Ashila's P.o.v

"Despite the fact that was epic, you're still getting detention." Miss Hawkes tells me. She looks down and holds her hand over her mouth trying not to laugh. She had been trying to hold her laughter in all the way over from the cafeteria and only now accepting it. "That was the funniest thing I've ever seen. She almost cried." She adds. She had explained to me that she didn't like the other headmasters that much but due to regulation she had to maintain a professional relationship and... then I kinda stopped listening. Oops.

"Can I ask a stupid question?" I ask once she sobers up.

"I wouldn't expect anything different." She laughs.

Playfully rolling my eyes back a ask "is it necessary the others get detention too? It was my fault the food fight started". The others were all up at there rooms changing out of their clothes as they had been major targets however lucky for me I was mostly clean.

"Yeah I'm sorry but she was very clear in telling me she wanted you all to be suspended but lucky for you I'm amazing and you only get a few lunch detentions... as long as you stay out of trouble you should be fine." She says the last part eyeing me suspiciously.

"Me? Get in trouble? Ha what even?." I retort acting offended.

"Come on. Let's get you to detention." She says standing up.

Walking into the classroom where detention was being held my friends stopped talking and looked over at me smiling. They all looked so happy despite where they were and what just happened.

"That was the most fun I think I've ever had." Tyler states.

"Yeah me too." Eli adds in as I take my seat in between Morgan and Ameia.

"Ash?" Tyler asks looking like he's not sure what to say next.

"Yeah?"

"I just wanted to say you've changed us. For the better. You are the better and you've... I mean... I think I'm just trying to say..." Tyler grunts in annoyance as he stumbles over his word.

Ameia tilts her head over and rests it on my shoulder. Her slightly damp hair giving me a cool touch through my shirt fabric. "What he's trying to say is thanks. Thanks for charging into this school and full speed and being you because you make us be us." She's says.

Tyler nods. "Exactly what I said."

"You are the best thing that ever happened to me Ashila Summer." Rylan chimes in. He's sitting at the desk in front of me but sitting in his seat backwards so he's looking at me directly. "Who are you and what makes you so perfect?"

"I have no idea who I am... but that's okay... because I have you guys." I say smiling at the group of people I call friends.

______

"Mummy can you tell the story again please?" The little girl sitting in front of me asked.

"Again?" I ask smiling.

"Yes but this time you have to tell us with all the swear words. Not just some of them." The boy sitting next her spoke up. The rest of the kids humming in agreement.

"If auntie Morgs or auntie Mia know that I told you guys this version they'd skin me alive!" I say standing up from the couch.

"Why would we skin you alive?" Amelia asks walking into the lounge room. Shit.

"You're not teaching the kids swears again are you?" Morgan chimes in looking concerned.

"No of course not." I tell her.

"Fudge folding doodle monkeys!"

"I beg your pardon mister!" Morgan says to the boy.

"Sorry Mumma." The boy smiles hold his hands over his mouth.

"I have no clue where he got that from." I say faking confusion.

"Ashilaaa..." Ameia says with a pointed look.

"Where's my baby at?" Rylan asks walking in after Tyler.

"Right here daddy!" The girl squeals.

"You are a traitor!" I say to the girl making her laugh.

"I need to tell you a secret daddy!" The small girl says leaning into Rylan.

"Okay what is it?" He says listening carefully. "Mums teaching you swear words!" He then blurts out.

"Was not!" I blurt out.

"Are too!" She poked her tongue out at me.

"We've talked about this Ash." Morgan laughs.

"They are just like birds. They repeat everything you say." Eli tells me in a matter of fact tone.

"Did you just refer to our kids as birds?" Ameia asks.

"I think it's funny." I shrug.

"I think you're crazy." Rylan retorts.

"What's all the fuss about? Is Ash teaching you guys naughty words again?" Jimmy says as he walks in.

"Jimmy!" The children run to hug the elderly man. He had felt accustomed to the name and decided that's what he wanted the kids to call him instead of his real name. He had told me not long after I graduated that his real name was Jeramiah but once I started calling him that it just didn't feel right. He always said he liked Jimmy better anyways.

"Come on let's eat before it gets cold." Jimmy says making everyone move to the table.

"Could you go call get the twins please." Ameia asks as she helps her little girl settle into her high chair.

I walk over to the stairs and yell for the boys. "Zack! Cody!"

"Will you stop calling them that. It's not his name." Eli walks past me laughing. "Zac and Cole! C'mon boys, lunch is ready!"

"I think it should've been. And I also think it's funny" I say as the two boys race past us.

Rylan stands next to me holding the small girl that called me mummy only moments ago. He stares at me as I watch everyone gather around the dining table.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask.

"Because you're beautiful." He says effortlessly.

"Gross." I poke my tongue out smiling.

"You're supposed to say thank you!" The small girl in his arms tells me wearing a toothy grin.

"Oh right sorry my bad." I smile at the cheeky little girl as she asks to be put down and walks over to the table trying to get herself into her chair. Rylan follows her over and helps her up into her chair.

Looking over everybody I smile. This is my family. This is who I am. This is who I want to be.

The end.

A/n: yay it's finished. Kinda didn't want to name everyone in this last scene so you guys could add your own touch and imagine it how you thought her life would turn out.

Also sorry about the long authors note but there will be two other stories in this series but I'm not really sure when I will start putting them up.

I'm really happy with most of how this turned out but some parts are so cringeworthy and badly written so I'll be editing and rewriting parts soon. Thank you for finishing and going through this journey with me ❤️❤️❤️❤️
