George gave Harold a pointed look, and Harold suppressed the excitement in his heart. His big black eyes were shining and reflected Adeenaâs silhouette.
Her feelings became even more complicated.
She had always thought herself to be rather quickâwitted, but why could she not see the intentions of these people in front of her?
âIâm going to the hospital with Aunt Deena. Do not follow us,â Duke said in a low voice as he stood up.
âHuh? Aunt Deena, are you sick?â Melodyâs eyes were filled with concern.
âIâm fine,â Adeena said exasperatedly. âIâm just getting a checkâup, donât worry.â
Duke stood beside her with one hand in his pocket. His voice turned a little colder. âGeorge, take care of your siblings, weâll be heading off first.â
âAlright, Daddy.â George nodded in response.
It was not until the car disappeared from the entrance of the mansion that the four children reluctantly looked away.
âSob, when will we get to properly call her Mommy?â Harold sighed.
Alden said slowly, âDaddy must be thinking of courting Mommy all over again.â
George nodded. âAlthough Mommy lost her memories, she still has feelings for us, deep in her heart.â
âCan Daddy do it?â Melody was very worried. âMommy seems a little opposed to Daddy getting close to her. Should we help him?â
Harold linked. âWithout our help, Daddy would take at least a month to court Mommy.â âA month?â
Alden sneered. âYou give Daddy too much credit. Iâd give it at least half a year.â âHalf a year is too long.â George shook his head. âWeâve lost Mommy for four years, we canât wait any longer.â
âHow about thisâ¦â
Alden beckoned, and the four children huddled together.
UPLO The car drove smoothly down the road, and the warm spring breeze blew in.
The car was not going too fast, so the wind was gentle and refreshing.
âMr. Winters, Iâm not going to the hospital. You can drop me off at the city center,â Adeena said softly.
Duke held the steering wheel and said in a strong voice, âHave the checkâup first. You can leave after that. Iâll wait for the results on your behalf.â
Adeena was speechless.
Since this man had put his words in such a manner, there was not much she could do to go against it.
She pursed her lips and said nothing.
The car quickly stopped at the entrance of a private hospital that Winters Corporation invested 1. in.
He had already called to make an appointment. As soon as the two of them entered, a nurse courteously brought them to the doctorâs office.
Duke led Adeena to sit down and consulted the doctor, âShe has been suffering from cramps for several years now. She had one when she was taking a shower, and she couldnât get up. Can you perform a comprehensive examination of her body, doctor?â
The doctor had already received Dukeâs order in private. He pushed up his glasses and slowly said, âCases like this, in particular spasms in the limbs, usually suggest a hidden problem in the body. We might need to do an MRI, a color Doppler ultrasound, and a blood testâ¦â
Duke ordered to have all the inspections done.
Looking at the pile of prescriptions in her hand, Adeena scowled. âIs all this necessary?â
She had been going for regular checkâups every week in Cloud City and the doctor said that she had no major issuesâ¦
Duke looked at her unquestionably. âThe doctor has spoken. Your lips are purple, and there must be something wrong with your heart. Itâll give us some reassurance to have it checked.â
He had to know what was going on with her bodyâ¦
âSome of the results of these tests would take three days to come out, but you donât have to make an extra trip here. Iâll send the results to you in person once theyâre out,â Duke said softly again.
Adina pursed her lips.
This man really cared about her body, and if so, she had to take care of herself too.
