Chapter 19: Hunting Humans

Monster High: A New Start (Male Reader)Words: 10274

You scrolled through your phone, looking through the reactions of the interviews. While some were normies and monsters supporting the documentary, most were testing it to shreds. Most of the comments were talking about how monster and humans must always be separated and how this was a direct attack on each other.

What was made to bring the two together, only served to rip them apart further. You mentally cursed yourself over and over again. This was all your fault. If you didn’t make the video in the first place, things would be fine. You wouldn't be hiding out in the shed waiting for Cleo or Deuce to tell you what was happening.

They had insisted you go with them, but you had refused. No normie should go to their secret council meeting. Especially one that had caused such damage.

You changed tabs and checked your messages. Still nothing. You had no idea if that was a good thing or not. Clearly something was wrong, but just how bad was it? You gritted your teeth before the shed door opened. You looked up, only for your eyes to grow wide when you saw none other than Lilith standing there with a grin.

You were quickly on your feet.

Y/N: What are you doing here?

Lilith drug a finger along your desk where you had some figurines lined up. She smirked as she flicked over the vampire one.

Lilith: So cold. I thought you would've loved to see an old friend.

She yelped when a box flew past her head, crashing into the wall behind her.

Y/N: Get away from me, and stay away from my friends!

Lilith placed a hand on her chest, a look of shock on her face.

Lilith: Vanny Poo, why are you acting like this?

You gagged at the stupid nickname she had given you. It barely even made sense. Your name was Y/N Van Helsing. The Vanny came from the Van. Poo came from Poo Bear, as in Winnie the Poo Bear. You.....really hated her.

Y/N: Don't call me that. And don't act like we're friends. Especially after what you did to my actual friends.

Lilith drooped her hand with a groan. She rolled her eyes before she crossed her arms, taking a look around the shed. It was still a bit of a mess from the craziness from earlier. You even still had a bit of eyeliner and the anubis eye design on your right eye.

Lilith took in your whole appearance. Your black hoodie with the Jean vest over it with your patches. The torn dark washed jeans and dirty converse. Even the beanie you wore that used to hide your human identity. Your painted nails and your earring.

You weren't the same boy she knew from before. You looked vastly different and now you were so hostile. This was worse than she thought.

Lilith: They really have a hold on you, don't they.

Y/N: What are you talking about?

???: She's talking about the monsters' hold on you.

You flinched as the barn door opened on the side, revealing more people standing there. But these weren't just random people you saw. These were the kind of people you didn't mess with.

Monster Hunters. The best of the best. Those that could stand toe to toe with your uncle.

Larry Chaney Jr.

Bram Lugosi.

Colin Karloff.

Imhotep Byron.

Jack Rains.

Mary Lanchester

Claude Claudin.

Ricou Chapman.

You took a step back as the hunters entered the shed and surrounded you. They all stared at you, almost as if they were examining you.

Chaney: Y/N, how have you been?

Lugosi: We've heard that you have, how do we say, active in the Monster community. And not for the right reasons.

You narrowed your eyes. You quickly took note of the weapons they each had. You would absolutely lose in a head on fight with them. They had the skill and experience to take you down without breaking a sweat.

Still, you can't just stand here and go along with whatever they say.

Y/N: What do you mean?

Lanchester: Going to a monster based school, action against a monster without contract, living with the Dracula family. What is your uncle thinking?

Larry Chaney Jr. started towards you, but you took a step back.

Y/N: What are you all doing here? It better be a good reason if you're trespassing on Dracula's property.

Chaney: That's part of the problem. Lilith here has informed us that you may be under monster influence. After seeing the film you made, we're inclined to agree. So, we're here to take you into holding until your uncle returns.

You raised a brow.

Y/N: Yeah, that's not going to happen. In case you forgot, I'm not a registered as a member of the committee. And none of you are my legal adults. There's no chance that I'm going with you willingly, so this would quickly become kidnapping.

You crossed your arms and looked at the hunters in front of you. They all stared at you blankly.

Chaney: Looks like she's right. Grab him.

Claudin and Chapman both moved towards you, making you reach for your belt. You pulled it off and whipped it which caused it to form into a sword. You held it in front of you for defense, but you suddenly found a large shadow being casted over you.

Your eyes went wide when you looked up at the hulking figure of Chapman. You gulped as he swung his hammer. You blocked it with your sword, but the force of the blow sent you flying backwards and through the wall.

You ended up hitting the ground and started to roll before you caught yourself by digging your sword into the dirt. You quickly got back up before Claudin appeared behind you. You didn't have any time to react before he slammed the bottom of his knife into your shoulder, killing it. He then delivered a kick your your chest.

You fell backwards as the other hunters exited the shed. They all now held their weapons, but you weren't about to give up so easily. You jolted your arm back alive with a quick shock from your belt blade.

You dropped the rod from your sleeve and activated your ax as well.

Lanchester: Please don't make this harder than it needs to be, Y/N. We don't want hurt you.

Byron: But we will if we have to.

You lifted your weapons and got ready for a fight. Chaney sighed before he snapped his fingers. Everyone but him and Lanchester rushed forward while Lilith watched from the shed. She crossed her arms with a smirk.

You ducked under a charka before flipping backwards to avoid a crossbow bolt. It was probably laced with some kind of paralyzing poison or a sleeping potion. One hit and you'll be done for.

Rains: Look at what these monsters did to you, Helsing. Turning you against your own.

You blocked an attack and pushed him back.

Y/N: You attacked me first!

You jumped back to avoid being lashed with a chain before rolling to avoid another hammer attack. You swung your ax, but Karloff ducked, making it cut into a tree. Stuck, you were forced to let go and dashed to the left to avoid a hammer strike that destroyed the tree.

Rains loaded his crossbows again, this time with fire tip arrows. You saw this and reacted by shooting one of your smaller bolts his way. It hit one of the crossbows which sent the firetip bolt to fly off and land behind Rains, igniting it and causing a fire on a nearby tree. With no time to put it out, you watched as it quickly spread to the bushes, lighting the lawn in an orange glow.

You looked up with gritted teeth. Chaney looked to Lanchester and nodded. Lanchester simply nodded and stepped forward, pulling her whip from her belt.

When you lifted your arm, she caught it with her whip, holding your wrist in place. Then Karloff trapped your other wrist with his chain. Chapman then took your blade away while Lugosi pulled your ax free. Chaney and Lilith approached you while you struggled to get free.

Chaney: My boy, you have truly disappointed us. I can't believe your uncle allowed you to fall this far.

Y/N: Whatever stupid idea you have, get it out of that old, wrinklely head of yours, Larry. I'm not under anyone's control. And this is SO KIDNAPPING! Let me go!

Rains fired a firetip bolt at the shed, igniting the wall in a ball of fire. Your eyes grew wide and you cried out as you watched the fire spread inside. You VHS tapes, the figures of your uncle's, the posters, the pictures.

Chaney: I'm afraid that's not possible. You will be coming with us until we can get in touch with your uncle. In the meantime....

You were suddenly stuck with something in the neck. You gasped and immediately found your body growing numb. Your hands and feet were first, then your arms and legs, then your torso and neck. Your eyelids felt heavy and you fought against them, your vision was getting darker.

You soon found yourself growing limp before Chaney lifted your head to look at him.

Chaney: We'll fix you right up.

He pulled away and Lilith creased your cheek.

Lilith: Don't worry, Vanny Poo. You'll be back to normal in no time.

Voices became distorted as Lilith leaned in and kissed you. You couldn't even fight back. You were now limp, and unconscious. Lilith patted your cheek before letting your head drop. Chapman lifted you up and threw you over his shoulder and the group was off. As they carried you away, you found yourself dreaming of your friends. Of how you failed them.

Maybe you deserved this after all. Maybe....you didn't belong at Monster High after all.

-------------------

Everyone raced to the Dracula household against their parents' wishes. Dracula was must faster, and your friends arrived to find him on his knees, watching the fire engulf the shed completely as well as the garden that he had made for his daughter.

In his hand he held a crossbow bolt, the Monster Hunter Committe logo engraved in the wood.

Deuce: Y/N? Y/N?! Where is he?!

Lagoona: Oh my Ghoul. What happened here?

Frankie: Was...was this an attack?

Dracula slowly approached her father, reaching out towards him. She flinched when he suddenly stood up, looking at the bolt.

Dracula: I'm sorry, Pinhead. I failed at keeping him safe.

He then crushed the bolt in his hand, his eyes glowing a deep red while he bared his fangs.

Dracula: But I swear, I'll get him back. And then, I'll be sure to make those responsible pay in blood.

Draculaura: Dad?

Dracula reached into his coat and pulled out an emergency phone. One that only had one number on it. He dialed it, and waited for someone to answer. When someone did, he spoke.

Dracula: Helsing, they have Y/N. I'm going to Lovecraft Manor to get him back.

Everyone watched his silhouette against the raging fires. They had no idea what was next.
