A/N: No I did not just randomly add a cup in the story. I've had this thing planned out since spring break last year. The cup has a meaning obvi.

Chapter Twenty Four/ Four

“A cup?” Emery asks as he examines my face. After dinner with the demons, I told Emery about the cup on my leg. I know that I shouldn’t trust Emery, but for some reason, I kind of do.

“Yes a cup.” I answer and nod. Emery looks puzzled for a moment.

“Let me see it.” He says. I reluctantly lift up the skirt of my dress so he could see the cuts. He looks at the drawing, assess it, and gasps.

“That’s not a cup.” He says with disbelief written on his face. I give him a dumb look; that is obviously a cup. He sees it and rolls his eyes.

“It’s the Goblet of Gabriel. I haven’t seen that thing in years.” He explains with shock laced in his voice. “It’s used to bring people like you to your full power.” Full power? This reminds me of what information I got at the library that time that fish lady told me that Satan was going to take my soul.

“How does it work?” I ask curiously. Emery doesn’t realize he is committing treason right now. A bad guy helping the good guy. Emery just goes on to explaining it.

“Well you need blood of at least two un-full powers and blood of a full power. You mix it and drink it out of the goblet. But that’s kind of hard when no one knows where the goblet is; not after some greedy full power hid it. But for the goblet to work at all, you need to have the other two objects of Gabriel. You know that ring I gave you? That’s one of the objects of Gabriel; it’s used to magnify your powers until you become a full power.

“The second object is a trinket—or what modern day society calls a bracelet. There are about ten rings and bracelets on earth. They’re supposed to be recycled to un-full powers after un-full powers became full powers, but full powers kept the objects thinking it would make them stronger, when in reality it only makes un-full powers stronger. Because of the lack of objects of Gabriel, a lot of chosen ones never got full power, so they became insane.” That explains why I felt immensely stronger after putting on the ring Emery gave me. That reminds me, I never gave Jesse his ring.

“So all I have to do is find a goblet, put some blood in it, drink it, and I’m done?” I ask. This sounds way too easy.

“Well you need the bracelet.” He says while looking at me stupidly. I push up the fluffy sleeve of my dress and present the bracelet my dad gave to me, to him.

“Is this it?” Emery looks up at me in shock. He grabs my wrist and examines the old leather. I can barely react when Emery clenches his fist and lunges at me. I shut my eyes and flinch, preparing for the impact that never came. I hear a crash and a groan come from somewhere in the room. I open my eyes to see Emery lying beneath a huge hole in the wall. He groans.

“Yep that’s it.” He mutters. He lifts himself up and assess the hole. “High power demons like me can’t get hurt in Hell, unless a Gabriel object is brought into the picture.” Emery explains, still trying to recover from the hit.

“Whoa! My dad was right when he said this thing would protect me.” I say looking at my wrist in new-found amazement.

“Your dad a full power?” Emery asks while stretching his limbs out. I lower my head and shake it in sadness.

“No, my dad became insane.” I whisper. Tears were coming on unexpectedly, I’ve barely cried about this before, so why is now a time to cry. It is too late for my dad. Emery puts his hand on my shoulder and I lift my head.

“Get over it.” He says with mocking sympathy. My eyes widen at his choice of words and tone. “It’s not going to help you any if you keep thinking about it. It’s too late for your dad, but it’s not too late for you.”

“Why are you helping me Emery—“

“My name is not Emery.” He corrects and I roll my eyes.

“Whatever Jemrikaja, why are you helping me? Aren’t you supposed to be like, eating my soul?” I ask. Emery laughs.

“Even though I’m the bad guy I’m still rooting for you. Father is really starting to annoy me with his soul taking crap. But if you become a full power, Father can’t take your soul. So it’s a win-win thing.” Emery answers with a smile. So the bad guy is on my side. For some reason, even though it’s crazy, I felt comfortable when he said that.

After passing out again in Hell, I wake up in the convent bedroom—still blind. But whether I could see or not isn’t going to stop me. I rush out of the bed and run to the door (only tripping twice). I open the door and yell, “JESSE! JESSE!” I keep yelling until I hear his voice.

“What Athena?! Are you okay? Are you hurt? What’s wrong?” He jumbles out of anxiety and fear. He’s next to me, touching my face and assessing it.

“I’m fine but I have to talk to you. Get Sister Beth.” I say in a hurry. Jesse doesn’t have time to react before I’m back in my room preparing for the talk I’m about to give. I sit on my bed and search my pockets until I feel a cool, round object. I pull it out and squeeze it in my hand. I’m giving this to Jesse as soon as he gets in here with Sister Beth.

I hear the door open and footsteps come into the room. “Jesse said that you needed me. What is it dear?” Sister Beth says with concern.

“I know the way not to go crazy!” I say with excitement. I get up and walk over to where I heard Sister Beth’s voice previously. “Jesse? Jesse where are you.” I ask putting my hands out in front of me. A hand grabs my elbow from behind.

“Here.” Jesse says pulling me closer to him. I turn around so I can face him. I grab his hand that is on my elbow and put the ring in it. “Put this on.” I instruct.

“You’re giving me jewelry?” He says with an unsure tone. I roll my eyes. “Just put it on.” I touch the ring that is on my ring-finger (obviously).

“Whoa.”

“I know.” I know he’s feeling the power flowing through him. He probably feels like he can do anything now, like I did when I ran away from those Hobbit looking creatures.

“What is this thing?” He asks in amazement.

“I’ll get to that soon. How about we sit first.” I suggest. We sit down on my bed and I take a deep breath and begin explaining. I talk about the Gabriel objects and what they are used for. I talk about the full powers and the un-full powers. I spend an hour just explaining all that.

“How do you know all this?” Sister Beth asks after my explanation. This is the part of the talk that I dread. How am I going to explain that I go to Hell every time I sleep (with the exception of going to the mental institute)?

“Um…Emery told me…” I trail off. I can practically hear Jesse’s rage in room from the mentioning of the demons name.

“What do you mean, Emery told you?” His voice is laced with fury. I grab Jesse’s hand to try to calm him down. When it works Jesse grips my hand tighter.

“It’s a long story that I’d rather not go into right now.” I say tiredly. Talking can really exhaust you.

“So you said something about a goblet….I might know a Sister who knows the place of this goblet.” Sister Beth ponders, more like talking to herself than to us. Excitement bubbles up in me; well finding this magical cup is really easy.

“Who?!” I ask eagerly.

“Come with me.” Sister Beth commands. Jesse helps me off the bed and leads me out the room with Sister Beth.

“You talked about a trinket of the Gabriel objects…” Jesse trails off. I nod my head and hold out the wrist that had the bracelet. “This is what it looks like.” I say.

“I found a bracelet like that when I was going through boxes in my attic. I never wore it but I always kept it with me because I felt like it was important. I even have it with me now.” Jesse moves a little, I guess to get something out of his pocket since I feel him move his hand. This is way easier than I originally thought. Who knew that we would both have two of the objects of Gabriel and know where the third one is?

“Wear it, it’ll keep you safe. Trust me, Emery tried to punch me but he ended up crashing into a wall. It was kind of funny.” I say with a laugh, but my amusement of the memory is not shared with Jesse. I feel him shake with anger.

“Emery tried to punch you?” He says deathly calm. What is with this sudden act of possessiveness from Jesse? But I would be lying if I said I didn’t like it that Jesse cares enough to be protective.

“Calm down Jesse, he was only doing it for my purposes.” Technically he was doing it for my purposes.

“But that doesn’t mean that he had to punch you!” Jesse interjects. Well he has a point.

“That’s why we have the objects of Gabriel.” I explain with lightness while I poke his shoulder. I can hear his eyes roll. He laughs once.

“Sister Diana!” Sister Beth calls.

“Yes sister?” An elderly voice says from behind me. I could guess that Sister Beth and Sister Dianna are about the same age. We all turn around and look at Sister Diana, well I can’t really look at her but I’m in that general direction.

“Didn’t you say that your grandfather had a goblet that he gave to you before he passed on?” Sister Beth asks.

“Yes sister.”

“Can we see it?”

“Yes sister.” I hear sister Diana leave and after a few minutes she comes back.

“This is it.” She says. My head starts to pound. My legs get weak. I would have had fallen down if Jesse wasn’t there supporting me. My head pounds harder and my breath quickens. I know this feeling. Depression fills my body like fire. I can’t move.

“You feel it too?” Jesse asks with a strained voice. All I could muster up is a short nod. I try to breathe but I can’t intake the air that I desperately need. Jesse is doing no better than me. I hear his breath quicken also. He grips tighter on me.

Tears start to fall when Sister Beth commands Sister Diana to put the goblet away. Sister Diana agrees and leaves the room. I can finally breathe again when the goblet is out of sight. I gain feeling back into my body. Jesse’s breathing goes back to normal also, but he doesn’t loosen his grip on me.

“What just happened?” Sister Beth asks with worry. I guess no one gave Sister Beth the memo of the depression.

“I don’t know.” Jesse responds, out of breath. I nod in agreement with Jesse’s answer. That is the most logical answer that I could think of.

“I think that’s it.” I say. I wipe the sweat that formed on the side of my face and sit down on the floor. Now I am extremely tired.

“How are we supposed to know what it look like?” Sister Beth asks. I roll up the leg of the sweat pants that one of the nuns lent me. Who knew nuns wore sweat pants?

“It would look something like this.” I say pointing at my thigh. I hope that the cuts were still there, which they should be if I still had the ring that Emery gave me.

“Athena! What the hell happen to your thigh!?” Jesse yells.

“Language!” Sister Beth scolds. Jesse’s warm hands touch my thigh gently. I try to hide my flinch but fail miserably. It still hurts like crap. Jesse removes his hand fast, as if he is the cause for these cuts.

“It doesn’t matter now. Just answer the question, did it look like this?” I ask.

“Yes, it look exactly like that.” Sister Beth answers my question with confusion and amazement. Jesse stays quiet.

“Then that’s the goblet.” I say. I get up from my spot on the floor and roll my pants back down. “Can I go to bed now?” I ask with a yawn. Even though I woke up like two hours ago, I am still really tired.

“Sure sweety, Jesse will walk you.” Sister Beth says with sympathy. I feel her arms rub my shoulders. “I’m going to talk to Sister Diana.” Jesse puts his arm around me and guides me out of the room. Jesse and I walk together in awkward silence; it is so awkward I can’t even stand it.

“Jesse are you okay?” I ask unsurely. I can’t see his expression, so I can’t even guess what’s going on in his head.

“No I’m not okay! I’m scared for you!” He raises his voice. His hold on me tightens. “I feel like you’re being ripped away from me! You’re always in danger, always keeping to yourself, and now you’re hurting yourself! Just tell me what’s going on! I need to know that you’re okay.” He stops walking and grabs my arm so I’m facing his way.

“I need to know that I’m not going to lose you!” He’s almost at the point of yelling while I’m standing here like a potato. Where did all this come from?

“Jesse, the reason that my thigh is like that is because I needed to draw.” I say like it is the simplest thing in the world to understand.

“You needed to draw so bad that you had to cut your thigh multiple times? What ever happened to pen and paper?” Jesse asks with rage. This is starting to annoy me. Why is he overreacting so much?

“I didn’t have accesses to pen and paper at that moment, Jesse! I had to draw right then and I couldn’t stop it!” I start to raise my voice, at which I hope, is him. It would look really stupid if I’m yelling at a wall.

“That still doesn’t explain why you’re talking with Emery. Are seeing him secretly or something? How did he tell you the information you told me?” He accuses. I roll my eyes. That is a long story for another time.

“That doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I told you the way to have full power! Don’t you realize how amazing this is!? We’re not going to go crazy!”

“I’d rather go crazy than to have you fooling around with a demon for information that isn’t even reliable!” Jesse is full on yelling now. I’ve had enough of this.

“Just leave me alone Jesse.” I mutter. It hurt to know that Jesse thinks I’m ‘fooling around’ with Emery. I turn around and walk to what I hope is the right way to my room. But Jesse stops me before I even take two steps. He turns me around and forces me against the wall. His lips are on mine before I have a chance to react. He kisses me forcefully and possessively. I finally get out of my temporary shock. I kiss him back with force that I didn’t know I had. I weave my fingers in his hair and pull gently.

This is new. I never kissed like this before, even though I’ve only been kissed twice by Jesse and one of those times I fell asleep in the act.

Jesse groans and pulls back. “Not in the nunnery.” He says out of breath like he just ran a ten mile marathon. I nod my head, also out of breath. Even though I can’t see Jesse, I know that he has a smile on his face. And I know my face matches his.

“I’m only like this because I care about you so much.” He whispers. “I just don’t want to lose you.”

A/N: Aw! How sweet and awkward! So today has not been a good day. I just found out that a good friend of mine died in a car crash, all because the driver and her were drunk and she didn't have her seat belt on. She was only 17 and had her whole life a head of her. Learn from my friend's mistakes and don't die from recklessness and foolishness. Even if you are drunk and you know that your going to be in a lot of trouble if you call you parents to pick you up, don't let anyone drive you who is under the influence. Would you rather your parents be angry or rather you be dead?

But on a happy note I made two new stories, Masquerade(Watty Awards 2013!!!!!) and Just Cry (completed) go check it out if you dare! Remeber kids, make smart choices and good thing will come. I know this is a filler chapter but trust me, the next chapter shit is going to hit the fan. Hard.

BYEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
