NOTE: I would be grateful if you guys told me what chapter length you prefer. The ones I have been making until now or the longer ones like today.
I know that sometimes the chapters can feel way too long and get boring, I don't want to make the story hard to read just because of the length.

WARNING: Mentions of blood
Price relayed all the information that we needed, after that he started assigning our roles. Not like we didn't know who would take on what role, Ghost was leading the whole thing with Soap by his side. Gaz was going to take care of cameras and locked doors, which made me feel a little unneeded.
I was of course their watcher, the person who made sure that they wouldn't get stabbed in the back. How ironic.
"Someone will be joining you on the spot, they will make sure that you can get out safely."
Great another team member to care for.
After placing a new scope on my favourite sniper, I made sure I had my gear on securely. Everyone were getting ready to leave, the mission wasn't going to be an easy one and we needed to make sure that everyone were prepared for everything.
I stayed quiet the entire ride, I was once again squished but this time It was against a wall and Ghost.
Once he noticed I got in first he quickly made his way to take the seat next to me, It's like he didn't want anyone else near me...
My work personality started slowly taking over, letting me tune out from anything that was currently unimportant. Except from König. I started feeling anxious. Now I had something I cared for, someone I wanted to come back to. I started getting worried for both myself and him. I tried to get rid of those thoughts, but it seemed like they would be stuck in the back of my head regardless.
The car came to a stop and we got out of it, I fixed my weapon as we got closer to another vehicle. I could see someone clearly waiting for us, the person who we were supposed to work with.
From afar I could tell the man was of a rather big stature and I groaned softly, being reminded again of the person that took root in my mind.
We came to a halt before the other car, the man turned towards us, that's when I realized who was standing before us and I thought I was going to throw myself on him. Ghost blocked me before I could take another step.
"Stay in position."
Maybe I should have dug his eyes out with my nails last time I had the chance. His futile tries didn't matter much as König was soon standing next to us. He was eyeing Ghost like a predator, weirdly the shorter man didn't fall back. Did he think there was still a chance for him?
"Colonel."
"Lieutenant."
I ignored the weird tension between the two, Soap and Gaz soon greeted König and I crossed my arms starting to question him.
"You, why are you here? And why didn't you tell me?"
"It was a last minute call, Schatz. I only found out after you left."
Either way if König was here, I had no need to worry. Everything would go well. The anxious feeling that has been bubbling in my chest has suddenly disappeared, leaving me more relaxed then I have been the day before.
I moved Ghost's hand away and stepped closer to the sweet Austrian man. I didn't care that the task force was here, I didn't want to hide my feelings. However I wasn't going to flaunt them in front of everyone until I knew that König is comfortable with me doing so.
Instead I went for a hug.
"It's good to see you."
What you couldn't see was how the two men looked at one another. One with a smirk of victory under his mask. The other with pure anguish in his eyes.
---
I took my position further on a mountain among the trees, Gaz stayed with König in case something happened. Ghost and Soap started making their way through the complex, I took care of anyone who was in their way.
"We made it inside, stand by for an update."
I took a deep breath, this was all on the two of them now. The snow slowly started to cover my body, it made me almost invisible due to the harsh weather. I got up from my spot, although they told us to wait for an update I needed to get closer. after making my way down the mountain I got to one of the buildings that were further away.
The soldiers were clearly less stationed here, some of the conplexes completely empty. I guess they didn't have enough people to put here. I took care of the only soldier that was blocking my way up the roof, my knife dug into his flesh. And after dragging his body away I set up my sniper on the edge of the roof, the vision through my scope was unclear because of the falling snow.
"Update?"
I got a little worried as none of them had said anything for around 20minutes. The only thing keeping me off the edge was Gaz who was constantly giving them instructions.
"Stand by."
Was the only answer I got. I took a deep breath, hoping everything is going as planned. I passed my time by cleaning my sniper, I looked trough the scope to make sure I could see clearly, that's when I saw it.
Just for a second but I could see Ghost and Soap through one of the windows, they were hiding as soldiers gathered surrounding them. I laid down and set my gun in position, looking throughit once again, ready to shoot at any moment.
The two made quick work of the enemy and I saw Ghost starting to make his way through the room, Soap was waving his hand around, as if in the middle of a conversation.
Were they arguing about something?
Ghost looked like he wasn't taking him seriously so I didn't think anything of it. None of my business after all.
I was about to shift into a more comfortable position. But something always has to go south, Soap got grabbed by another soldier from behind, putting him in a head lock that he had no way of getting out of. The man was pointing his gun to Ghost's back and I felt my breath get caught in my throat.
Steady. I don't think my hands were ever more steady. Not when I was helping Alejandro. Nor when I took Williams gun to shoot the general who tried to kill us. Not even when I shot down the sniper who killed my brother.
No. my hands were always shaky in those situations, that's why they had to be steady now. To make sure I won't miss. One tremble. And I might not see the two of them again.
Bang.
One shot.
I saw the man's lifeless body fall to the ground, letting Soap free of his deadly grip. I wasn't fast enough, Ghost only managed to turn around before he grabbed his side clearly in pain.
He got shot. In his stomach as well.
"Next time, give a fucking update!"
I yelled into our coms. I was there to help, so why not rely on me a little!?
"Should we start Evac?"
Gaz's voice rang out in my ear, the microphone made him sound slightly different.
I looked through my gun again noticing the red. Oh god. Now I knew what Gaz meant. It went through his fucking bullet proof vest.
"We will continue as instructed, it's not a grave injury."
I made my way from one roof to another, from building to building, walking through the corridors. Ghost and Soap had to move, they knew their position, and I was getting there to help them.
"Negative. I am making my way over."
"Stay in position, Viper."
I ignored him completely and made my way through the halls.
"Gaz some help?"
"Don't."
Ghost's voice was stern, but I could care less.
"Seventh floor. Take the first right, the end of the corridor, fifth door on the left."
"Garrick, god damn it. We need her covering our gray spot."
I moved faster, making sure no one else saw me, I didn't want to bring more company over to them. I could only slip in because the whole facility was focused on finding the two of them.
"She can do so while being with you, Ghost."
Their banter filled my ears, with Gaz occasionally making me aware of nearby enemies. I finally found the door and knocked on it three times, before speaking.
"Can I? It's me, Viper."
Soap opened the door and harshly tugged me inside, carefully closing it behind me as to not make any unneeded (unneccessary) noise.
"We told you to stay in position."
So he can get mad after all. I looked over to Ghost who was currently in the process of pulling his gear off, his stomach already covered in blood. Oh god, he was bleeding a lot, actually he was bleeding way too much. This wasn't good at all.
I passed the Scottish man and took off my sniper placing it on the floor and kneeling next to the injured man.
"Not fatal? You are bleeding like a duck slit for soup."
He looked at me confused, forgetting the pain for a moment and I rolled my eyes.
"A Polish thing, you wouldn't get it."
"Then speak English, god damn it."
I could tell it was starting to get hard for him to talk. I looked at Soap who after securing the door made his way over to us, he was holding some kind of bottle with him. He started helping Ghost and I turned my attention back to coms.
"How are you three doing?"
"Ghost can't keep going, he needs to be treated immediately, we need to get out of here."
"You do what you need to do, König is already on his way. I am staying on cameras since Viper is there."
Soap helped Ghost take of his vest, the shot was awful, he was starting to spill blood like crazy. The red slowly filled my eyes again. We needed to stop the bleeding, and we had to do it fast. Simon grabbed the bottle and opened it, it was booze, was he planing on spilling it over his wound?!
"What are you stupid?! You don't use alcohol!"
I grabbed the bottle, yanking it out of his hand.
"What are you doing-!"
He tried to take it back but the wound stopped him from even as far as reaching towards me.
"Viper-"
This time Soap tried to intervene, but I didn't listen to them, I grabbed water that I took with me. I quickly unscrew it open, shuffling closer to Ghost and washed off the blood from his skin.
"Alcohol will only make the bleeding worse, you should know that. Have you never treated your own wounds?"
"Only minor injuries. We have medics for a reason."
Soap butted in, Ghost was in no condition to banter.
I didn't have the time to admire his greek like body, but I did notice he gained some weight since last time I saw him shirtless. Not that it made him look any worse.
"Fuck."
"What?"
Soap asked with evident worry in his voice.
"The bullet didn't go through."
That gave us two options, we had to take it out or wait for Evac and then get to a medic. I looked at Soap hoping he understood what I meant, that's when Simon grabbed my hand.
"We can keep going, I will manage until Price gets here-"
"No."
Not again.
"Viper there is no time."
"I said no, ja pierdolÄ! I'm your superior, so listen to me for once!" (For fucks sake!)
I am not a coward. Not anymore. I am not leaving anyone to die, especially not on our way back.
"Soap bring me the bag from the medic."
I pointed towards a dead soldier, who was now laying in the pool of his own blood. So was Ghost, the only difference being that he isn't dead yet.
"Fucking now, Soap!"
The man finally jumped to his feet bringing me the med kit in a rush. In the mean time I took of my gloves, after that I opened the medical bag, taking out all the essentials. I grabbed the tweezers into my hand and washed it with the alcohol that I took from them earlier.
"Hell no. You aren't playing doctor."
"Do you want us to watch you bleed out?"
My voice cracked when it shouldn't, I was trying to keep strong but I caught a glimpse of the needle. Fucking hate those pointy things.
"Sit still, Lt."
Even Soap was able to grasp the severity of the situation, his hands landing on Ghost's shoulders, keeping him from moving.
I kept my hands steady, just as if I was using my sniper. One shot, this time instead of sending the bullet, I needed it to return to me.
I was kneeling with Ghost's leg in between mine, I leaned down closer, getting a better look at the situation.
"This might hurt."
"No shot."
"Actually, just one."
My fingers grazed his skin as I slowly slid the tweezers into the torn flesh, suddenly his right hand grabbed my waist. I almost pulled away in surprise. The closer I got to the bullet, the tighter his grasp on me got.
"AÅa." I said slowly, making sure it doesn't disrupt my work.
"Sorry..."
He huffed out. I knew it must hurt more then it seems, after all it's not like I never got shot myself.
"Deep breaths, Lt. Just focus on something else."
The Scott tried to bring the mood up, it looked like he was doing a good job, because as soon as he spoke those words Ghost seemed to stop fidgeting as much as he was before. I finally grabbed the bullet with the tweezers but didn't pull it out yet.
"Take out bandages from the med kit, get some more fabric as well, we will have to make a compression."
I still needed to sew the wound, I think Ghost saw my expression as I looked at the needle.
"I can-"
"No. Be a good boy and sit still."
His hand was now softly gripping my thigh instead.
I spoke before he could finish, no way I was going to back out just because of a needle. No matter how much trauma they gave me I wasn't this pitiful. So I grabbed it and sanitized it with the alcohol.
"This will-"
"Just get with it."
---
While I was taking care of Ghost, treating his wound and keeping him alive. König and Soap secured the target. I knew that if König was here I didn't need to worry. At least not about myself. But Ghost made me worried for him instead.
I had to admit, I only worked as a medic for a bit over a year and never thought much of it, but today I was more then happy that I knew what I was doing. Soon the wound was stitched so I followed with the compression.
König was standing right behind us, not really happy with the fact that my hands were touching another man, however he didn't say a word. He couldn't say anything after he saw my worried face, the pure panic that was buried deep in my body must have been somehow visible to him.
He helped Ghost stand and move, it was one of the few times I have seen the two completely calm with each others presence. Me and Soap covered the front and back, Gaz made sure we could get out through the safest route.
This mission wasn't a failure.
But for some reason that is exactly how it felt.
