EDITEDDDDDDDDD!
Chapter Nine
I hid out in the corner of the bleachers throughout the whole practice. I didnât want anyone to see me. The cheerleaders had their practice while the football team had theirs. So I was at great risk for being seen.
Practice was dismissed and I was now waiting for Jesse to get out of the boyâs locker room.
âHey.â I scream for the second time today. I turn around to see Jesse smiling at me. His hair was wet from the shower he just took.
âJesse, what did I tell you about scaring me like that?â I yell at him.
âSorry, are you ready?â He asks. I nod my head. âAre we just going to take one car?â I ask.
âYeah sure, lets save the environment!â He says. âCan we take my car, Iâm scared that when people see it, theyâll break in and take all my crap.â
He smiles. âYeah, sure.â We walk over to my car and get in.

We arrived at the library. It was a pretty big library, five floors of books and computers. I used to come here a lot when I was a kid. After watching the movie Matilda when I was nine I wanted to be just like her. So I would come to the library every day and read a new book. It was fun getting lost in a world that was not yours. It would make me forget seeing ghost and having nightmares.
I stop coming after I had my breakdown that everyone in school witness.
âSo Iâll hit the information section and you can go by the computers.â I tell Jesse. I like hitting the books more the internet. He nods and walks up to the third floor. The informational books were on the fifth floor. So I take the stairs and not the elevator. Elevators are creepy and I would rather walk up five flights of stairs then ride in a creepy elevator.
I walk up the last few steps and search the room. The only people here were the librarian behind the checkout/help counter and there were a few people reading books.
I walk to the back of the book shelves near the window and search back there. Angels. Demons. Vampires. Werewolves. Ghost. Here we go. Surprisingly there was a big section of ghost and other stuff in that nature. I look over the books that had to do with ghost. I grabbed Spiritual Beings And More, Ghost Uncovered, History of ghost, Ghost Siting in Alabama, and for the heck of it I got Exorcism: Do They Work? Satisfied with what I got I headed over to a nearby table and sat down.
I get out my notebook from my book bag and get a pencil. I open up History of Ghost to the table of contents. I scan through it until I see Why stay on earth?
In the bible of many religions, it has been said that when I person dies, only their body dies and their soul carries on to an afterlife. This is where the âso called mythâ is taken place. It has been said that a distressed soul stays on earth until at rest. Which is the cause of haunting and possession.
I write down this information on my notebook and get Spiritual Beings And More. I just turn to a random page Why do people see ghost? Was the first thing I saw. I would like to know too.
Ghosts have roamed around this world ever since death itself happened. Not everyone sees ghost or spiritual beings, but there are a selected few out there who have âThe Sightâ. These people are known as the âChosen Onesâ. They are claimed to have violet eyes and a birthmark just below their shoulder blade. This mark is called âThe Mark Of The Angelsâ. These chosen ones were warriors, mentally but not physically. They have the power to but souls at rest and essentially send demons back to Hellâforever.
The sight tends to kick in around puberty. The sight is also a genetic gene, mostly common in males. If the sight has not been unleashed parse or used properly then the gift would lead to madness and insanity. This is also mostly common.
Unforchantly in the medieval times most of The Chosen Ones were killed. They were claimed to be witches and were burned to death.
Creepy. At least I know what I am now. I eagerly write this information down. I canât wait to tell Jesse.
âExcuse me; can you help me with something?â A voice from above me asks. I look up and met eyes with an elderly lady. She smiles at me.
âUmâ¦Sure. I donât know if I would be much help. You could ask one of the librarians for more accurate help.â I say
âThere was no one at the desk when I checked.â The elderly lady says with a trouble look on her face.
âOh, okay. So what do you need help with?â
âI was looking for books about fish.â She tells me. Not every day an old lady wants to read a book about fish.
âSure, I think I know where they are.â I got up from my seat and went down a few random aisles with the lady following behind me. When finally reach the fish section.
âWell here you go.â I say pointing to the fish books.
âThank you so much dear,â She smiles sweetly at me, then turns to the books and then turns back to me. âYou know itâs such a shame, you are such a pretty girl.â She says tenderly. I look at her in confusion.
âExcuse me.â I ask.
âOh Honey, itâs only a matter of time before he takes your soul,â She reaches her hand out and touches my arm. Her hands were cold and lifeless, like the deadsâ. âBut itâs okay though, you didnât have a chance at fighting anyway.â I push her hand away as she continues on. âYouâre just going to burn in Hell like the rest of them.â She finishes with smile on her lips.
âWhat?â I ask as I step back a little. Granny has got me scared.
âYour soul, its pure white and he likes that. You have the smell of virgin all over you. But it attracts too many of them, you are attracting the wrong kind of attention. Heâs going to need to taint your soul in order for them to back off.â I take another step back. Her smile grows wider and she shows her crooked, jagged teeth. Her eyes turn black.
I turn around and run as I hear he laughter behind me. âThis was just a warning my dear.â She says. I run to my table and grab my notebook and my book bag. I run straight down the stairs until I reach the third floor. I spot Jesse immediately and run to him.
âJesse we need to go now.â I kind of yell. The few people nearby look at us with annoyed glances.
âWhat? Why?â He asks.
âIâll tell you when we get out.â I grab his arm and pull him down the stairs. âCome on Jesse, cooperate. I canât pull you down flights of stairs!â I tell him. I let go of his arm and run down the stairs. He follows all the way down the stairs and out of the library.
âAthena tell me whatâs wrong!â He raises his voice. I get in my car frantically. He gets in the passenger side.
âSomeone old lady told me that someone was going to take my soul.â I start the car and pull out of the parking lot.
âWhat?â He asks.
âExactly, so shut up and Iâll explain when we get to my house.â I told him firmly. He rolls his eyes and doesnât talk. Good.
***
I pull in the driveway and get out of my car.
âCome on Jesse. Youâre too slow!â He slowly gets out of the car. I run over to him and grab is arm for the second time today and pull him to the front door.
âFor a girl you are really strong.â He said. I punch him in the arm. âOuch!â
âDonât insult my sex, blondie!â I open the door and Jesse follows me in the house.
âJesse?â Someone from behind asks. I turn to Miles looking at Jesse in confusion.
âHi Miles!â Jesse says and smiles. What a weirdo.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âAthena invited me over.â Miles looks at me in confusion and disgust. âWhy?â He asks and Jesse shrugs.
âMiles why arenât you at practice and whereâs mom?â I ask. I didnât want him to over here while Jesse was.
âThey canceled practice and mom went to the grocery store.â He answers rudely. Jerk.
âOkay whatever. Letâs go to my room.â I tell Jesse. I pull Jesse by the arm up the stairs. âAgain Jesse, youâre going to have to help me out here. I canât pull you up the stairs.â He rolls his eyes and climbs the stairs.
âHow many floors are there in this house?â Jesse asks.
âTheyâre four floors and it has a basement and an attic.â I told him. The house was pretty big.
âNot too bad.â He responds back. I walk into my room and I notice that Jesse stopped before going through the door. âWhat?â
âBefore I go through this door, will there be anything in here that will scar me for life?â He asks seriously. I roll my eyes and jump on my bed. He sits down next to me on my bed.
âThereâs no dead bodies, so I guess that a good thing.â He said. I get up from my bed and hit him again.
âOw! Can you please stop hitting me?â He says while grabbing his arm in fake pain.
âI donât harbor dead bodies!â I yell.
âCan you now explain why you rushed me out of the library?â I sigh. I tell him about the lady looking for a fish book and how she went crazy grandma from Hell on me.
âCreepy.â Was all Jesse says. Yeah, no way.
âSo what info did you get?â Jesse opens his book bag and hands me some notebook paper with writing on it.
âI highlighted everything that I thought was important.â Jesse says. He looks proud of himself.
âWhy is everything highlighted?â I ask and look down at the yellow sheets of paper. He shrugs, âI thought everything was important.â I roll my eyes. He is not the smartest person I ever met.
âYou write like a girl.â I told while laughing. He glares at me. âWhatever, what information did you get?â He asks rudely. I pull out my notebook and shove in his hands.
âI figured out what we are!â I say proudly. He reads over it and looks at me in shock.
âThis is awesome! The information I found was better though.â He said. âYeah sure, I would read it but itâs too bright to read. Maybe if you didnât highlight everything I can decipher it.â I tell him. It was true, I couldnât read a word.
He rolls his eyes. âIt basically says that when a âChosen Childâ is born, nine out of ten times, a demon picks that child and basically stalks them until they get what they want.â He says.
âWhat does the demon want?â I ask. He was right, this was good information.
âTheir soul,â He says seriously. Crazy grandma told me it was only a matter of time before he had my soul. Is this what she was talking about? âFemale âChosen Onesâ are rare so demons pick them the most because itâs not only the soul they crave; itâs also the body they want. It has been known that demons would rape these childrenâboy or girl.â I shiver. That was some creepy stuff. Children being raped then killed getting their soul taken away from them.
âSo that means thatââI start.
ââwe have a demon stalking us.â He finishes.
âOh god.â I say, that was so creepy. So there actually was a demon stalking us.
âThe information I got says that we have the ability to send demons back to Hell.â I tell him. âBut we first need to learn to âembraceâ are powers first because if we donât then it could lead to insanity.â It all makes sense now.
âMy dad.â I whisper. It all clicks now.
âWhat about your dad?â He asks.
âMy dad lives in a mental institute because he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The âChosen Oneâ gene is genetic, so that means that the reason my dad is legally insane is because he was a âChosenâ, he just didnât embrace his power.â I tell him eagerly. âJesse, we are going to have to make a trip to see my dad.â He nods and smiles. We were finally getting closer to fighting this cruse!
âHigh-five!â He yells. I smack his hand. I was so happy.
âIâll be back.â I tell him and left my room.
I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. I canât believe that we are getting closer. I also canât believe Iâm starting to trust Jesse. I have never trusted someone fully in my life besides Kyle and my dad. Iâve known Jesse for like three days and I almost trust him. I donât whatâs got into me.
I walk back up to my room. I open the door and see that Jesse is staring at my bulletin board. I walk up next to him; he was staring at it intently.
âWhat?â I ask him. I was confused why he was looking at it weirdly. He turns to face me.
âDid you draw that?â He asks. He points to something on my board. I look at my board and see a drawing.
It was the drawing of the demon I drew Monday. The big, bold, black letters that read âYOU CANâT GET RID OF ME THAT EASILYâ seemed to get bigger and bolder. I look down at my desk drawer that I put the picture away in. The drawer was ripped open and the black X was torn off. There was a piece of paper at the bottom of drawer. I bend down and pick it up. I read it and my eyes widen.
âJesseâ¦â I whisper and show him the paper. He took it and whispered âItâs only a matter of time before I have what I want.â As it read on the paper.
