Fearing that Doctor Lincoln would notice something, Tina became terribly nervous. After looking at her left and right for quite a while, Doctor Lincoln finally smiled and said, âThis pill Jon has made sure is amazing. I really canât figure out how itâs made.â
Tina, â???â
She clearly remembered that it was Doctor Lincoln who had recognized the Rest Pill at the medical conference back then.
How come he no longer recognized it?
However, she didnât have time to pay that much attention to it. She smiled and replied, âYes, this pill my teacher made has a very problematic manufacturing process, so itâs understandable that I canât figure out how itâs made.â
Dr. Lincoln nodded and said nothing more. He handed the pill back to her.
Tina let out a huge sigh of relief. She took the pill from him and had Ian consume it, thus extending its shelf life again.
When she left after the routine checkup, Joel personally escorted her out the door. This left her ecstatic. The head of the Smiths had bestowed such an honor on her.
The Smiths lived in a large mansion. Joel escorted her to the parlor door and said, âDonât hesitate to approach me if you have any problems in the future, Dr. York.â
This was a weighty promise on his part.
Tina hesitated for a moment and said, âMr. Smith, indeed there is somethingâ¦. As a matter of fact, I have received my M.D. from New York University School of Medicine and am currently applying to be a professor on the facultyâ¦â
She had not yet turned thirty. If she became a professor at a medical university and was allowed to train graduate students, she would become a legend in the medical field on par with Anti!
With all certainty, Joel said dispassionately, âI see.
âI seeâ¦â
Tina climbed into the car. As she continued to think about what he had meant by that, she received a call from the medical universityâs human resources department.
âDr. York, your application has been approved. As of today, you are the youngest professor at our university~â
Tina, â!!!â
gⱯlnÏνð®ðsï¹ð¬ððº, the heart of fiction She looked in front of her in amazement.
The Smiths had sent a Rolls-Royce to pick her up on her way to the review. Then she looked sideways: the people in the guard house had opened the doors respectfully and even greeted her.
This feeling that people were showing her great respect made her feel as if her ego was about to inflate.
So this was what it felt like to be in power.
The Smiths were already this powerful despite being second only to the Hunts. If she could really get Justin to fall in love with herâ¦. Suddenly, she thought of Nora again and a contemplative look appeared in her eyes.
After leaving the Smiths, Tina suddenly looked at the chauffeur and said with a smile, âCan I trouble you for a ride to Mr. Myersâ house? I have something to discuss with my teacher.â
The chauffeur replied respectfully, âOkay, Dr. York.â
Jon Myers was shouting furiously in the living room when Tina arrived at the small villa where he lived.
âHow did I ever give birth to an animal like you! How can you ever gamble again! Youâll spend all our savings sooner or later.â
Her son, Winston Myers, was sitting on the sofa with a cheeky grin. He said, âThen hurry up and get Tina to marry me. Then you can get her to be the one to run the family.â
Tinaâs footsteps, which were about to enter, stopped slightly.
She lowered her head, a look of annoyance crossing her eyes.
Thatâs right, she and Winston were classmates in college. He had courted her all the time when they were students. When she discovered that Winston was a disappointment and that Jon had no reliable successor, she had feigned affection for Winston. Thatâs why Jon considered her his direct successor.
Otherwise, why would Jon treat her so well?
Tina walked into the living room.
Sure enough, Jon looked at her and said, âTry talking to him when you have time, Tina! He lounges around all day.â
Being reprimanded in front of Tina, Winston couldnât take it anymore. He said, âDonât listen to his nonsense. Heâs just taking his anger out on me because he couldnât figure out how to make the Rest Pills! Will he only stop thinking Iâm âloafing all dayâ if I steal the formula for the Rest Pills from him?â
Jon was so angry that he took a step back and pointed at her incredulously!
Tina hurried to step forward and held him down. She said, âWinston, how can you talk to him like that? Whatâs the big deal about the Rest Pills? Itâs not like the Rest Pills necessarily belong to the Andersons.â
Jon frowned and looked at her, âWhat do you mean?â
Tina smiled and replied, âAlthough Yvette Anderson was the one who developed the Rest Pill, it is her daughter who brought the formula here with her. In other words, the formula belongs to her daughter, Nora Smith. Well, eventually Nora has to get married, doesnât she?â
Marry?
Something suddenly clicked in Jonâs mind and he looked directly at Winston, but right after he looked back at Tina. He looked hesitant and didnât know what to say.
Tina looked down and sighed. âMr. Myers, thereâs actually something Iâve never mentioned before. Iâve always considered Winston my brother all these yearsâ¦â
Jon immediately understood what she meant. He said with a smile, âIâve also only considered you as my goddaughter all these years, Tina!â.
Tina broke into a smile. She said, âIn that case, what are you still waiting for, Mr. Myers? If you donât hurry, other people may come to them when they get the same ideaâ¦â
Jon said, âIâll get someone to talk to them about marriage right now!â.
As Jon pulled out his cell phone and went to take care of business, Tina looked at Winston and sighed. She said, âWinston, it is Mr. Myersâ wish that the Myers prosper. If removing myself from the scene can make them happy, I will definitely be happy to-â
However, Winston suddenly stood up excitedly and said, âNora Smith? Is that the same Nora Smith who impressed everyone with her dancing at the party? I remember her! Sheâs super beautiful.â
Tina, âOh!â
Seeing the adoration in Winstonâs eyes, she was suddenly quite offended!
When Jon returned after the phone call, Tina suddenly asked, âHowâs your relationship with Dr. Lincoln, Mr. Myers?â
Jon scoffed, âLincoln uses his seniority to put himself on equal footing with me. Hahaha, he thinks too highly of himself.â
Did he mean they didnât get along?
If so, that meant that Dr. Lincoln covering up the Rest Pill issue for her wasnât because Jon had asked him to.
If so, who had asked him?

On the Andersons.
Neither Melissa nor Simon expected to receive a guest at nine oâclock in the evening. It was Mrs. Levin, the wife of Dr. Levin, a famous New York surgeon who was also well-known in the medical field.
The Levins were on good terms with the Myers. However, the Andersons were competitors of the Myers, so the Levins rarely visited them during all these years.
Melissa and Simon were quite surprised to see her.
Mrs. Levin, however, was not a shy woman. She took Melissaâs hand and said, âMrs. Anderson, where is your Niece Nora? I hear she has beaten her sister-in-law and even prevented her from joining the Lowesâ real estate investment.â
Melissa: â?â
Mrs. Levin continued. âI also heard that he insisted that I invest in stocks. Isnât that just too insensitive and frivolous of him?â
Simonâs expression darkened. He found it too loud, so he turned on the television and switched to the financial news channel.
