Chapter 58 Jason couldnât help but wonder, âWhatâs her deal? Scratch that, whatâs she up to with Oliver? That tone of hers, itâs all too familiar. Every tim we get cozy, she pulls this kinda stuff!
So... âYouâre out here fooling around in broad daylight, ainât you got no shame!â
On the other end, Amanda was giving Sophia some acupuncture. She was about to text Luna about her momâs condition when Jasonâs call came through, and she accidentally picked up.
By some cosmic coincidence, Amanda stuck a needle right in Sophiaâs heart, and she let out a groan of pain. Then she heard the guy on the phone throwing insults, and the pain shot right up to her chest, making her grunt involuntarily a couple of times.
After a quiet spell, Jasonâs voice of shock and anger came back through the phone. âNo wonder you had a lawyer bringing divorce papers. youâre in a hurry to jump into someone elseâs bed. One ainât enough, huh? How many guys you want?â
Sophia squeezed the phone hard, the pain too much to bear. A bitter smile crossed her lips. âHe always thinks the worst of me. Fine, let him keep on thinking that. Iâm beat up and bruised, he should suffer too, fairâs fair. So she said, âYeah, Iâm running low on men, desperate as can be. Iâll be adding more to the list in the future. If you donât wanna be a cuckold, sign the divorce papers, pronto.â
âIn your dream!â Jason sounded like heâd lost his marbles, yelling into the phone. âYou think you can just waltz outta this marriage and into someone elseâs arms? Delusionalâ
Sophia smirked and sighed, âWell, tough luck. Gonna have to put up with it a bit longer. Dealing with betrayalâs just part of the packageâ
or something.
âYou...â There was a crash on the other end, probably him smashing a coffee cup or Sophia thought, Jason, oh Jason, you are feeling embarrassed by betrayal too? When I was pregnant and found out my days were numbered, scared out of my wits, you left me high and dry, like I was being stabbed a thousand times. You should feel that kind of pain too.â
âIf thatâs all, Iâm hanging up. Got important stuff to take care of.â She laid it on thick with the âimportant stuffâ bit, and she could hear him slamming something in the background.
Sophia thought secretly, âHowâs it feel to have your dignity dragged through the mud?
Just as she was about to hang up, Jasonâs cold voice came through again, âYou got half an hour. Get to the Wilson Group, or Iâll show you what it means to...â
Before he could finish, Sophia cut him off. She totally thought heâd blow her phone up, but after a while of silence, it was clear sheâd hurt his ego. Maybe this would finally get her the divorce she wanted.
Amanda, hunched low by the bedside, shot Sophia a glance and, with a practiced flick of her wrist, plunged another needle into her body. âYou ainât worried heâs gonna go off the deep end and come after you?â
Sophia shook her head, a bitter smile twisting her lips. âHe was ice cold to me,â she muttered softly, âwhy would he go crazy for me? Thanks for still being willing to save me, Amanda.â
Amanda sighed softly, her gaze dropping to Sophiaâs belly. âIf you find a heart,â she said, trying to be persuasive, âthink about getting rid of the baby. Staying alive was more important than anything else.â
Sophia met Amandaâs eyes, sincerity etched on her face. She smiled, aware that most of this likely was sympathy, but it meant the world to 1/2 INSTALL Chapter 59 her. Maybe it had been too long since she felt cared for, because even the smallest kindness brought warmth. Not wanting to reject her friendâs offer, she nodded with a grateful smile. âSure thing. III find the right heart, Iâll say goodbye to the baby and fight to stay aliveâ
Jason slammed his phone down with a thud. Even after venting his anger, the fury simmered in his chest. He squeezed his eyes shut, clenching his jaw. âGet me proof of Corey Taylor stealing our company secrets,â he commanded.
Eric, bewildered and trembling, asked, âWhat is your plan, sir?â
