The sea breeze whispered and whistled.
Irisâs skirt fluttered as if it was going to take her with it and fly through the air.
The scrawny woman stood on the edge of the deck, swaying in the wind. She looked like she was going to lose her balance and fall at any moment.
Philipâs eyes widened. âIris, get back here! Come back!â
Iris looked at him, with a determined look. She said firmly, âLet me go home, or else Iâll jump from here!â.
Philip frowned. âAre you threatening me with your life? Even if you jump, there are doctors on the cruise ship, I wonât let you die! Without my permission, you canât die.â
âReally?â
Iris suddenly smiled. Then, she turned around and jumped without hesitation!
The sea was very blue and there was a lot of wind.
In the distance, the sky was also very clear.
In that atmosphere, among the waves, when the white figure fell into the water, she was quickly swallowed by the waves and rose up and fell into the sea.
âIris!â cried Philip. He rushed forward and jumped into the sea without hesitation.

âââ¡â â¤ââââ£â⢠ââ ââââââ¥âââ¢.âââ Half an hour later.
In a lounge on the ship.
Philip was wet all over. The sea water was sticking his hair to his face and the sticky feeling was terrible. Even though the heating in the room was on full blast, he still felt terribly uncomfortable.
He looked over at Iris, who was lying on the bed.
The womanâs eyes were tightly closed. On her pale face, without even a trace of pink, her eyelashes trembled gently. Her body was also shivering from the cold.
Although she was wrapped in a quilt, she could not relieve the cold she was feeling.
Philip looked at her.
Irisâs lips moved slightly and she said slowly, âPhilip, I want to go home.â
As she stared at her, Philipâs tightly clasped hands clenched and unclenched, again and again. A while later, she stood up abruptly and shouted at the door, âJason!â.
Jason rushed in. âBoss.â
Philipâs sinister eyes stared at Iris, the corners of his lips curved in a mocking arc. He commanded, âGet back to shore!â
Jason was surprised and looked at Iris. Finally, he nodded. âOkay.â
The cruiser made a U-turn forward and went straight back the way it had come.
Philip sat in the room for a long time. He didnât go to take a shower.
He just stared at Iris in amazement until she opened her eyes and looked at him. Her tone was a little light and her voice pitifully soft.
His words were clearly so soft, but also so cruel. She said, âPhilip, arenât you doing everything you want because you know I like you, so I wonât bear to kill you? I can do the same thing too.â
Philip looked at her in surprise.
It was the first time in many years that Iris had told him that she liked him.
He was even crying a little with joy. His eyes were moist as he stared at her. âIris, you like me. Youâve admitted it. As I expected, you like me, donât you?â
Iris pulled her hand away and turned her head to look away.
Philip continued. âSo are we going to be together? Your son is already dead, so no one can tie you down anymore. Come with me.â
Iris let out an icy laugh. She looked at him and said, âIf you insist on taking me with you, what you will take with you in the end will surely be only my corpse.â
Philip â!â
The room was terribly silent. Only the waves outside could be heard.
Philip looked at the obstinate Iris. He did not understand her.
âIris, I like you very much, and you reciprocate my feelings too. We are in love with each other. Why canât we be together?â.
Iris replied, âMaybeâ¦this is what they mean when they say a couple is not meant to be together.â
Sometimes love was about letting go and feeling fulfilled.
But Philip would never understand the meaning of these words.
He would never ever understand what they meant.
Iris didnât want to discuss this with him anymore. It seemed pointless to her. She just wanted to go home now. She wanted to go back to New York and get back to the people who needed her.
Philip looked at her, his cold attitude making her angry as she gritted her teeth. He clenched his fists tightly. After a while, he finally said, âI can let you go back and look around if thatâs what you want, but once youâve seen them, you must come with me right away! Iris, Iâve already told you that I love you. Even if what I take is your corpse, no one can separate us!â
After saying this, Philip stood up abruptly. After he left, Jason followed him.
Philip looked around the room again. Then he looked down and said, âGather our men on the shore and tell them to wait there. After we take Iris to Justinâs grave, we will bring her back immediately.â
Jason immediately asked, âWhat if Kingâs men are there, too?â
Philip narrowed his eyes. âThat shouldnât be the case.â
He looked down and said, âWhatever happens, I still have some status in the Imperial League. Now that Justinâs gone, Iâm the closest to Iris. King probably wonât meddle in our affairs anymore.â
After saying that, a merciless look formed in his eyes. âBut if he insists on meddling, then you canât blame me for not showing him more courtesy!â
Jason was stunned. He felt that his boss must have lost his mind. And to think that he now dared to resist even King! In the past, he had more or less still had some reservations in his actions, but there were none left.
But seeing the bloodthirsty look on his bossâs face, he could only nod his head and go out to make preparations.
Since they had been sailing for several days, it took them two full days to return.
Two days later, when Iris saw the coast in the distance, even her body â which Mrs. Landis was holding â was trembling slightly.
She was about to return home. How she wished the news she had heard was false. Even now, she felt as if she were in a dream, as if none of this had happened; that Justin was not dead, but waiting for her to come home.

Switzerland.
In a room somewhere.
The room was large and the lighting was dim.
A low, husky voice said slowly, âTheyâre back? That was fast.â
Lawrence lowered his head. âYes, theyâve already disembarked. Theyâll be heading for New York soon.â
âWell, since theyâre back, then letâs go save Mom.â
The man across from him spoke again.
Lawrence nodded. âI have already arranged for our men to be there. However, our men ultimately still have to think twice before acting in the country, so they may not be as bold as Philipâs men. I fear that when the time comes to fight, accidents may happen.â
In the shadows, the man with his back to Lawrence was silent. A while later, he finally said, âFind a way to warn Nora about this. If sheâs there, sheâll help.â
Lawrence sighed. âIâm afraid sheâs just trying to delay her arrival in Switzerland, isnât she? But boss, considering how intelligent Miss Smith is, will she really be unable to deduce what sheâs done?â
The man did not answer her question. He merely stood by the darkened window for a long time. A while later, he finally turned around slowly.
Seeing his present appearance, the startled Lawrence became alarmed. âChief, youâ¦â
