The unknown: Did you really?
Emstar: Yes. Yes I did
The unknown: oh my God ð
Emstar: The best part was, it was a Shrek fanfic
The unknown: no fucking wayyy
Emstar: it was good ngl
The unknown: so when can I see you?
Ember held her phone between her fingertips and pressed hard on the edges
She didn't expect their conversation to lead into anything else. If anything, she assumed that they were just having fun and goofing off with their dumb and cringy texts
Guess she was wrong
So was she going to take another step? Meet the girl and see where it leads her to?
"Fuck it" Ember muttered under her breath
But the second she was going to reply, her phone flashed a bright colour and gave a vibration she was accustomed to from other objects
"You've got to be kidding me" Ember scoffed when she saw the number pop up on her phone
"What?" she asked
"What the hell did I just hear about from the Dean!?" The woman hissed
"I'm surprised you even had the time to answer your phone" Ember mumbled
"Why were you making a fool out of yourself!"
"Because you gave birth to one. Ask yourself why you made me" Ember shrugged
"Don't play smart with me Ember"
"I don't have to-"
"Ember!"
"What!"
"Alright- guys come on" Another voice came from the other end of the phone
"Dad?" the girl asked
"Hey sweetie, how's it going?"
"I'm confused on why you're calling me" Ember said
"That's okay hunny, we actually wanted to talk to you-"
"The Professor was being an ass-"
"No no. Not that" the man chuckled
"Where are you?"
"Walking home, why?"
"We're actually meeting someone in the park but they left. Are you busy? Can you come talk to us?" The man asked
Ember furrowed her brows at her phone. Why would her parents come all the way to the park to meet someone when they could have met them in their office
Hell, what could they possibly want to talk to her about
"Yeah, sure" she muttered
"Great, we'll see you then" the man said
Ember ended the call and slipped her phone into her pocket, breathing out deeply as she glanced behind her
The park wasn't that far away from her apartment building either way but she was drained of energy to walk
"Eh em" A voice came from behind
The girl closed her eyes and inhaled deeply before turning to face the man
"Ofcourse you're here" Ember chuckled
"Your father sent me for you ma'am" the man smiled, sliding open the car door
"Haven't seen you in a while" She said, heading over towards the car
"I've been around ma'am, hiding behind trees" he laughed
"Oh I know. You could have said hello you know? Instead of sneaking around behind trees when I go for a walk. How did you even get into my college?" she asked
"That's a question I can't answer ma'am" The bodyguard smiled, slipping into the driver's side
Ofcourse her father would have his driver sent for her, which only meant that he prepared these plans ahead of time
The man started the car on their journey but Ember couldn't stop thinking about what it is that her parents would come all the way to the park for. it definitely must have been serious, and who were they meeting there anyways?
"Do you know what he wants?" she asked
"Ms, you know I never listen to your parents conversations"
"Stop the cap" Ember narrowed her eyes, making the man chuckle a bit
"Alright, what I do know is that they were meeting a few people to sign to the hospital. I don't know who or what they do, I just know that they'll be apart of something in there"
Ember nodded her head as she fell back into deep thoughts of her sus parents who needed to be voted out
The drive over wasn't that long but it still gave Ember enough time to think about what she was walking into
Was it an ambush? Were they going to try again to bring her onto the board? Did they pack dinner?
"I'll see you around Ms Atkins" the girl's bodyguard mumbled after slipping out his side of the car, heading over to open the passenger side
"I'll see you around Mark" She smiled
The wind whistled through the crisp fallen leaves, fluttering them around her feet as she truffled through the dirt path leading to the fresh green grass of the park
The familiar giggles and screams filled the area with children holding their bubble blowers high in the air and the dick blowers-
I mean, their mothers-
Running behind them so that they wouldn't get far away
Ember's eyes glanced around the park in search of her parents, but as time went by she started to get annoyed
"Could have been home sinking into my mattress but noooo. They just had to-" The girl's thoughts were cut off by a small voice in the distance
"EMBER" the person yelled once again
It was the sound of her father, she'd recognize his voice anywhere even if she barley heard it throughout her life. Atleast it was more than her mother, the woman only spoke to her when she was trying to threaten her life for staining their family name once again
Hell, she knew she was going to get an earful in a few seconds again
The man grinned as he approached her while her mother fell behind with a blank stare in her eyes and a scowl on her face, disgusted by the sight of her own daughter
Damn, I guess Ember and I have alot in common-
"Hi dad" the girl smiled, feeling the warm and steady hands of her father wrap around her back as he pulled her closer
"Ember, it's been so long" He said, pulling away
"I wonder why's that" she mumbled
Immediately, the guilt took over his face and turned red. The man's hands sunk into his pockets and he rocked on the tip of his toes and looked away, avoiding the dissapointing lecture from his daughter
"You know how hectic it is with those work hours" he mumbled
"I know. But I do know a phone exists" Ember said
He man felt a small sting in his heart, knowing it was true. Perhaps that sting will grow into the feeling of a bullet through his chest to cover the guilt of him not putting effort into his own daughter
Felt that ngl
"I'm sorr-"
"I don't need apologies. Get to the point" she said
"Oh- well your mother and I have something to discuss with you" He said
"What's this about?" She asked
The man's smile rose even higher as he intertwined his fingers with his wife, bringing her forward. The woman's dead glare still remained on her face as she ran her eyes up and down Ember's body, taking in every section of her dissapointment and failures she did as a mother
This Lil bitch- SEND THE ADDY
But Ember's attention wasn't caught on the woman that called herself 'mother' but instead, her eyes widened when she heard the next few words of her father
"We'd like to sign you to the board"
