salvatore boys under my spell." I smirk standing up, feeling Rebekah staring at me. "Something to say to me Bekah?" I demand.

"No, nothing at all." she says, still giving me that weird look. I shake my head, heading out the door and into the hallway. I need a little space. Being locked in there with Elena is messing with me. It's making me like...Katherine.

I pull out my phone, dialing his number. He answers on the fourth ring, "Ari, what a pleasure to have her grace calling me."

"Shut up asshole I didn't call for you, I need to talk to Stefan." I sigh.

"What? I'm not bad enough for you anymore?" he questions, telling me that he is a little bit drunk. "I used to be your bad boy now Klaus and Stefan come before me on that list. Where am I on it now? Underneath Jeremy?"

"Don't worry Damon, you're first on my jackass list. Now put Stefan on the phone."

"Wow, so hurt." he mumbles, and I hear static on the other end for a few moments. I tap my foot on the floor, starting to get impatient.

"Aria, it's been forever." Stefan teases, answering the phone finally.

"Tell me about it. You need to call Klaus, he's been bugging me about it for days. His texts every five minutes are starting to get annoying. I think he's a little too attached to you Stef." I say.

Stefan sighs, "Why does he even care? Not like I can disobey him or anything."

"He still wants reports, remember he thinks he's the commander of an army. So I guess that would make us his lieutenants." I frown.

"Whatever I'll give him a call, happy?"

"Not really, but it makes me slightly less angry." I tell him before hanging up the phone. I stand there for a second, taking deep breaths to try and calm myself down. I was already angry enough before becoming a vampire and being a vampire really amplifies it. That's why I'm sometimes so bitchy. When I was with Klaus I was kind of carefree so I was pretty chill. Now being here, back to all my problems, not so chill anymore. I actually don't have one once of chill in me. If that makes sense...

"Have you calmed yourself?" Rebekah sighs as I walk back into the room. I give her a stiff nod, avoiding looking at Elena. I'm trying to block her out all together. I need to get myself together. Rebekah gets up off Stefan's bed, walking over to his table and picking up a photo of him and Elena when they looked all happy and shit. "Honestly I don't get you two as a couple."

"Why would you?" Elena laughs slightly. "You don't know anything about who he really is."

Rebekah smirks, leaning over the table, glaring at Elena. "I know exactly who he is. He's a vampire. We're a predatory species, we don't have time to care about humans and there silly little lives."

"Is that why you did that little runway show earlier? Because you don't care about the homecoming dance?" Elena smirks slightly, thinking she's all that. "You know what, I'm just gonna go." Elena sighs, starting to head towards the door.

"You haven't even heard half the story." Rebekah points out.

"And you're not going to tell it. You're just bored and want someone to push around. I guess Aria isn't good enough...Maybe you could compel yourself another friend." Elena shrugs, making me clench my fists. Keep it together Aria. Keep your mouth shut and just let them go at it.

"The necklace wasn't Stefan's to give. It belonged to the Original Witch." Rebekah explains, letting Elena's harassment work.

"The one who put the Hybrid curse on Klaus?"

"Not just the hybrid curse, she's the one who turned us into vampires...My prince begged Ayanna, saying they needed to protect our family. They didn't want to suffer another loss." Rebekah states, a faraway look in her eyes. She seems to snap out of it, shaking her head once. "I'm thirsty? You two want a drink?"

I follow Elena and Rebekah out of the room, trailing behind them. "So vampirism was a form of protection?" Elena clarifies.

"What else would it be?" Rebekah frowns.

"A curse." Elena says, casing me to roll my eyes. She thinks being a vampire sucks, and you're miserable. Trust me, it's quite the opposite. At least for me.

"My parents saw it as a way of keeping their children alive."

"Yeah but, why stay? If they were so afraid of the werewolves why not leave?" Elena questions.

"Pride. My father didn't want to run anymore, he wanted to fight and be superior to the wolves. Where they could bite, we had to bite harder. Where they had speed, we had to be faster. Agility, strength...senses." Rebekah explains, and I can tell it pisses her off even now. It's almost like she would have rather run. "They begged Ayanna to help us, pleaded with her. Ayanna refused, saying the spirits would turn on them. It was on my mother's hands to protect us."

"In her hands, how could she do anything?" I ask.

"Because my mother was also a witch." Rebekah smiles.

"What?" Elena breathes out.

"The witch of the Original Family. The Original Witch." Rebekah says in a duh tone, walking into the living room. Rebekah looks around, a frown on her face. "Where do they keep the best vintage?" she asks me.

"The best is in Damon's bedroom." I shrug, looking at the old bourbon they have sitting out. It tastes kind of stale these days, Damon has been a little preoccupied to switch it.

"You would know." Rebekah smirks.

"Yeah I would." I grin, sending a quick look at Elena. She avoids my eyes, looking at the floor. Good. I hope she knows that Damon will always choose me over her. I hope...

"If your Mom was a witch, are-"

"Am I? No." Rebekah fills in. "A witch is nature's servant, a vampire is an abomination of nature." Rebekah pulls out a bottle of unopened bourbon, pouring it into two cups. She hands me one, which I take without hesitation. I need a few drinks. "You can either be one or the other, never both. My Mother did this for us, she did not turn."

"How did you turn?" Elena asks the same question I am thinking.

"She called upon the sun for life, and the ancient White Oak tree. One of nature's eternal objects for immortality. That night my Father offered us wine laced with blood...and that night he drove his sword through our hearts."

"He killed you?" I whisper horrified.

"And he wasn't delicate about it either. My brother, Niklaus, and I woke up in a room, disoriented and...scared. I saw the blood on my gown, and I knew Father had killed me. But I didn't know how I was alive. My Father brought in a town's girl, telling us we had to finish what we started. At first Nik and I were hesitant, but we couldn't hold out for long. It was euphoric, the power was indescribable. But the witch, Ayanna, was right about the consequences. The spirits turned on us and nature fought back.

For every strength there would be a weakness. The sun became our enemy, it kept us indoors for weeks. Although my Mother found a solution, there were other problems. Neighbors who had opened up there home to us, now wanted to keep us out. The flowers at the base of the White Oak burned and prevented compulsion. And the spell decreed that the tree that gave us life, could also take it away. So we burned it to the ground.

But the darkest consequence was something my parents never anticipated, the hunger. Blood made us reborn and it was blood we craved above all else. We could not control it. And with that, the predatory species was born."

"That was a great lesson in vamp history. We done now?" I sigh, already having finished three drinks.

"But why did Mikeal start hunting Klaus?" Elena wonders, totally ignoring me. Great, guess we aren't done.

"When Nik made his first human kill, it triggered his werewolf gene. With that he became my Father's greatest shame." Rebekah explains.

"Yeah, Elijah told us this part of the story. Your Mother had an affair with one of the werewolf villagers. Klaus wasn't his son." Elena says, Elijah's name once again bringing me pain. I miss that old guy so much.

"My Mother wanted to make it right. She put the Hybrid curse on Nik to suppress his werewolf side, and she turned her back on him. But Mikeal's greatest weakness as a human was his pride. As a vampire that was magnified. He went on a rampage and killed half the village. Then he came home and killed her."

"Mikeal killed your mother?" Elena breathe out horrified. That's evil, no wonder the Mikaelson's are so hardened and afraid to let people in. Especially Klaus...

Rebekah turns around to face us, "He said she broke his heart so he would break hers. He tore it from her chest as Nik watched. Afterwards he took off in a rage and the rest of my family scattered. Nik stayed so he could help me bury her. He knew I had to say goodbye to my Mother. Elijah, Klaus and I promised we would stay together...Always and forever."

"Always and forever...even though he locked you in a coffin for 90 years?" I frown.

"We're vampires Aria, you should know our emotions are heightened. I'm stubborn, Elijah is moral, and Nik...Nik has no tolerance for those who disappoint him. Over a thousand years as a family we've all made that mistake at least once. I've made it several times." Rebekah looks like she's trying not to cry, and I place a comforting hand on her shoulder, giving her a smile. She smiles back grateful for the comfort.

"Yet you still love him?" Elena demands, not understanding the bond this family has.

"He's my brother, and I'm immortal. Should I spend an eternity alone instead?" Rebekah questions, glaring at Elena. Rebekah shakes her head, walking past Elena. "You've heard the story it's time to go. I said leave Elena! I don't know what you're up to but I'm no longer playing along."

"I'm just looking for one good reason why we shouldn't wake Mikeal." Elena says, still not heading towards the door.

"And I've given you a thousand. But you will anyway, I know you want him to help you kill my brother, I'm not stupid." Rebekah hisses.

"It's no secret I want Klaus dead, he has a hold over Stefan's life. And over mine." Elena argues, and I don't know why it makes me so mad to hear that she wants Klaus dead. It really pisses me off.

"Do what you want, wake Mikeal at your own peril. But make no mistake, if you come after my brother, I will rip you apart. And I get my temper from my Father. Also, if you wake Mikeal, he'll come after Aria. He won't just kill Klaus. He will kill whoever my brother cares about, and he cares about Aria. More than he has cared for someone in a long time. But then again, you don't' seem to care if your sister dies, but I have a feeling she won't be gentle with you either if you try and come after my brother. Now leave." she commands, stepping aside to let her pass.

Elena keeps her head down, walking quickly out the door in silence. I speed after her, slamming the door shut behind her before facing Rebekah with a glare. "Klaus cares deeply for me? Really?"

She shrugs, "It's true Aria, and you care for my brother. It's easy to see."

"We had this conversation earlier Rebekah, I don't want to have it again." I glare at her one last time, before heading out the door. I start to walk away but stop when I get a few feet. Why does it bother me to hear that?

Oh God...

It doesn't bother me, does it? I'm just trying to hide it...I actually do care for Klaus in some messed up way and he cares about me in some even more messed up way...

----------------

"Never thought I'd be happy to see you." I smile as Stefan walks in the door, throwing his jacket on the bed.

"Never thought you would either." he sighs, sitting down next to me on the bed. "Damon and I met Mikeal today. Apparently he's awake."

I look up at the ceiling, a groan escaping my lips. "Of course he is. Is he as much of an ass as I think he is?"

"Yup." Stefan nods, popping the p.

"Great, so we're all pretty much screwed." I say, falling back onto the bed. Stefan falls back next to me, looking lost in his thoughts. I frown, studying his expression. "Aren't you supposed to have no humanity, you seem awful brooding..."

"I'm not brooding anymore Aria." he argues.

"Yeah um...tell that to your face." I shrug.

"I can't tell something to my own face." he sighs.

"I know, but you, you Stefan, need to realize it. I know Elena may not see it, but I see it. You're not lost Stefan, you're just hanging over the edge. But, you know what, I think someone is going to help you up soon. And I think Damon knows that too. That's why he helped you." I say softly.

"You sound like Elena now." he glares, but it's a weak one.

I laugh, "Guess I should shut up then huh?"

"Yeah, you should." he agrees, a slight smile on his face.

"One more thing before I stop. Don't let Klaus dictate your life. Hearing Rebekah today, I know that Klaus wants to have control over everyone Stefan. Don't let him control you. He compelled you to turn off your emotions, not to keep them off. If you want your humanity back, then fight for it. Not for me. Not for Elena. Fight for Damon. He needs you, and you need him. Don't let Klaus ruin what's left of your bond. Fight for it Stefan, I know you can. Because I promise you, it's something worth fighting for."

Stefan turns over on his side, facing me. "What about you Aria? Klaus may not have compelled you, but he still has control over you. My lack of feelings apparently are a problem, but your feelings are a problem."

I let out a deep breath, "I know, and I've finally realized that. My feelings for Klaus will keep me from doing what I need to do. But, my feelings for Damon are so much stronger. And that Stefan, that is what will make me strong. Because in the end, I will always choose Damon. Always."
