Ruth wore an offâshoulder pink dress, looking youthful.
She lowered her head slightly. Her cheeks were flushed, obviously a little shy.
She followed Daniel into the cafe. She did not dare to look into his eyes when they sat down opposite each other. She lowered her head and took out a gift box. âMr. Jones, this is a gift from me. I hope you like it.â
Daniel was stunned.
He had not expected her to bring him gifts.
He initially did not want it, but at that moment, he could not bring himself to reject it.
âI have a few gifts with me, too. If I were to reject her gifts, she might reject mine, too. Iâll be in trouble later on.
âThank you, Ms. Willis.â
He took the gift and put it on the table.
Ruth blinked and said, âDonât you want to see whatâs in it?»
Daniel suddenly felt a rush when he saw those eyes.
He coughed and shifted his gaze to the gift box. It was a black tie, embellished with diamondâshaped plaids. The design looked fashionable and unique.
âI like it,â he said genuinely.
âThatâs great.â Ruth looked happy as she smiled happily. âMr. Jones, you donât have to call me Ms.
Willis. You can call me Ruth.â
âMs. Ruthâ¦â
âMr. Jones, you donât have to call me Miss. It sounds as if weâre strangers.â
He coughed and said, âRuth, you donât have to call me Mr. Jones, too. Call me Daniel.â
âYou look like youâre older than me, arenât you?â Ruthâs eyes lit up. âNice to meet you, Daniel.â
She reached out her hand generously.
Daniel raised his hand too.
The two of them shook hands, and they felt a rush in their hearts, as if an electric current had spread from their palms to their hearts.
The atmosphere suddenly felt awkward.
He lowered his head and took out a few gifts. ââIâve also picked some gifts for you. Have a look and let me know if you like it.â
âDaniel, why did you buy me gifts again?â Ruth said firmly, âYouâve given me too many things. I canât take anything more from you anymore. Take them back with you.â
He already had a plan in mind. âIf you donât accept this, Iâll give you back the tie you gave me, too.â She pouted, and could only compromise. âAlright, then. But this will be the last time, okay? Donât give me any more gifts the next time we go on a date.â
âDate.â
Daniel felt a warm, fuzzy feeling in him. He looked at her again. She was a bright and charming girl.
Her frowns and smiles were very vivid.
Over the past four years, the Jones family has fallen apart. Aunt Zhenny and Jasmine have moved out of the Jones familyâs mansion. Grandpa is bedridden, and Father has spent this whole time trying to look for Adinaâ¦
There is no joy in the Jones family.
âIf I were to bring Ruth home, the mansion would become lively again.â
Just as he thought of that, he instantly returned to his senses.
âWhat am I thinking?!â
âDaniel, youâre wasting so much money again. These high heels look expensive, and so is the handbagâ¦â
Ruth was genuinely shocked.
âWeâve only met for three days, but he has given me things worth millions of dollars!â
