Harry just shrugged the notification off.
The fight only lasted for 2 minutes but the adrenaline rush, it was addicting. Somewhere inside he craved for more.
Changing his focus to his companions, 2 of the three beasts were already dead. Gracies was still keeping her beast alive.
It was something that shocked Harry, because according to him she should have been the first person to eliminate her opponent.
Now all four were working together to get it down and as he was about to join to get the free exp the beast had also got eliminated.
"Damm, can't you wait a little more" Harry cursed.
Gracie saw it and just shook her head, She was holding herself back...she knew Harry could get perks from killing a beast and she was trying to help him grow. But by the time he killed his opponent the other members of the party were already there to kill it.
"Next time I will save one for you" Gracie said wiping black dark blood off the sword.
Others also cleaned their weapons and their outfits.
They were still vigilant for any sudden attack.
Harry checked the last notification.
[Congratulations! You killed Silverback Wolf. 20,000 EXP received.]
(EXP: 55,400 / 102,400)
He was still far from leveling up, there was one thing that was clear, the system don't account for how much efforts he puts in killing a beast.
"What do you think, these wolfs were pretty strong... could it be ? That we killed powerful wolves already" Gracie questioned.
"Definitely not" Eldrich laughed and continued.
"You think a pack has this old alpha" pointed towards third level beast.
"If I am right, it's more about survival of pack then individuals. When young blood rises, it challenges old for the leadership. The older gets to demise where younger starts new cycle."
"If I am right these wolves should be the oldest, fighting dangers in outer periphery of jungle, these can be considered scouts that will warn alpha of any danger".
"So we consider ourselves discovered" Nephis stated.
"Not only discovered but ready for any trap, since the mere ability to control a group shows intelligence of a alpha" Eldrich said.
Between the conversation two idiots were doing stupid things.
First Harry was going to each beast and hovering his hand above every beast. While other, Tyler was in a daze, not even a word was going through his head.
Harry was just checking one of his skill, he was trying to use soul eater skill. Till now it never Crossed his mind that this skill could be used on non soul cultivaters. But if he consider he never got a chance.
After killing the bears the ice element user appeared which distracted his mind from using it.
His face was grim, he was still thinking about the last beast, if he could have dealt that last hit.
Than he just wasn't ready to letgo, he at least wanted something more from this fight that's when this idea generated.
His logic was simple, if soul attack can be done on Qi cultivaters than they must have soul which means he can use soul eater skill on them.
As he approached his first wolf that he killed himself his hand hovered above it's body.
He remembered that when a person dies it's soul goes for next cycle of life, in new world as new lifeform.
But then he felt a rush of soul energy. It seems soul is nothing different, it's just something bounded by Body.
'Wait then what makes a man alive or dead' as he was thinking about it the energy stopped improving his cultivation.
With it there was no side effect as mentioned like feeling pain that the person or beast felt while dying or its memories.
'It seems, i would need to do my own research before coming to any conclusion'
Harry checked his status screen.
[Soul cultivation: Foundation building level 6]
There was no difference. It made Harry more curious if it can't increase my cultivation level then what is it changing in me.
This time Harry stopped his wandering mind and used souleater skill.
He paid attention to flow of his energy. He felt his soul energy improving...NO, it was his soul Cultivation that was increasing but the difference was not enough to level him up.
He went to third one and then fourth.
As he used his skill on last wolf he saw a notification.
[Level up]
[Soul cultivation: Foundation building level 7]
[+1 stat point]
[Total 5 stat points]
'it worked' A smile bloomed on Harry's face. Not a smile it was side creepy grin.
There were thought running through his mind. This skill can only be used on deceased person or beast.
He also didn't feel pain from using it. Could it be that their soul was not powerful enough to do any baklash. But killing these 4 beast just to gain a level on foundation building realm could never be worth it.
If he takes his soul Cultivation to elemental master than he would at least need 400 similar beast to improve another level. That's when he realised why there was no mention of gaining power from using it on Qi cultivaters.
It was just not plausible.
Seeing 5 stat points his finger were trembling to upgrade "pocket space" skill because better space items means more money, and who don't love more money.
But he didn't do it, he knew the most important thing was power, power that he could gain from upgrading fighting skills or unlocking a new skill, he was also anticipating his dark element from soul cultivation.
On the other hand Tyler was stuck between a demon and a Devil. He was feeling sometimes demon helps him and sometimes devil works better.
These demon and devil were none other than his reasoning and his special foresight skill.
Every move every fight, it was all about what will he choose.
Till now he tried using either but nothing was perfect. Even believing in his skill would lead a definite demise.
but this fight it was an eyeopener.
In this battle he instinctively tried to use his foresight ability.
However The ability starts showing fragmented or contradictory visions, making him question its reliability. It showed him how he will kill the beast in one hit but will also get killed just after.
Then He considered shutting off his ability and relying purely on instinct and strategy, but the fear of losing control paralyzed him.
His mind oscillates between trusting the ability and fearing it will lead him into a trap.
He recalls past victories where foresight gave him an edge, but also moments where it failed him or nearly got him killed.
A flashback or inner voice "next time never hesitate when you attack, every attack should be targeted to kill your opponent" these were the words said by the person who took his exam in Megumi city.
It was a light blub moment, the weight of realisation dawned upon him... the cloud of confusion regarding his ability vanished.
He understood that this ability should be a tool, not a crutch. Instead of blindly following visions, he should integrate them into his natural instincts and battle awareness.
He experimentsâclosing his eyes for a moment, feeling the battle rather than predicting it.
The fight shifting as he began using foresight in a balanced way, not forcing it but letting it guide him when necessary.
The moment he accepts the balance between foresight and instinct, something clicks.
His realm starts shaking, his Qi refining, as he breaks through his mental block and ascends.
His foresight ability evolves, no longer just showing deterministic visions but adaptable glimpses based on his choices.
