Just then, the bell in the preschool rang.
School was over. A group of four-year-old children ran out happily. Dew raised her finger and sneered.
âYour daughterâs coming out. She looks exactly like you when you were a child.â
She made it sound as if she had seen Melody countless times â¦â¦
âIâll always remember how my two sons died four years ago. One day, Iâll make you pay with your blood.â Adina grabbed Dew by the collar. âIf you dare to hurt my daughter, Iâll scrape the flesh off your body piece by piece!â The hatred in her eyes was so strong like an endless fire. Dewâs heart tightened for a while. She forced herself to calm down and said, âIâm your sister and the childâs aunt. Why would I hurt her?â
She moved out of Adinaâs grip before she took a step back and coldly said, âI didnât prepare a gift this time, so I wonât say hello to your daughter. Goodbye!â After she finished speaking, she turned around and left. She only had one purpose for todayâs visit, which was to confirm whether Adina really had a daughter. Since the matter was confirmed, she had no reason to stay any longer. Dew then drove away. If she had stayed there thirty seconds longer, she would have been able to see Alden, who was running over quickly, Then, she would have found out that this child also called Adina âMom.â She could have even noticed that Alden and George looked about 70% similar. âMom, what happened?â
Alden looked anxious as he asked Adina. If there had not been too many children surrounding him and his sister just now, he would have rushed over to protect his mom. Adina smiled gently. âI ran into an acquaintance and had a chat. Itâs fine. Come on, letâs go home.â
Alden pursed his lips and could not remain silent. âMom, that person was Dew, right?â
Adina became silent.
Alden had been smart since he was a baby, so she really could not hide anything from him.
She led the two children to the car before she slowly said, âNo matter what Dew plans to do, Iâll protect you. Donât be afraid.â

âBaby, donât be afraid. Daddyâs going to protect you.â A man came forward and carried the little girl. The little girl wrapped her arms around the manâs neck and broke into a smile. âDaddyâs a big hero. Daddyâs here to protect me. Iâm not afraid of anything!â The two of them laughed as they walked away. Melody leaned on the window, and her eyes were filled with sadness. âDaddyâ¦â she murmured softly.
Her voice was very low.
âMel, did you say something?â Alden had good hearing, so he turned around and looked at her.
