In front of everyone, Dacia strode toward me. Without a word, he pulled me into his arms and kissed me.
Only I knew why he did it. It had to be because heâd been dehydrated for too long.
But no one else knew. They would just think of Dacia as a crazy boyfriend.
For a moment, we were surrounded by screams and whistles.
Dacia sucked hard on my saliva and before long, he injured the other side of my mouth.
But the wound from before had just healed. I suspected that he did it on purpose!
I thought, to Dacia, my blood was as addictive as marijuana.
After sucking out a lot of blood, Dacia finally released me.
His dark blue pupils were more spirited and his condition was much better than before.
âDoes it hurt?â he asked worriedly.
I nodded and my voice was hoarse. âA little. Letâs go get a bottle of water to drink.â
âI brought it,â Dacia said as he took a bottle of water from the wide pocket of his jacket.
I didnât expect him to be so considerate. I finally felt better.
âAnnie, arenât you going to introduce us?â My colleagues walked over and looked at Dacia with smiles on their faces.
âOh, this is my boyfriend, Dacia,â I quickly introduced.
Dacia gave them a friendly smile. âHello.â
My colleagues were all smitten.
âIs your hair dyed? Your golden hair is so beautiful!â
âWhy are you so tall? You maintained your figure very well.â
âCan you tell us how you and Annie met? Or do you have any brothers or friends who look like you?â
The group of women chattered, making Dacia feel extremely awkward.
When I finally got rid of them, Dacia said wistfully, âYour colleagues are too enthusiastic.â
âThatâs not called enthusiastic. Itâs called scary,â I reply gloomily.
While we were waiting for the bus, a female colleague named Emma drove over.
She rolled down the window and asked, âHey, Annie, do you want me to give you a ride?â
âNo need,â I said. âMy house is a little far. We can take the bus.â
âItâs not troublesome. Come on up. Maybe itâs the same way?â Emma clearly didnât want to let me go.
I should have continued to say no, but rejection was really not my strong suit. I had no choice but to take Dacia into her car.
The car smelled of pungent perfume. I frowned slightly and I saw that Dacia had the same reaction.
âSorry, is there a cigarette smell in the car? I love smoking.â Emma looked at us in the rearview mirror.
âItâs okay. Itâs okay.â
âIâm sorry about Mandy,â Emma said.
I smiled helplessly. I was tired of hearing those words today.
âWhere are you guys going?â Emma asked again.
I gave her my home address. Emma made a shocked expression. âReally? I used to live there too!â
âWhat a coincidence,â I responded.
âThatâs right. In the past, my father failed in his business and rented a small apartment over there. Can you imagine the feeling of our family of four being squeezed there? It was very awful!â
Her expression was one of disdain at the mention of the residences near mine.
Wasnât she mocking me?
I glanced over my shoulder at Dacia and saw that he had been looking out the window the entire time. He hadnât even heard Emma speak.
Even if he did, he might not think Emma was mocking me.
Seeing that I didnât say anything, Emma continued, âI know the place where Mandy lives. Itâs very unsafe. Iâm really not surprised that something happened to her.â
Hearing this, I finally couldnât hold it in anymore. âMandyâs gone. Please donât say that.â
âHuh? Did I say something wrong? Iâm sorry,â she quickly replied.
Even so, I couldnât forgive her.
Her high and mighty attitude was really too detestable!
âWhy isnât Mr. Dacia saying anything?â Emma decided to change the subject.
âIâm listening to you guys,â Dacia said calmly.
âYou havenât told me how you met Annie.â Emma looked interested.
I couldnât help but look at Dacia while wondering what he would say.
Was he going to tell anyone that he was a mermaid?
âI fell into the sea by accident while traveling. Annie saved me.â
âReally? Annie is so awesome!â Emma exclaimed. âAnd then? You two fell in love, right?â
âYes, I fell in love with Annie at first sight,â Dacia said as he hugged me again.
I smiled. I could feel Emmaâs jealousy toward me.
âSo what does Mr. Dacia do? Heâs not really a model, is he?â Emma changed the topic to work.
âIâm a writer,â Dacia replied.
Emma froze. And I reacted the same way she did.
Dacia had previously said that he wanted to write a novel, but he had not thought of how to write it. Now, wouldnât it be too early to introduce himself as a writer?
âHuh? What a coincidence. My cousin is a writer too and often published works on the Cuckoo Bird Literature Website. Which platform are you releasing them on?â Emma asked very carefully, as if she didnât believe Dacia.
âBole Literature Website.â
Daciaâs answer was surprising. Bole was the most prestigious literary website in the country. Those who dared to publish their work there were very famous writers..
