"Hey mom!" Sadie called out and walked over to her. She wrapped her arm around her moms shoulders and leaned down so her mom could kiss her cheek. Aunt Laura was shorter than I had expected where as both Skye and Sadie where nearly six feet tall like me she was only about five feet tall. Sadie stepped around her and disappeared inside, followed by Andrea who gave Aunt Laura a quick hug. "Go on chicken little," Ryan whispered in my ear. I turned and was about to smack him but thought better of it and glanced at my Aunt.
"Come on," Skye said and grabbed me by the arm she dragged me towards the door and her waiting mother. "Hey mom," Skye said. She loosened her grip on my arm and I thought she was going to let me go but instead she shoved me towards her mom. I stumbled and almost feel but Aunt Laura quickly reached out and steadied me. "Me and Sadie brought you a gift," Skye said and duck past us.
"Thank you, girls," Aunt Laura called into the house with a smile. I heard both Sadie and Skye start laughing. "We better go in or dinner will get cold," she said. I nodded and walked past her into the house. The walls were painted a pale peach that made it feel homey. The hallway wasn't long and had a couple doorways leading off into different rooms at the far back of the hall were stairs that lead to the bedrooms probably. I could smell the dinner off to my left and followed my nose to the dinning room table. Ryan and Aunt Laura followed behind me as I took in the house. On the table there were to chicken, a bowl of steamed carrots and another bowl of red skinned potatoes. I sat down in an empty seat next to Skye trying to look like I was perfectly comfortable.
"So how did you manage to get her to come?" Aunt Laura asked. She picked up a plate and started filling it up with food before handing it to Andrea and started on the next one. "Saved her from getting in a fight with Aspen," Sadie said. Aunt Laura shot a disapproving look at me as she handed me my plate of food. "Really, you not even back two days and with no memories you pick up right were you left off with Ember's sister?" Aunt Laura asked. I almost choked on my chicken. "Ember's sister?" I asked. "Yes," four different voices replied. "That....thing is related to Ember and Carson?" I asked just to clarify. "Yes" they all replied again.
"She's not a thing Kylie, she's a person and your best friends older sister," Aunt Laura lectured. "Um..." I started but she kept going. "I know you may not remember that Ember's your best friend but she does and no matter what happens it won't change that, so from now on you could at least try and keep that in mind," I nodded not quite sure what else to do I mean she did have a fair point.
Diner was enjoyable after that even Andrea didn't send so many murderous glares my way and when she did they weren't as cold as before.
We were halfway through dinner when the door opened and than slammed shut rattling the house walls. "Savannah! You're late!" Aunt Laura called. A girl about thirteen or fourteen walked into the room, she grabbed a drum stick off the table and bit into it. She was dressed in all black and her blonde hair had streaks of dark red running through them. A guitar case was hanging off her left shoulder.
"Opps," she replied around the chicken. Aunt Laura looked pissed as she took in her youngest daughter. "Go upstairs and clean yourself up than come back down and eat with us properly," Aunt Laura ordered. "Why your all almost done anyway," she said and tossed the cleaned chicken boon back on the table. Savannah turned to leave. I'm not sure why but my hand snaked out and grabbed her wrist before she left.
"Let go," she said and tugged at her arm. I stood up and turned to face her. I wasn't sure what exactly I was doing but I couldn't seem to stop. "Hey let go!" She said tugging at her wrist, "seriously Kye stop messing with me," she growled.

It were her words that did it suddenly I wasn't in the dinning room anymore but in the forest. Behind me I could hear the twigs snap as my little cousin tried to chase after me. I was watching her for Aunt Laura while she took Sadie and Skye into town for a soccer game and Uncle Levi was on patrol and wouldn't be home for the rest of the week.
"Kye," her voice called out, " stop running!" She called after me. I ducked behind a tree and waited for the little six year old to run by. "Come on stop messing with me," she called out. I jumped out from my spot behind the tree and grabbed her. She squealed as we fell towards the ground. "Kye, your a bully," she said. She looked up at me with a scowl on her face. "I'm sorry Savvy, your just so cute when you pout," I told her. "Go away," she said. "Are you sure you want me to? You just spent an hour chasing after me," I teased. "Did not!" She said. I just smiled and stood up pulling her with me. "If you say so," I replied. "You know if you used your nose, you would have realized I was behind you," I told her as I brushed the leaves out of her hair. "I was but I could still smell you so I thought you were still in front of me," she said still pouting. "So you can track you just can't locate yet, well that's super helpful," I said. She shoved me but it didn't do much. So I grabbed her around the waist and stared to tickle her. She squealed again and started laughing and wiggling around. We both ended up laying on the forest floor looking up at the sky through the canopy of trees. We were silent for a while but suddenly she moved closer towards means I wrapped my arm around her protectively. I was always so protective of Savvy more than anyone else even more than Ember, she was my little cousin and I wouldn't let anyone hurt her.
"Do you like me more than Skye?" Savvy asked me suddenly. "Why?" I asked her confused. Skye and I were friends and I was closer with her than with Sadie. Sadie was always hanging out with Andrea and Aspen pretending like we didn't exist. I just didn't get why it mattered who I liked or didn't like they were family and pack I cared about them all even Sadie and her friends. "Because you always do stuff with Skye that you don't do with me," she said.
I sat up and looked at her closely she was really only two years younger than me the same age difference as me and Skye but Skye was more of a friend who I could get in trouble with, Savvy was someone I had to protect from trouble not drag into it. "I love you and Skye and Sadie the same just in different ways," I told her. I wasn't sure if that would satisfy her but she seemed happy with that answer and smiled at me. "So how are we different?" She asked after a while. "I don't mind dragging Skye into something troublesome but you I feel protective over I couldn't drag you into trouble," I told her. "Is that ok with you?" I asked worried she wouldn't want me to try and protect her. "It's fine so long as you promise to always be there to protect me," she said finally. I smiled down at her. "Of course," I told her.

"Kye," someone said. "Oi, wake up your smothering me!" They said louder. I was laying on top someone and my head was pounding. What had just happened wasn't I just in the woods with Savvy? I rolled off of whoever I was laying on top of and fell to the floor next to them. "God my head hurts," I said than winced at the sound of my voice. Everything was to loud I could hear six different heart beats including my own and I could hear their breathing. My head felt like I had been banging it against a wall.
I finally opened my eyes and looked up at a ceiling. The ceiling was familiar I had seen it from nearly this exact position many times before when I got into it with Sadie and she ended up knocking me on me butt. But how did I get here I was just in the woods out side right? No that wasn't right I felt like I was missing something but my head hurt to badly and I couldn't sort it out. I thought back to the memory in the woods something felt off about it. I couldn't remember anything before it or after it.
"Kye? Are you alright?" Someone asked. I winced at the sound of their voice. "No! please just be quiet my head is killing me," I told the voice in a whisper. I didn't want to sit up or open my eyes I just wanted to lay here until the agony stopped, so that's what I did. I laid on the floor with my eyes close I could hear the other people in the room but no one said anything and no one moved. My head was just starting to feel better when the door went flying open and four people came charging into the room. "I brought the Alpha," Ryan called out from the main hall. I cringed and rolled into a ball as they came storming through the house. Someone stopped them and the pain receded a bit.
I listened to the whispered conversation that I still heard even though it was in the door way to the room. "She came to a few minutes before you got hear but all she said was that her head was killing her. She didn't move again until you showed up and she rolled into a ball and covered her ears," someone said.
A pair of footsteps made their way towards me getting louder as they did. "Please stop," I whimpered. I couldn't take it, I don't think I was ever in so much pain. The foot steps stopped and no one moved no one said a thing, but I could still hear their heartbeats and their breathing and with even more people in the houses it was torture. I couldn't help the whine that escaped my lips it hurt but in a way it made me feel better so I let another one escape than another. Suddenly arms wrapped around me and someone pulled me into their chest their heartbeat so close it filled my head and blocked the other noises out. I pulled myself closer seeking to refuge. I stayed there for what felt like an hour before the nose level dropped back down to normal and the headache disappeared. As soon as the headache went away I remembered everything that happened clearly and I sighed in relief as I recalled the dinner and my family and even my regular case of amnesia because it was better than the unfamiliar. I pulled away from whoever was holding me and opened my eyes to see Savvy. "Feeling better?" She whispered. I nodded and pulled away from her sitting up. Everyone was staring at me from different places across the room. Raiza stood in the center of the room I guessed she belonged to the pair of footsteps I had heard making their was towards me. I stood up pulling Savvy with me, it was a familiar gesture and one I was quite glad to remember. Raiza slowly made her way over to me as if not to startle me and when she stopped in front of me she pulled me into her arms. It was comforting and I had to admit I could definitely use the Alpha's comfort right now.
"Let's get you to the infirmary," she told me and started to lead me from the room. Normally I would have insisted I was fine but I wasn't so sure I was anymore. The walk to the infirmary seemed surprisingly short, I wasn't sure if anyone else followed us but I'm pretty sure most of them did. Raiza walked me into one of the exam rooms and sat down on the bench with me. One of the healers entered the room quickly and made their way over to me. "Raiza she's alright now you can go wait in the hall with the rest," the plump older man said. "I'm not leaving," she stated simply. "Really Raiza I won't hurt her," the healer said. "She is one of my pups and she was in pain and I couldn't even get close to her without inflicting more pain on her. I am not leaving her side until I know for a fact she is alright," Raiza said her voice dripping with the power of an Alpha. The healer couldn't argue with her on that so he just nodded and started examining me.
He checked the size of my pupils and asked me some pointless questions before carting me off to get a CT scan. After that he put both his hands on the side of my head. They quickly became hotter and I wanted to pull my head away but Raiza held me still. Finally he removed his hands from my head and gave me a curious look. "Well?" Raiza snapped. "From what I can tell there is nothing wrong with her," the healer said. "Bull-" Raiza started but he cut her off which surprised me but Raiza didn't kill him so I guess he knew what he was doing. "But something is blocking her memeories and whenever she does remember it is because her wolf is starting to stir," the doctor said. "Meaning what exactly?" Raiza asked for me. "When her wolf truly awakens on her birthday then she should also get her memories back. All of them. But," he paused and looked away from me. "But?" Raiza prodded. "I'm not sure of the side effect the spell will have when she shifts for the first time," he finished.
"Wait my memories are gone because of a spell?" I asked. "Yes and I never would have caught it if it wasn't starting to crack. Whoever placed it on you knew what they were doing," he told me. A growl ripped from from Raiza's chest and her eyes began to glow. "Raiza that will do nothing to help, calm down the girls had a tough enough day," he scolded. Raiza's growl ended and her eyes went back to normal. "Fine," she told him than turned to me. "You get to bed after you talk to your family alright. You have school tomorrow," she said. She pulled my in and gave me a quick hug before she stormed out of the room "I better go prepare the rest of the staff she'll be back later tonight covered in scratches from hunting some crazy wild animal," the healer muttered to me absentmindedly and left the room. I jumped down off the examine table and prepared myself to talk to my family.
"Night," aunt Laura said. She pulled me down and kissed the top of my head. We were outside the barracks and I just finished explaining to everyone what had happened back at the cabin and in the infirmary. I was shocked to see that Sadie and Andrea had both stayed to see if I was doing ok. We all walked back to the barracks together because everyone but Sav- Savannah and Aunt Laura stayed there. "Night and sorry I kinda ruined dinner," I told her. "Nonsense, everything you remember is a blessing, " she told me. I just nodded. The others said good night and everyone started to head inside, Aunt Laura turned to start walking back. "Savannah, start moving," Aunt Laura called looking back to see where he youngest daughter had gone. Savvy was standing behind me not moving as if thinking something over. "Mom," she said carefully as though still unsure of what she was saying. "What?" Aunt Laura asked cautiously. "Is it ok if I stay with Kye tonight?" Savvy asked. "You both have school tomorrow and you shouldn't force Kye either," Aunt Laura lectured. "But-" Savvy started. "No but's," Aunt Laura said. Instead of arguing like I expected her to Savvy sighed and started walking towards her mom. When she passed me I saw the look of disappointment on her face and I suddenly wanted to nothing more than to make her happy.
"Aunt Laura," I called. "Yes?" She said looking at me curiously. I sighed still unsure why I was doing this. "Why doesn't Savvy grab her stuff for school then come back?" I told her. Savvy turned to look at me shock written across her face which quickly turned into joy. "Can I?" She asked her mom. "Are you sure? You don't have to let her stay you both need sleep you can hang out after school tomorrow or something," Aunt Laura suggested. "I know but I think I would actually like it if someone was with me tonight," I told her. "Oh, alright she can stay but both of you had better go to bed by a decent hour understand?" She asked. "Promise," I told her.
"Move over," Savvy said. She crawled into my bed and pushed me over. She had run all the way back to her house to grab her things then rushed back. I had borrowed some spare blankets from Skye and had tossed them on the couch for her before I took a shower. when I came out she had been laying on my couch going through my phone. I snatched it away from her and told her to go to bed and laid down on my bed before promptly falling asleep. now she was waking me up and demanding I make room for her. She was lucky I let her stay at all. "What are you doing? Go back to the couch," I mumbled groggily. "No," she said simply and wrapped herself around me. "This bed is not that big," I said as I moved over trying to give her more room. "Sure it is," she told me. I didn't bother answering I just started to fall asleep against her warmth. "I've missed you, Kye," I think I heard her whisper right before I feel asleep.
