Chapter 881 Under the cold gaze of Mr. Jones and Dillon, she swallowed her pride. âAddy, Iâm very sorry.â (That is quite alright. I will not take it to heart,â said Adina, waving her hand generously. âI_3 still have too many things to deal with, so lâll leave first.â She turned around on her high heels and left the study.
Dillon chased after her. âAddy, wonât you stay for at least a meal?â âI already ate dinner. In fact, I rushed here right after finishing my meal. It hasnât even had time to digest yet.â Adina smiled at her father.
âDad, you donât need to see me out. I can go.â
Dillon took two more steps forward as he did not want to part with his daughter. Although he had reunited with her, he didnât get too many chances to actually spend time with her. He had never had the chance to shower her with fatherly affection. âAddy, please wait a minute,â said Dillon. âI bought something for you. Take it back with you.â Adina wanted to refuse politely. But Dillon had already gone to his room. He returned carrying several big bags. âHere are a few dresses. I chose them myself,â he said. âI think they will suit you very well. These bags here have jewelry made of jadeite. Your mother liked them a lot. I thought maybe you would like them, too.â
He did not know what to give as a gift to his twentyâsomething daughter. He had never had the time to get to know her properly. So, he bought her clothes, jewelry, and skin care products that he thought most people liked.
Adina sighed. She realized that her father was getting old. She also knew that his love for her wasnât just fatherly affection, it was also mixed with regret and guilt he felt for her mother.
She was about to thank him when a shooting pain wrecked the back of her head. That feelingâ¦
Dillon loved her. And she could feel how much he cared for her. It triggered the chip in her.
Adina suddenly turned callous. âI donât need any of these. Iâll leave first.â
She quickly left the Jones familyâs mansion. Dillon carried a dozen bags so he couldnât follow her out.
Adina walked to the door of the Jones familyâs mansion and took a deep breath. She had been able to resist the chipâs orders! She had finally found a way to fight the voice in her head.
As long as she was indifferent enough and did not feel the love of others, she could live and work without being controlled. Adina sighed sadly. So many people loved her. How could she possibly be indifferent to them?
âAddy, what happened?â A man approached her and wrapped his arms around her slender waist.
Adina was startled. âDidnât you go to the Winters Corporation? How did you return so quickly?â
âThereâs nothing important I need to deal with at the Winters Corporation, so I didnât leave.â
Duke hugged her and helped her into the car. âWhat happened?â
âThere was some misunderstanding regarding the project. Itâs all sorted now. Itâs not a big deal.â Adina smiled. âLetâs go home.â
