Nora turned around, intending to go back to the car.
But before she could get in, Scarface shouted fiercely, âYou canât do that! There are too many people on the scene who want him dead.â
Nora paused. Suddenly she looked back and asked, âWhat did you say?â
Scarface replied, âWe have a chat group where we do missions. Over the years, quite a few missions have been issued from time to time to kill the Lord of the Hunts. There are a lot of people who are after his life, AND there are also a lot of people who have accepted the missions! While we were here ready to ambush them, we have already encountered four or five other groups coming after himâ¦â
Nora, â!!!â
She had no idea that her son was living in such an environment since he was a baby!
It must be a miracle that he made it to five years old safe and sound!
A sullen Nora asked, âCan you find out who issued the missions?â
The woman had already thoroughly researched his background and found out who his family members were. For his wifeâs sake, Scarface didnât dare lie. He answered truthfully, âMr. Hunt is a well-known man. At the same time, he has also made many enemies in the business world, so who can really say for sure?â
ââ¦â
His words left Nora speechless.
A brief moment later, she said, âWell, just remember what I told you a moment ago.â
Scarface, â!â
Had she said all that in vain?
The men could only watch helplessly as Nora climbed into the car and drove away. They huddled together and asked, âWhat do we do now, boss?â
Scarface shouted angrily, âWhat else can we do? Stay hidden, of course.â
âAre we going to look for another chance to kill him?â
Scarface smacked him upside the head and snapped, âYes, of course! Itâs so we can protect Master Hunt, of course! If anything happens to him, I wonât let any of you go free!â.
ââ¦â
Nora didnât hear how their argument was going. After making another turn, she suddenly stopped the car and got into the back seat through between the driverâs and passengerâs seat.
Cherry asked, ââ¦Whatâs wrong, Mom?â.
Nora grabbed her purse and pulled out some cosmetics. She said, âLetâs not tell your dad the truth for now. Itâs too dangerous. After thinking about it, Iâve decided that someday weâll sneak your brother out and go abroad together to end this.â
ââ¦â
The corners of Cherryâs lips tightened.
So Mom had a bad impression of Dad again after hearing that he had a lot of enemies?
In the village.
Pete had been very excited since he received a text message from Cherry half an hour ago, saying they were going to get together as a family that day.
After much thought, he decided he had to warn the tyrant first, lest he get too nervous and do something inappropriate.
So, after a brief internal struggle, Pete headed for Justinâs study.
With a very serious look on his face, the little boy said to Justin, âDad, I have something to tell you.â
Justin was looking in the mirror and adjusting his clothes. Did the black suit make him look a little old?
But wouldnât a white suit make him look too frivolous?
Dark colors suited him better after all?
Which tie should he wear?
In the midst of his internal struggle, hearing Pete, he raised his eyebrows and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Pete was silent for a moment. Then he finally said, âActually, you have a daughter.â
Justin, â?â
He turned his head sharply to see Pete staring at him seriously.
Father and son looked at each other for a long moment before Justin finally asked, âOh, where is she?â
Pete replied, âYouâll meet her soon enough.â
Practically the instant he said that, his cell phone beeped.
Pete looked down and looked at it: it was an audio message from Cherry. Her young, tender voice rang in his headset: âMom says she doesnât want to tell Dad anymore, Pete. Donât reveal anything by accident, okay?â
Pete, â?â
Her small frame stiffened for a moment. Then he slowly lifted his head and saw that â¦.
The tyrant was staring at him silently.
Staring at him silentlyâ¦.
He was still staring at himâ¦.
ââ¦â
A few seconds later, Pete suddenly bowed his head and did his best to imitate Cherry. He said, âDad, look at me â am I adorable? Am I not adorable? Do I look like a little girl?â.
Justin was totally baffled.
His sonâs personality change had been invisible and sporadic before, but this time he had personally witnessed him go from a taciturn personality to a cute and cuddly one. She felt like she was about to have a mental breakdown.
If one were to visualize how she currently felt using an emoji, then it would definitely be a face that split in half in twoâ¦.
Rows and rows of itâ¦
Pete quietly turned around and walked away. He let out a long, heavy sigh.
Life was too hard.
At his young age, he was bearing a burden that someone his age shouldnât have to bear.
Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang suddenly. Before Pete could do anything, he saw the tyrant quickly approaching. However, he didnât open the door immediately upon reaching it. Instead, he straightened his clothes a bit before finally opening the door. There was even a smile on her face.
That must be Miss Smith at the door â¦.
⦠Or so Justin thought. Instead, he saw a surprised and flattered Chester standing outside. âAre you really opening the door for me, Justin?â
Justin, â?â
With a look of displeasure, he asked, âWhy are you here?â
Chester smiled and replied, âToday is your birthday, so I came especially to celebrate with you!â
ââ¦â
Justin stepped aside to let him pass. Chester entered the house and placed the gift in the hallway.
In the kitchen, Sean and the others were preparing lunch.
After all, they had told Miss Smith the day before that it was a âbirthday partyâ, so they couldnât have anyone else around.
A while later, the doorbell rang again.
Chester, who liked to run errands the most, ran to answer the door.
Seeing that he had approached, Justin stayed on the couch, though he sharpened his ears. However, when he glanced at the door out of the corner of his eye, he saw Tina York enter instead. She exuded mature charm all over as she stood gracefully and said, âHappy birthday, Mr. Hunt.â
Justinâs expression darkened even more. âWhat are you doing here?â
Tinaâs fists clenched a little, but the next moment, she asked politely, âIs it inconvenient for me to be here?â
Normally, the host would never kick anyone out when they came with birthday presents, right?
But as soon as he said that, he heard Justin respond coldly, âYes, it certainly is.â
Tina, â?â
Chester could sense Justinâs displeasure. Knowing that he was the one who had let her in, he smiled awkwardly and said, âEveryone here tonight is a man, Miss York. Itâs really awkward when youâre the only woman hereâ¦â
In other words, have some self-awareness and leave after you drop off the gift!
However, Tina acted as if she didnât understand what I meant and said, âItâs okay. Weâve grown up together, so you can think of me as a boy.â
After speaking, she went straight to the kitchen.
Just then, the doorbell rang again.
Tina ran and opened the door as she said, âIâll get it.â
However, when she opened the door, she saw Noraâs pretty face. Tinaâs expression immediately darkened. She took a couple of steps, lowered her voice and asked, âWhy are you here?â.
Nora, â?â
She raised her eyebrows. âWhy canât I be here?â
Tina immediately replied, âThere is still some difference in status between the Andersons and the Hunts, Miss Smith. I advise you to stop daydreaming. Besidesâ¦Mr. Hunt has said that it is not convenient to receive female guests in your home today. Please leave.â
After saying that, he immediately stepped back and closed the door.
Inside, Justin, who saw no one enter, asked, âWho was that?â
âOh,â Tina smiled kindly and said, âItâs nothing. The building management staff came to wish you a happy birthday, but they said they wouldnât come in in case they disturbed you.â
