Narrator's pov

"You flirt alot, you know that?" the girl raised her brow
"Then let's stop flirting and make it a reality" Ember smirked
"Never" The blonde chuckled, slinging her guitar back over her shoulder
The two girls adjusted themselves as they stood from the concrete ground where they had been stacked on top of each other like lettuce and pickles in a burger
"What are you even doing up this early?" Gabrielle questioned
"I have classes in an hour, I like to grab something on the way"
"Is that a daily thing?"
"Yes, if you haven't noticed we go to the same coffee shop?" Ember chuckled
The two girls started their stroll down the sidewalk with Gabrielle holding her now dented bike to her side and she pushed it while Ember stood by her side, her eyes never leaving the girl's side profile
The blonde could feel Ember's eyes on her, making her squirm from the tinted shade appearing on her cheek and the heat pulling through
"Why are you even up this early?"
"I'm more of a morning person, I like to ride through the park in the morning before I head to the coffee shop"
"Is that where you're heading?" Ember asked
"Yes"
"Then I'll come with you" She grinned but Gabrielle raised a brow instead
"Now why would you think I want you there?"
"Because you can't go a day without me" Ember smirked
"I've been living my life without you for 19 years" Gabrielle stated
"Exactly. And look where that's gotten you. Single. Let's change that, shall we?" the brunette smirked
The singer couldn't contain the bubbly feeling climbing in her stomach as she tilted her head back in laughter
"That was... "
"Smooth, yes. But my tongue is better" Ember stated
"And there you go and ruin it"
"Are you sure I ruined it?"
"Yes"
"Sometimes tells me you think about it alot" Ember smirked, lightly brushing her shoulder against the girl's
"Why would you think that?"
"Because you're blushing"
"Wha- no I'm not!" the blonde said, knowing damn well she was feeling that burning sensation on her cheek that she was trying to contain
Ember chuckled softly before she looked away from the girl, knowing her eyes on her was probably making her uncomfortable
Little did she actually know-
"Davis" the blonde said
"What?" Ember questioned
"We've known each other for a little while and I still haven't told you my last name" The blonde chuckled
"Gabrielle Davis"
"Yes"
"It's a pretty name"
"Thank yo-"
"Should be Gabrielle Atkins" Ember smirked, cutting the girl off
The blonde's lips curled into a small smile as she shook her head, trying to glance away far as possible from the girl
Fresh sunlight illuminated perfect spheres of water upon its fine green wands. With the chorus of the birds above passing over the two girls that giggled at them. The starting of a chill day felt as if it had a touch of magic, as if anything could happen
Bikers passed them down the concrete path they walked on through the park for their training. A few runners jogged by and gave a small wave as they continued on their journey
Gabrielle rested her bike against the familiar tree she usually had her set up. Ember lingered behind
"What makes you so confident?" Gabrielle questioned, walking towards the small pond near the bank of the grass
"Why do you think I am?" Ember asked
"You seem so sure of everything you say"
"Because I know what I want" Ember mumbled, joining the girl on the ground
They sat there in the late summer, the grass moving in steady waves, those long heads of golden seed as calming as harbour waves
There was something about it, their movement synchronized yet independent, their hues so close yet unique
And while they danced in that way, came the song of the chirps of birds content to be warmed by gentle rays so blessed to have and feeling the inner joy of anticipating the autumn colours
"And what's that?" The blonde asked
Ember's smile was one of happiness growing, much as a spring flower opening as she turned to head to face the blonde. It was just a simple smile but there was only one thought on Gabrielle's mind when she saw it. It was beautiful.
Gabrielle was beautiful in all of the classical ways, the flowing golden stands and ivory skin of a goddess in Ember's eyes. Her piercing eyes of light green that looked like the lightest shade of gold. She was shorter than average and certainly larger than a catwalk model, but in her ordinariness she was stunning. Something radiated from within that rendered her irresistible to both everyone, especially Ember
"You" Ember answered
The singer couldnât find her voice. She felt her cheeks flushed hot, and her stomach filling heavy. Her heart pounded in her throat, threatening to break out as Ember's eyes wandered around over her own. Her's stayed locked on her
How many love songs had she sang that said, âyou take my breath awayâ? Now that line made a lot of sense
Ember noticed that Gabrielle's emotions were not easily hidden on her innocent face. Her blush was evident in the crease of her gentle cheek and the curve of her full lips. But her eyes, those eyes showed her soul. They were a deep pool of restless gold
As she looked into her eyes she knew, all the beauty of the universe could not even hope to compete with one simple thing, passion
Passion turned her eyes into orbs of the brightest fire, and in them she could read clearly
At this point she found it so amusing to torture the blonde. She'd been so easy to tease, especially when she was oblivious to everything she was even saying
But little did she know what was going on in Gabrielle's mind. Her voice, her face, the curve of her lips and shoulder muscles were all her brain would dwell on. Her appetite dwindled, her practice for singing suffered, she began to blush whenever Ember looked her way
"You're really beautiful" Ember whispered
The blonde's hot cheeks burned even more as she squeezed her nails into her palm to keep her self from exploding into tiny red pieces
Seeing Ember made her heart twirl. Hearing her voice made her stomach flutter and as much as she hated to admit it, it was true. She couldn't help but feel this way about the annoying, flirty brunette
Her eyes, those deep green eyes that could tell a whole story just by looking at them. And the way she moved. She trots along, effortlessly looking beautiful without knowing how incredible she was. Gabrielle could stop to look at her and admire her perfection
She even imagined Ember's hands brushing against her own hand as they walked down the pathway
She was her heaven and when she was around her, Gabrielle felt as if she just died inside
So when she turned her head to face Ember, she didn't expected to feel that intense flutter in her stomach when she felt the girl's body so close to her own
Ember's lips were just a touch away from her own, her deep hot breath lingering over her own as her eyes stayed on Gabrielle's soft rose lips
"Kiss me"
