The sunlight from the setting sun shone in, and the room glowed with orange light.
Adeena stood by the window as she looked out the window and indifferently asked, âWhat would you like to say to me, Mr. Winters?â âIâve seen the news online, but please believe me. Itâs definitely not what the Internet says.â
Dukeâs voice was husky, and he spoke seriously.
Adeena did not expect him to go straight to the point. She initially thought that he would be avoiding it.
She turned around with an indifferent smile and said, âI was curious, so I searched for Mdm. Wintersâ
photos. Then, I realized that we look really alike. Mr. Winters, how do you explain that?â
Right after she spoke, Duke became silent.
He had encountered dozens of projects that cost tens of billions of dollars, yet he could handle them without any difficulty and a single frown.
But he did not know how to explain the current situation.
Could he say that she and Mdm. Winters were actually the same person?
If he told her that, would it trigger her old memories?

âIâm sorry, Mr. Winters. I shouldnât ask such personal questions.â Adeenaâs smile became brighter. âI just didnât expect to be favored by you only because my face resembles that of Mdm. Winters. I wonder if Iâm lucky or unfortunate.â
Duke looked at her affectionately.
His black eyes were full of emotions that she did not understand.
She turned around. âMr. Winters, please leave. Iâd like to rest now.â
âAddy, no matter what youâre thinking, I just want to tell youâ¦â Duke took a breath before he softly said, âI love you. I love you more than you can imagine.â
He dared not hear Adeenaâs reply.
He turned around and left the room hastily.
Daniel was still in the living room, staring at the door that was tightly shut.
Meanwhile, Ruth lowered her head and clenched her fists.
She had never felt ugly, but ever since Adeena showed up, she had seemingly become an ugly woman.

âDan, you really love Adeena, donât you?â Ruth spoke in a resigned tone.

Daniel looked at her.
He saw disappointment, sadness, and reluctance in the girlâs eyes.

âI donât want your compensation !â Ruthâs tears fell. âI just want you to tell me why Adeenaâs better than me. Why do you like her?â
Daniel frowned again. âItâs not what you think. She and I arenât in that kind of relationship. Youâ¦â
Halfway through his sentence, the room door was opened, and Duke came out.
Daniel immediately rushed toward Adeenaâs room.
It had been four years since he last saw his sister.
He wanted to ask her if she had lived well over the past four years. Duke instantly grabbed his arm.
âThereâll be plenty of chances to talk. Come back with me first.â
He dragged Daniel out by force, and the living room door was slammed shut. Brady had been totally dumbfounded from the beginning. âWhatâs happening?â
Ruth was stunned too.
Duke and Daniel did not look like love rivals to herâ¦
Although both of them were there for Adeena, there was no competition between them.
