Something happened to me in the afternoon, so I couldnât attend the meeting,â she said casually. Duke sized her up. He realized that she was in good spirits, so he guessed that it might not have been anything serious. While he scrutinized Adina, Flint scrutinized him in return.
Flint had known Adina for four years. He was more aware than Adina about the men who pursued her.
