He starred into my eyes and I knew that he was letting me see everything because he knew, he knew I could see it either way. I looked at Cara and felt her emotions as well but it was the same thing there, no memory came up and not on Mason either. They couldnât keep me from feeling them but somehow they blocked me out of their memories. So did they all know about what I could do? How could they know?
Cara and Mason both looked at me but the second I turned my head, they looked away.
âWhat is it you know?â Kade didnât answer, he just ate his food and ignored me. The others did the same except for Anna who was giving me a look.
After we had eaten me and Kade went back to our room.
He opened the door like a true gentleman and when we stepped in I remembered the talk weâd had.
âWhatâs Anna gonna do?â I asked him. He said he wanted to spend some time with me alone but it felt like I was abandoning her.
âSheâll be fine,â I rose a brow and tilted my head.
âThatâs not what I asked.â He heaved a sigh and ran a hand through his thick hair. Kade had showered, the gel was gone and left was fluffy thick hair, it was glorious.
âSheâs going on a run with the others,â it felt like someone stuck needles into my heart and twisted them.
âGood for her,â I seethed.
âHey Iâm sorry, alright. I know itâs weird but I promise itâs not forever,â
âIf itâs not forever then you can tell me, why arenât I allowed to shift?â
âI canât tell you that yet,â
âWhy the hell not? You canât impose these rules for me to follow without any explanation as to why!â
âJust trust me, please,â he sighed and I saw how heavy hearted he felt over the situation, but so did I.
âHow can I trust a man that I barely know?â His eyes widened slightly and he stepped closer.
His eyes bored into mine as he looked down at me.
âWhatever I do now or in the future will always be for the best, to protect you and keep you safe. Just like the gates,â
âAnd the fifth floor?â I asked and clenched my jaw. I didnât like the idea of living in a secret and apparently there was a whole floor dedicated to secrets.
His look hardened and his eyes flickered as he pressed his lips together.
âThat is not something you need to worry about.â
âWhy? To keep me safe?â He stepped back and walked in small steps around the room.
âJust let it go, I promise in a while youâll forget it even exists,â
âRight, because it seems so majorly unimportant,â I shook my head and sighed.
I felt my wolf pacing restlessly in the back of my mind. She wanted out, she wanted to run and be free and not stay cooped up for another second but I couldnât give that to her and I felt horrible.
Kade showed me where everything was in the room. There was a huge walk in closet behind two doors and half of it was mine. It had already been cleared out and the clothes I had brought barely took up any place.
âWhy is half of it empty?â I asked him and gawked at the beautiful dressers and crystal knobs.
His arm was brushing against mine and I felt him tense besides me.
âTo make room for you,â his half was filled with clothes on the hangers and in the drawers on the dressers. On the bottom shelf with lights that illuminated everything were weekend bags and I saw a rotating watch holder behind glass.
Yet on my side it was empty and had been cleaned. There wasnât a peck of dust or a shirt hanging there that didnât belong to me, something wasnât adding up.
âBut you didnât know youâd meet me?â I looked at him but saw Kade consistently avoiding my gaze.
He drew in a deep breath and turned to look at me, as though he was composing himself.
âThe second I felt you I told them to clean this half up and have it ready for you,â I felt him and it didnât feel anything out of the ordinary, it didnât seem like he was lying so I had to take his word for it.
âI see, well, thank you,â I smiled and walked back out into the room.
âAhh!â I fell down on one knee and clutched my stomach. A shooting pain started stabbing into my gut and my mind was getting foggy. The whole room started to spin and it felt like Kade was hacking when he fell down beside me and grabbed my hands.
His face was blurry and several colors started igniting around him through my faulty vision.
âWhatâs wrong?â His voice sounded so far away but he looked worried.
âI- I donât know,â the spinning got worse and worse until everything went black and my head fell back.
I fluttered my eyes open and looked around the room. Kade sat on a chair next to the bed and had his face tucked in his hands.
âYou scared the shit out of me,â He said.
âwhat happened?â I asked him and looked down on the cover.
âYou screamed and fell and then you just passed out. What happened to you? Did you feel anything?â
âPain,â i said and furrowed my brows. I had a slight headache but nothing to bad. I sat up and placed my feet on the floor. Kade was quick up on his feet and grabbed my hand to help steady me.
âItâs okay, I wonât fall,â I said and smiled as I pulled my hand back to my side.
Just as I stood everything started spinning again and I fell forward.
âOf course you wonât,â he said with a scowl and his voice laced in worry. The light from the wall lamps were hurting my retinas and I blinked furiously to try and get focus.
Clara what happened?
âI donât know but it hurt like hellâ
You felt it too?
âYeah, itâs weird but I canât explain anything thatâs happening and itâs not usually like thisâ
Weâll figure it out
âAnd hopefully weâll do it fastâ
Why?
âBecause that danger i feltâ¦itâs getting worseâ
