Duncan looked at them coldly before saying in a low and stern voice, âGo back and do what you need
to do. Iâll deal with the immediate familyâs affair. You are not needed here.
âIf you disobey me, youâre disobeying the head of the family.
âThereâs no need for any interrogation or explanations. Do as I say. Now, scram!â
Duncanâs voice was cold and domineering. The rest of the family members who were still trying to raise
a fuss. suddenly quietened down and stood still.
Even though there was still reluctance and anger in their gazes, no one dared to speak out or stop him.
It was truly horrifying to see the furious head of the family and the sick Everett.
None of them dared to protest anything anymore.
The gate was finally closed, once again.
The housekeeper stood at the door, looked at them, and said, âEveryone, please go back. Instead of
staying here, itâs better to return and keep your posts. The Craig family needs everyone to work
together to get through times like this.â
They were repressed, and later on, deterred by binding interests.
The members of the crowd were no fools. Even if they knew what this âconspiracyâ was about, they still had to follow Duncanâs command.
When the rest of the family members who were still not content to let the matter rest saw Duncanâs trusted followers obeying his command, they had no choice but to comply as well.
The rest of the Craig family had finally retreated.
At the Craig familyâs mansion, Duncan led the Winters siblings through the garden and into the main building.
He pressed the elevator button and went down to the basement.
âThere are two rooms here. Rowan is held in one and Everett is in the other,â Duncan said indifferently.
Harold was shocked. âYou put Everett in here?â
The Craig familyâs mansion was similar to the Winters familyâs mansion. They both had basements used for matters that the public must not know of.
It was also known as the underground prison.
It was cold, damp, and enclosed with high walls on all sides with no windows. The only opening it had was a small one at the iron door, which was used to deliver meals for the prisoners.
The prisoners in there would neither hear a sound nor see any light. They could only feel the endless passage of time.
This wasâthe most torturous place a person could be.
Harold was not surprised that Rowan was imprisoned here. However, he did not expect Everett to be placed here as well.
âIs Duncan truly his brother?
âDid they have some kind of internal dispute?â
Harold became even more puzzled.
Duncan looked at Harold with askance. His expression darkened and said angrily, âDo you really think Iâll put Everett in here? He wanted it, and right now, he needs to stay put for the time being!â
âWhat do you mean?â Harold was at a loss.
Alden frowned and asked, âDoes the biochip only trigger within a certain distance?â
Duncan looked at him in surprise. After a while, he said, As expected from the third son of the Winters
family, no one can hide anything from you. Fortunately, weâre a family, not enemies. Otherwise, Iâll have
to keep a close eye on you.â
The Winters siblingsâ expressions darkened when they â(
heard this.
âYouâre being funny, Mr. Craig. We will absolutely never be a family. You might need to take a number
and queue up.â Alden said sarcastically.
âThatâs right!â Harold said angrily, âMr. Craig, letâs get back to business. If we talk too much, we might
not be able to get things done.â
George was the calmest and most methodical of them all. But as he spoke, he dropped all pretenses, âI
suggest we should go our own ways after this cooperation.â
Ninian did not know whether to laugh or cry when she saw how cold her three brothers acted.
But now she was not in the mood to care about other things. The thought of Everett being in this
basement and being manipulated by other people made her feel agitated.
So, she stepped forward and urged in a low voice, âMr. Craig, please continue.â
