Chapter 37: Boo Bros

Monster High: A New Start (Male Reader)Words: 10576

You let out a grunt as you pushed yourself up. You then went back down and did it again. Deuce watched you from the beanbag while Bootube played on the TV screen. You had been doing handstand push-ups on the bunk bed ladder. You had been pretty much doing stuff like this since you got back.

Being a vampire....thing....was weird. But it was also fun. Yesterday Clawdeen found you laps around the track for like two hours straight. You were taking well to all of this. Everyone was surpised.

Things mostly went back to normal after you all returned. Class resume, you gained a few new students, you were a Vampire Lord, and Elissabat was now the Queen of Vampires and was taking a break from her movie career.

Okay, so some things had changed.

You hopped down and grabbed your bottle of water, taking a drink.

Deuce: So, do you have to drink blood now?

You stopped and looked at him. You lowered your bottle and thought about it.

Y/N: Well.......

Dracula: Heed my words, Y/N. You may now be undead, but unless you drink blood you will remain at the same state of strength and skill as a human. You are now a Lord, meaning you have a bigger target on your back. Be careful.

You slow blinked before shaking your head and looking back to Deuce.

Y/N: I don't think so. But, on the plus side, I do get to age slower.

Deuce watched you before folding his hands with his index fingers on his lips. He then pointed to you.

Deuce: Explain..

Y/N: Well, for Vampires, every 100 years is like 1 year for humans. But since I'm not a full vampire, I age every 50 years. PARTIAL IMMORTALITY!

Deuce hopped up and began to celebrate with you. Your cheers were quickly silenced when Dorm Father Mr. D'eath knocked on your door. You knew it was him cause heard his telltale sigh.

Mr. D'eath: Please be considerate of other students.

Y/N/Deuce: Sorry.

You both calmed down and looked at the time. It was pretty late.

Deuce: Oh yeah, are you coming with me to Heath's trip?

You looked at him confused.

Y/N: Uh....who's Heath?

Y/N: OH! Heath Burns. Yeah, I remember you now.

Heath: What?

You were with Deuce and Heath waiting for a few other guys for a sort of "guy's trip". You had come to the realization that you had more female friends here than guy friends. You were hoping this trip would change that.

Yep. That's what you were doing now. Embracing change.

Y/N: So, who else is coming?

Heath: Well, DJ and Clawd said they were, but I think Gil might be too.

Gil. Gil. Uh, wasn't that Lagoona's ex? The one she broke up with before kissing you?

Y/N: Awesome.....

Deuce was also in the nervous boat. He knew the situation cause you told him and he didn't want to be picking between bros. Though, he would absolutely back you up. Like, there was no doubt. But he didn't want to be picking sides.

Before either of you could discuss it, a car drove up and stopped in front of the three of you. The window rolled down to reveal DJ and Clawd smirking.

DJ: What's good, nerds? You guys ready to PARRRRTY?!

The back window then rolled down and Gil stuck his head out.

Gil: Please get in. I can't handle them anymore.

----------

The front doors slid open and DJ ran in and began to look around. He let out a cheer before rushing off while the rest of you walked in like normal people. Or, uh, monsters. You still weren't used to this monster thing, if you even were a monster. Like yeah, you aged slower, but without drinking blood you were pretty much just the way you were before.

But that's not what this chapter is about. This is about a bro trip. Said bro trip brought you to a place called Undead Island. It wasn't actually an island but you were pretty amazed to find that it was pretty much a massive arcade.

The many games played various noises while the sounds of the go-karts grabbed your attention. The track looked like it was meant to stimulate a kind if jungle adventure complete with a waterfall. There was also a kind of snack bar for food and drinks, a bowling alley, a laser tag place, and even a mini golf course. Looked like a lot of fun.

Clawd: Alright. Do you have the stuff?

Heath reached into his pockets and pulled out 6 coupons. He handed one to everyone save for DJ who was already running around. You got yours and checked it out to see that it was good for one free unlimited play wristband.

Y/N: How did you get these?

Heath: Last time I was here a machine broke down and kinda.....

The fire department and EMTs worked to get Heath free from the claw machine while many looked on.

Heath: Yeah.

Made sense. You hated when that happened.

Deuce: Well, now that we're here, let's get started.

------------

You and DJ stood on a dancing arcade game which displayed a list of songs to dance to. Everyone else pretty much scattered leaving you as the only one to go against him. You weren't really one to dance, though.

DJ: Hm. You know, I think I'll let you pick.

You looked at him confused.

Y/N: Why?

DJ: You need the edge if you're gonna have a chance to beat me.

You stared at him for a moment as the world slowly became silent. A low humming echoed in your ears as your right eye twitched. You then scrolled through the list and selected a song without even looking. You watched as DJ's face turned from cocky to confused as the music began.

Y/N: You're going down.

You and DJ began to follow the moves on the screen with such accuracy that every note was under "perfect". As the song continued the monsters around started to take notice. It didn't take long until a small crowd had gathered to watch.

DJ found himself actually very surpised that you were not only keeping up, but you seemed to not even be breaking a sweat. You were doing it all flawlessly. He was so surpised that he had actually ended up going from "perfect" to "good".

By the time the song was reaching it's end, the crowd was cheering for you while DJ found himself unable to keep up. Once it ended, you struck a pose and the crowd applauded. DJ let out a breath. Did you put it on hard? How? When? Why?

You then turned to him with narrowed eyes.

DJ: How?

Y/N: I was raised to slay monsters. Never forget that.

You snapped your finger and strutted off like the champion you were.

---------------

Clawd: I dunno. I feel like we can go far this year.

Heath hit his ball which rolled to the other end of the green and closer to the hole. You had all decided to try some mini golf and you were pretty sure no one was even keeping count of the score. You definitely weren't.

Deuce: I think we can, but you can't deny that we need a new lineup.

Y/N: What are you guys even talking about?

Gil: Casketball. Our team were runnerups last year, but now we need to step up our game.

Casketball? You couldn't say you were really a fan, but you did like watching it every now and then when Deuce had it on. You definitely couldn't name a player or a team, but you did seem jerseys and such being worn around Monster High.

Deuce suddenly had an idea and pointed at you.

Deuce: Dude, you should join the team!

You immediately frowned. You knew where this was going.

Clawd: Yeah! We could totally use someone like you on the team!

Y/N: Uh...

Gil: Do you know how to play?

Deuce: Doesn't matter! We'll teach him.

Y/N: Guys....

Heath: A Helsing on the Casketball team? That's already a huge advantage.

Y/N: Heyo!

They stopped and looked at you.

Y/N: I'm already busy with, like, three other things. I don't think I can actually join another club.

Clawd: What are you busy with?

You began to count them off on your fingers.

Y/N: Swim team manager, hall monitor, Vampire Queen Bodyguard, and I just remembered I'm also now a Vampire Lord. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even be able to play even if I wanted to.

The guys all stared at you before mumbling their agreements. Clawd went up to take his turn after. He set his yellow golf ball down and began to get ready. However, before he could go, Gil pushed his own club into the back of Clawd's knee. Seeing what he was trying, you quickly did the same to Clawd's other knee.

You all watched as Clawd was folded backwards with a scream.

-------------

You hide behind cover with Gil and peeked out to see if you could find anyone else. You signaled for Gil to move forward when you didn't see anything. Gil quickly made his way forward before hiding behind another wall of cover.

You lifted your weapon before heading to follow, only to feel a sting. Gil looked back when he heard the buzz and reached out for you.

Gil: Y/N!

You fell to the floor and Gil ran over. He sat you up as your limp body groaned.

Gil: Stay with me!

Y/N: Y-You have to leave me behind.

Gil: No, I...

You grabbed his jacket and pulled him close.

Y/N: No! No. You listen to me.

You winced before looking him in the eyes.

Y/N: I know we've never been close, but I will not be the reason you don't get out of here....alive....you need to.....you need to get home.

Gil: Y/N....

Y/N: Now go. Go and get that win, you gorgeous Fishman. Do it....for me.

Then, your hand dropped. Gil looked to the heavens and cried out in agony.

Across the arena, Clawd and Heath watched this entire scene from behind their own cover. Their vests and laser guns would have given them away if you weren't "dying".

Heath: Man. Talk about dramatic.

He turned to Clawd to make a joke, only to find the large monster crying over the whole display. Heath just slowly began to shuffle away.

------------

You turned your wheel quickly as you neared the turn. The six of you were speeding through the track which left the casual kart drivers in the dust every time you lapped them.

You narrowly avoided hitting DJ only for Deuce to sped past you. This quickly went sideways when Clawd threw what looked to be a banana peel onto the track behind him. Deuce's tire ended up losing traction which spun him out and threw the peel off the course.

Deuce: THAT IS SO NOT ALLOWED!

-------------

You all laughed as you shared several baskets of food. After doing pretty much everything you could, you decided to get some food and head back to the dorms.

It was weird, but you actually came to realize that you had just completely forgotten to be a kid. You had been running around and fighting threats and dealing with one thing after another that you never really took the time to just hang out with your friends.

This felt nice. It felt like you were actually a normal teenager. You wouldn't be against doing more stuff like this.

Deuce: Dudes, I have to say, this has been quite a success.

Clawd: No argument against that, bro.

You all smiled and lifted cheese sticks, wings, and onion rings like swords. This was a sign of true brotherhood.
