"Oh-" The girl muttered when she noticed she was in the middle of a crowd
Bodies surrounded them in a circle as they all held a wide smile, some swayed gently to the sound of the girl's voice while others bopped their heads up and down
But the crowd was a little too big for Ember's liking, especially since there were more people taller than her which blocked her view of the girl that was actually singing
But despite it all, her smile still rose even wider, maybe at the fact that she was even closer towards the singer so that she could hear every clean run and warm tone in the girl's voice
"When you're on a holiday, You can't find the words to say. All the things that come to you And I want to feel it too" the voice sang so softly as if it was afraid to raise a bit higher to ruin its gentleness
Ember closed her eyes and took a deep breath in at the feeling that was tugging on her heartstrings
It had been a while since she had heard that song.
Something inside her felt different when she heard the girl's voice, almost as if the sun had rose, casting the trees in their virescent hues and bringing the warm brown tones back to the earth inside of her veins
She felt something new. It was as if invisible holes were poked in her skin during that moment and all of her tension leeched out. Her steps felt lighter and she tilted her face toward the brilliant voice coming from upfront. It brought back memories of her childhood, it had been such a long time since she had heard the song
A time when her toes wiggled in the tiny sand particles, watching the waves come in and wash away the messy sand scattered on her feet. The way her father's hand was warm in her palm as he lightly tugged on hers, walking along the side of the beach with one side of his headphones in while she wore the other, the familiar song blasting through her eardrums while they walked along the shore, watching the ball of sunshine fade behind the horizon and what was once blue water became ink black liquid yet still clear. Her father's deep voice boomed when he chuckled at her tiny pout when missing the sight of the sun she deemed so beautiful
It was a feeling she would never forget, a time when all of her worries didn't matter and a time where she felt at peace and safe. Which is why she felt those exact nostaglic emotions run through her when she heard the mysterious girl singing from across the park lawn
"On an island in the sun, We'll be playin' and havin' fun"
Her voice was smooth and clear and quiet yet powerful. Soothing, in a way. A voice so beautiful, It was the promise of tomorrow. It was beautiful, and Ember wished that she would never stop
She hadn't even realized that she was pushing through the crowd, the audience gave her a look of disgust as she shoved past their shoulders but Ember didn't care, her mind was only on one thing and one thing only
Seeing the face of the person behind that voice
"And it makes me feel so fine, I can't control my brain"
Ember's heart started to race again, each beat getting a bit faster as she came closer towards the front of the crowd, just a few more pushes was all she needed and she would be home free
"When you're on a golden sea, you don't need no memory, just a place to call your own, as we drift into the zone"
Ember's heart finally reached full potential and stopped right then and there when her eyes landed on the girl who held a guitar, strumming it slowly
Her eyes, her eyes showed her soul. They were a deep pool of restless gold, an ocean. It was the first thing that caught Ember's attention and it seemed as if the singer also caught hers
The singer's eyes narrowed only towards Ember's, a small smile started to pull onto the girl's face as she stared at Ember. For a second, just one second, she swore the girl lost her balance just looking at her
But the singer continued her song, her eyes still captured on Ember's as her fingers pricked at the strings
Ember looked into her eyes and knew, all the beauty of the universe could not even hope to compete with this simple thing, passion
Passion turned her eyes into orbs of the brightest fire, and in them Ember read clearly. Passion that made her beautiful
Her tall frame and slender body were like of a Victoria secret model. Her golden eyes, like the earth mixed with melted gold were calm. Her short, straight blonde hair, so smooth and silky, almost as if it was tailored from gold fabric
"On an island in the sun, We'll be playin' and havin' fun" the girl sang
But with Ember's eyes on her, she seemed to smile even wider as she sang, almost as if a switch was flipped and her soul was ready to be poured out
"And it makes me feel so fine, I can't control my brain" She smiled during her verse
The woman that stood on the grounds with a mic to her mouth and a guitar slung over her chest was one that could grace any billboard or magazine cover, but she was better than those two dimensional photoshopped models
There was a shyness to her in her eyes but she sang with such confidence, yet Ember still picked up on that shyness, hesitation in her body movements the second her eyes landed on Ember and a softness in her voice
Her t shirt was balled up and tied in the center where her guitar rested, her blue jeans hugged her curves tightly and gave her flat, toned stomach such an attractive appearance
She was right there, only a feet away, but in her understated glamour she might as well be on the television or a girl in a pop video
Her hand went to her heart and her head rose as she belted out the final notes
The crowd around her cheered on as she brought her hands away from the guitar, giving those an appreciative smile while a few dropped some change into her open guitar case on the ground near her feet
"Thank you so much for listening but unfortunately that was my final song" The girl chuckled as she hooked her guitar strap from her shoulder
A few 'awws' or sounds of whining came from the supporters who obviously seemed like they wanted more but they weren't rowdy and decided to respect the girl's word
The crowd that was once screaming decided it was time for them to move away, seeing that the show had ended
The singer started to unhook her mic from its stand, the crowd of people had faded away yet there standing in the same spot was Ember with a raised brow
Her eyes travelling down the girl's body, almost as if she was taking a mental photograph with her eyes
"You're being a creep" Fallon chuckled
"She's..."
"Beautiful, yeah I know"
"Fuck she's hot. I wonder if she-"
"No and no"
"What do you mean?" Ember questioned
"She's not gay and she's not single" Fallon sighed
"You asked?"
"I... May have... Tried to... Shoot my shot" he chuckled
"So she's taken?" Ember furrowed her brows
"I mean.. Look at her, who's the dumbass that would let her roam around single?" Fallon chuckled
"You sure she's taken or she only told your Ratatouille looking ass that so you'd back away" Ember smirked
The boy's mouth widened before he dramatically gasped
"How dare you" he pouted
"I guess there's only one way to find out"
"Wait-"
"Oh yes"
"NO. don't tell me you're going to go ask that girl out"
"Maybe" Ember smirked
"Ember. Do. Not. Go over there. And embarrass yourself"
"Pride is a myth" Ember smirked, glancing over towards the girl again and feeling her smile widen at the sight
"You know what. Pain and dissapointment changes people, go right ahead young one but don't say uncle Fallon didn't warn you" The boy crossed his arms over his chest
"Watch me return with two numbers" Ember chuckled
"Two numbers?" the boy questioned
"Hers and her boyfriend's so I can call and tell him she's no longer interested" Ember smirked
"Cocky. I love it. Go ahead" Fallon chuckled, motioning with his chin towards the girl that was ready to sling her guitar back over her shoulder and leave
Ember took a deep breath in, the type that lifted her onto the tip of her toes with her hands shoved in her pockets
"Here goes nothing" she mumbled before chewing on her bottom lip
The singer was standing just a feet away from her but those few steps Ember was taking felt like a journey to the mysterious island
Her foot felt heavy with every step, her heart rate increasing as she came closer and closer towards the girl that seemed to make time stop with just one glance
Ember stood behind the girl that was on the ground flipping her guitar case closed, her shadow ghat casted over the blonde seemed to pull her attention since she glanced up at Ember
"Hi" The singer chuckled
It was just three seconds but Ember swore she had melted into a puddle from just that tiny chuckle. The girl's heart felt like it had exploded in her chest into a million confetti pieces
"H-Hi. Shit. Sorry I didn't mean to scare you or anythin-"
"You didn't scare me dear" The blonde chuckled again
Ember had to fold her fist tightly, sinking her nails into her palm as she tried to contain her emotions that kept fluttering inside her again
"I uh... I liked your show" Ember mumbled
"Oh, you're the girl that started pushing through the crowd?" The blonde questioned
Ember chuckled softly, bringing her hand to lightly scrape the nape of her neck, feeling her cheeks starting to turn a light shade of pink from embarrassment
Oh how her confidence had dropped just being in the presence of the girl, Fallon would be rolling on the floor right now
"Sorry about that, I just.."
Come on Ember, now's the perfect time to slide on some moves
"-I just needed see the face to that impressive voice"
...alright that's.. Something, we can work with that
The blonde chuckled softly as she brought herself back up, this time she wasn't a few feet away from Ember
But she was standing just close enough to feel the girl's breath lingering on her lips
The blonde held a side smirk as she raised a brow, her golden eyes travelling over Emeber's body, falling low until they reached back up to her eyes again
Her arms were on her hips as she raised a brow at the brunette
"Oh? And were you.. Impressed?"
"I was more than impressed when my eyes landed on you" Ember mumbled
Ooooh that's a smooth bitch right there. I just KNOW her strap big
The blonde shook her head smiling as she started to step away from the brunette, lowering her body to collect her belongings
Ember furrowed her brows when the girl had stepped away, worrying at what she had done wrong
"Are you flirting with me?" The singer chuckled
"How could I not flirt with a beautiful girl when I see one?" Ember raised a brow, taking a step closer towards the girl
The blonde shook her head smiling once again, bringing her guitar strap over her shoulder
But the second she has turned around, Ember's chest was already pressed against her own
The blonde's back had collided against the bark of the tree behind her while Ember's arm pressed to the side of her head, The singer clutched her guitar to her side while a bright blush made its way onto her cheek
"But I'm not available, I'm sorry" The singer chuckled
"Are you?" Ember raised a brow
"I- y-yes"
"Guess that means I can't take you on a date?" Ember gave a small pout with a teasing meaning behind it
"I.. I guess so" The blonde's cheek was still burning pink at the fact that her body was so close against another
"I have a feeling you're lying"
"Wh-why would I lie?" She giggled
"Because you weren't interested in my dumbass friend over there" Ember nodded to the direction of the boy a few feet away
"Fallon, I remember him. He was actually really sweet"
"But?"
"But... I wasn't interested" The singer chuckled
"See, I knew it"
"Now, I didn't say I was single"
"You didn't say you weren't either"
"Oh-"
"Trouble in paradise?"
"Now why would I tell you that?"
"Because I'm trying to pick up the pieces where his dumbass left off" Ember chuckled
"Smooth"
"My words are but there's other parts of me you found explore and find out if it's smooth" Ember mumbled, her eyes landing into golden orbs
The singer's cheeks started to glow heavier as she hung her head to avoid piercing eyes
"Okay you've caught me. I'm actually not taken" She mumbled
"I knew it-"
"But I'm straight"
