Chapter 7
Sebastian caught Fionaâs eye she startert to split. âHold up, did I say I wasnât gonna help you?â he called out to her.
Fiona stopped dead in her tracks, her face lighting up like she just got the best news even
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips. âYouâre such a firecrackerâand youâve got zero chill,â
Inside, Fiona was rolling her eyes. âNot another pep talk, she thought, totally done with getting schooled by Macy.
Sebastian laughed, âWhat if I told you Iâm in? Iâll make sure you got that house and the dough.â
âYou for real?â Fiona spun around, hope written all over her face.
Sebastian kicked back, swishing his wine around. He gave her the nod.
Fiona plopped back in her seat, straight as ruler, hands neatly on the table, looking every bit like the good kid in class. âThereâs nothing I love more than hearing out the folks who know stuff,â she said all sweetness. âGo Iâm all ears.â
Sebastian
bit back a smile at her quick changeâup, letting out a low chuckle. Even he didnât get why he was getting a kick out of this.
Fiona waited for him to spill, but when he didnât, she jumped in. âYouâre spot on, Mr. Quinn. My temper can totally flare up. Wonât happen again, promise. What else should I know?â
This time, Fiona meant business, pulling out her phone and getting ready to jot it all down.
Sebastian caught a glimpse of her phone, and it made him think of all those people hungry for , but Fionaâs blunt way was kind of a breath of fresh air. He wasnât hating itâthat was for sure.
ena, not even worrying about what he thought, hit record on her phone. âJust to be clear, the house and the cash you talked aboutâitâs all mine? When do we make it official?â
Sebastian looked at the phone and gave a small âhm.â He continued, âAs long as youâre smooth about it, youâll get it all after a month. Consider the money done.â
Fionaâs smile was just about the sunniest thing. âIâll make it easy, cross my heart. Mr. Quinn, running into you is like hitting the jackpot since I got to Jerraloth!â
Sebastian chilled out as he teased, âGeez, laying it on thick, arenât you?â
Fiona shrugged. âI canât help it. Youâre too cool, Mr. Quinn.â She was thinking about the big bucksâlike 80 million dollars big. How could she not butter him up? With that kind of money on the line, she could sing his praises all week long âSo, youâre gonna help without any repayment, just like that?â
âNot a freebie,â Sebastian said, playing with the turquoise bracelet on the table. âIâm doing you solid, so it stands to reason Iâd get something out of it. I donât need a favor now, but Iâll hit you up when I do.â
Fiona studied him, trying to read between the lines. His eyes were deep and mysterious. He seemed to not care much about anything, yet she felt like she was totally on his radar. After thinking for a moment, she flashed a big smile. âSure, name it whenever. I owe you one.â Owing a favor to Sebastian could work in her favor. She wasnât going to turn down a helpful hand at a shot at billions âLetâs scootâIll take care of the bill.â
âDonât botherâthey donât charge me here. Some other time,â he smoothly declined,
Fiona was blown away, thinking, âNot paying for a meal like this? Man, the rich have it made. And it worked out for me too! âWhen Iâm rolling in it, Iâll hook you up with a fancy meal to say ,â she promised.

Sebastian nodded and got up, âWhere to? Iâll drop you off.â
âOver at Summerlyn Garden,â Fiona said. The spot was next to a fancy school named Blueden Girlsâ School where was full of rich and smart girls. The school had a history of nearly a hundred years. Did well there, and the girls were golden, becoming the top choices for prospective daughtersâinâlaw among the elite circles. As a result, countless girls and their parents were eager to get a place in the school. âYou thinking of hitting the books there?â Sebastian asked, a bit curious.
Fiona shook her head. âNah, just got a place nearby.â
Sebastianâs eyebrow popped up a notch. âYou bought it? Nice choice.â
Fiona quick to say, âStill got the mortgage.â Summerlyn Garden was a big deal when it came out. Too bad she was just a kid then. But sheâd managed to snag one with some help, and now they were worth a fortune.
Sebastian just grinned and didnât call her bluff. He handed her his card. âHereâs my number. Holler if you need anything.â
Fiona took the card and out of the blue, âYou on WhatsApp, Mr. Quinn?â
That caught Sebastian a bit off guard. Heâd heard about it from Luther, his friend, but never really got into it. He mostly carried a simple cell phone that * wasnât dead after a day. He squinted a bit, âJust shoot me your ID. I look you up.â
Fiona saw him push over a pen and pad, âWrite it down!
She almost chuckled. No way he was on WhatsApp.
Sebastian looked puzzled at her reaction.
ona said nothing. She knew the dealâif Sebastian wanted to keep things hushâhush, she played along, no questions asked. She scribbled her number, sit me up with this. And seriously, thanks for everything today. I better head out.â She unfastened her seatbelt, hopped out, gave little wave, and strutted off to the building
Sebastian watched her go, the ghost of a smile fading from his .
Evan, the driver, did doubleâtake in the mirror. He shouted in his mind, âA smile? Mr. Quinn, smiling? That is news.â
âIâm moving in next door,â Sebastian said all of a sudden.
âNext door to a girl? That like Mr. Quinn at all. He always keeps his distance, especially from women. But there it is. Should it beâ¦? Yeah, it has to be that. Taking her out for some fancy grub, giving money and a big house? Itâs all the first time since I am with him!â Evan almost couldnât believe his ears. Containing the big grin spreading across his face, Evan , got it, boss.â This was big. His iceâcold boss was finally warming up. And he had to act fast. Nathanâs place was going to be perfect for the future Mrs. Quinn.
