Mrs. Lewis had worked as a housekeeper for Mrs. Hunt’s family at the time, so she got along very well with Mrs. Hunt. When Mrs. Hunt married, she had also followed her to the Hunts. After so many years working as a housekeeper, she had already reached an annual income of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

So $150,000 was not really an amount that surprised her that much.

She looked at the pills in the metal box and swallowed again. “Ma’am, these don’t look like Rest Pills to me-why do they look so much like Calming Pills?”

Mrs. Hunt was shocked to hear that they were Soothing Pills. After being silent for a moment, she said, “You have done the right thing in giving me Soothing Pills, as they are suitable for my condition. It’s not that the Andersons can’t afford to give me the Resting Pills, but they have given me the Soothing Pills. I suppose they are still quite considerate. But why make a fuss about the Soothing Pills? They’re cheap. Besides, as amazing as your Soothing Pills are, they can’t be worth as much as the Resting Pills, can they?”

A dumbfounded Mrs. Lewis looked at her. “They’re …. Zabe Corporation’s Soothing Pills.”

Tap.

The glass of water in Mrs. Hunt’s hand dropped onto the table. She looked at Mrs. Lewis in astonishment. “What?”

Mrs. Lewis looked at the box in her hand. “These are Zabe Corporation’s Soothing Pills. The smell and all are very similar, and their name is also written on the pills. Besides, there are 64 of them here!”

Everyone had already sung so many praises to Yvonne just because she had given one, but Nora had actually given her a total of 64 of them…!

Mrs. Hunt got up at once. The old lady approached Mrs. Lewis with a few steps. She clutched the box in her hand and said, “Let me see!”.

Mrs. Hunt was a very knowledgeable woman. She examined the pills closely. Then, she broke off a small piece of one of them and popped it in her mouth to taste it. In the end, she confirmed it. “These are indeed the Zabe Corporation’s Soothing Pills.”

She and Mrs. Lewis looked at each other after speaking, and both were stunned for a while.

After waiting ten seconds, Mrs. Hunt finally asked, “How did the Andersons get such expensive pills?”

Mrs. Lewis was totally stunned. “The Andersons have been trading in traditional medicine for many generations. If you think about it carefully, it’s not so surprising that they have these pills. After all, they are also a family with a solid foundation. But if that’s the case, then why didn’t Miss Smith say so in front of everyone now? So, they ended up being secretly mocked for nothing.”

Mrs. Hunt frowned at his words. “Either she really doesn’t care about things like reputation and so on – it’s long been said that Melissa Anderson is indifferent to fame and fortune, she’s very humble – or…. these pills may not belong to the Andersons, so they have to be discreet about it.”

Mrs. Lewis understood at once. “They’re not from the Andersons? Does that mean that Mr. Hunt gave them to her so that she can give them to you without embarrassment?”

Mrs. Hunt had already thought of that when Mrs. Lewis was speaking. She noticed something and said, “No wonder Justin showed no sign of hesitation or apology when he came to get the pill just now. He already knows.”

He felt much better now and thought that his grandson was still his grandson after all. He hadn’t changed just because he now had a girlfriend.

He looked at Mrs. Lewis with some relief. Then she sighed and said, “Justin sure is hurting for her! Tell me, am I being too hard on her?”.

Mrs. Lewis comforted her. “It’s mainly because you don’t understand her character.”

Many people resorted to unscrupulous means to marry into a wealthy family. They pretended purity, played innocent, and made all sorts of pretexts. Mrs. Hunt had been through it all, too, and had seen many like that.

When a stray girl from the country suddenly turned up with an illegitimate child she had had with someone else, how could Mrs. Hunt have nothing against her?

Mrs. Lewis said, “What worries her most is still Mr. Hunt. It’s because she’s indignant about him. After all, he is so outstanding. There are so many outstanding women from good families who want to marry him, so why did he simply have to choose such a woman…?”

Mrs. Hunt sighed. “Let’s observe her a while longer! If her character is passable, for Justin’s sake, I’ll still show her some courtesy when we’re in front of strangers, even if I don’t like her! But if she doesn’t have a good character, or if she mistreats Pete, I definitely won’t let her marry into the family! Pete is the future of the Hunts.”

Mrs. Lewis nodded. “She’s right.”

Ian gradually regained consciousness after taking the Zabe Corporation’s Calming Pill.

To prevent him from having another emotional breakdown, Joel went ahead and took Ian back to the hospital. After all, the doctors and nurses at the hospital would be able to keep his bodily functions alive safely.

When Justin and Nora came back downstairs, the way everyone was looking at Nora had already changed.

Everyone was talking about the woman who became Cinderella. She was so lucky – and to think she actually turned out to be Ian’s daughter!

No one thought otherwise.

After all, Yvette had been in a relationship with Ian back then. Plus, he even stayed single for life because of her, so everyone naturally brought Ian into the affair.

They didn’t realize at all that Ian had just said she was the Smiths’ daughter.

Nora, however, knew nothing of this. She was still frowning and thinking about what had happened then.

She hadn’t just been sleeping the whole time she was at the Andersons’ house.

From time to time, he would go through what his mother had left behind.

Some of the books even contained notes and interpretations his mother had made.

Through those writings, he had gotten a general idea of Yvette’s character.

The woman was aggressive and stubborn by nature. In the patriarchal environment of the time, it was not at all easy to rise to the challenge and become the head of the Andersons.

How was it possible for such a woman to end up with Ian’s brother while she was in a relationship with him?

If she had really fallen in love with Ian’s brother? Given her personality, she would have simply broken up with that man instead, and she would have been as determined as she had rejected Justin’s father. Why would she run away from home after getting pregnant and fleeing New York?

She couldn’t help but feel that her mother didn’t seem like someone who would do that.

When the party came to an end, Nora had Melissa take Cherry home while she followed Justin to the hospital to visit Ian.

After all, they hadn’t solved the problems they were talking about just now. She still hadn’t been told which of Ian’s brothers was his father.

It was late in the afternoon when they arrived at the hospital.

Joel was sitting quietly in the hallway late at night. He seemed to know they were both coming, so he was waiting for them.

Ian was already asleep.

Joel said, “You can ask me if you have any questions, because I was the one who took care of everything.”

Nora lowered her head. “I want to know how you got my DNA samples.”

Joel said unhurriedly, “Someone took some strands of your hair when you were in medical school the other time. The person I sent to protect you happened to be nearby, so he chased the person down and snatched the hair.”

“… So, have you ever considered that the hair might have been switched?” asked Nora.

Joel was a little taken aback by her suggestion.

Nora looked around the room and said slowly but firmly, “I want to redo the DNA test.”
