Ninian looked anxious.
âThis matter is obviously my own problem, but instead of asking me to take accountability, Harold took the responsibility. Itâs unfair to him.
âThis makes me feel even guiltier.â
When Mrs. Tuffin noticed Ninian was trying to stand up, she hurriedly said, âOh, please donât move around! Your wound still hasnât recovered.â
Her siblings, who were outside the room, suddenly became quiet when they heard some noise from her room.
Alden and Melody swiftly pushed the door and entered the room. Behind them were George, looking indifferent, and Harold, who looked aggrieved.
âGrapie, youâre awake!â
Melody stepped forward first. She squatted beside Ninianâs bed and held her hand, âDo you feel any pain? Are you feeling any better?â
Alden was standing beside her. Although he didnât say anything, he looked worried.
âIâm⦠Iâm fineâ¦â Ninian said. Her voice was so hoarse that it made everyone worried.
âDrink some water first.â Alden had already opened the thermos cup on the nightstand, inserted a straw, and handed it to her.
After Ninian was done drinking, she took out her phone and typed, [Al, Mel, Iâm sorry for making you two worry about me.]
âSilly girl.â Melody patted her head and said with teary eyes, âIt has only been a while, why did you wear yourself down like this?â
The rest of them had unpleasant expressions on their faces as well.
She shook her head and replied, [This was just an accident. Donât worry. Please donât blame Hal, itâs:
faultâ¦â
Alden looked indifferent when he read it.
s my âWho else should I blame, then? You and Mel are the ones we are always worried about. We let it slide when he didnât plan to take over our family business. We arenât pressuring him to do that. But heâs already by your side, yet he was still unable to protect you. He even joined the fun and hid this matter from us.â
âIf I was the eldest, instead of giving him thirty strokes by the house rule, Iâd beat him and teach him a lesson by myself!â
This was Aldenâs first time getting so worked up. The atmosphere in the room was tense.
Harold lowered his head and slumped his shoulder. He was not able to talk back because what Alden said was true.
âAlâ¦â
Ninian sat up and grabbed his sleeve.
âGrapie!â Melody exclaimed, but Ninian stopped her.
Her face was pale as she looked at Alden with her wide, pleading eyes. She then said in a hoarse voice, âDonât⦠donât blame himâ¦â
Everyone in the room could not bear seeing her like this.
Harold could not help but took a couple of steps back and said, âGrapie, lay back on your bed. Donât worry about this! Iâm a man, I will face my own consequences!â
Melody turned and looked at Alden with teary eyes. âAlâ¦â
Alden shifted his gaze from them with a solemn expression.
The people around him might not know it, but he had been clenching his fist the whole time.
His gaze was as cold as ice as he said, âLock Harold in the secret room. I will punish him with the thirty strokes myself!â
Ninian became agitated. She almost fell off her bed.
Melody hurriedly supported her. Her face looked calm, but she looked worried, and her heart ached for her.
âAlâ¦â Ninian said as she grabbed Aldenâs shirt. âPunish me⦠Iâll take the punishmentâ¦â
