Narrator's pov
-
Most people enjoyed the bright sunshine in the morning, as golden as butter to a hot skillet. The blue sky saturating the eyes with white clouds on the side like eggs with toast
But for Ember, her perfect start to the day is the deafening sounds of rain bashing against the pavement, trickling down her window and filling the world with its glory
Ember whistled in her apartment as she tossed her brown scarf over her shoulder, adjusting the long light brown trench coat she had. The girl's golden pendant rested on her black cropped turtleneck
A smile was on her lips that hadn't left since her crush admitted her feelings for her
Some of y'all frowning all y'all lives huh?
A little hop to her step and her lips curled to the side, she was ready to start her day knowing that someone in this world was thinking about her
And that she was the reason someone was smiling
The girl hopped down the steps while she swung her umbrella around her wrist
"Rain in the sky, you know how I feel" the brunette sang, hooking her fingers around the doorknob and pulling it wide open
"Birds flying high, you know. How I feel" She sang again, bringing the umbrella to her lips as a substitute for a microphone
"BREAAAATTHHEEEE. It's a new dawn. It's a new day. It's a new life for meeee" she sang, her eyes shut closely as her knees bent
"And I'm feeling" she sang, her fingers ran through her hair as she flipped her head backwards, allowing her hair to flow over her back
"Gooooood" She smoothed out, correcting her knees straight but still holding her umbrella to her lips as she bend her head backwards
Her own little concert in the rain on the sidewalk, her spirits were high and nothing was going to bring them down
Not even the bitch ass parents she had that manipulated her into taking up a seat on the board
"Okay Lesvis, I see you" a voice said
Ember's eyes shot wide open to the voice, startling her that she fell backwards
Gabrielle chuckled lightly as she rested her bicycle to the wall and walked over to give a hand to the brunette who collapsed on the ground
"How long were you standing there?" Ember questioned
"Um... To save your dignity, let's say five seconds ago" Gabrielle chuckled, pulling the girl back up to her feet
"I don't trust that" She glared
"Your lyrics were wrong-"
"Okay yeah I believe you" Ember laughed
Gabrielle shook her head smiling before returning over to her bike
The two girls couldn't control themselves, their smiles were even brighter when running into each other
The soft drizzle of the rain above came down on Gabrielle who was already soaking wet, her hair was floppy while the drops trickled down the side of her face
Ember chuckled as she opened the umbrella and brought it over both of their heads
Gabrielle had her bicycle to the side of her waist as she walked alongside the girl
It was like something out of a first crush fantasy. Both of their cheeks were stained red while their eyes avoided each other
The smiles on their faces were bright enough to light a torch but their little awkward glances made it even more adorable
"H-hi" Ember started
"Hi" the blonde giggled
"So..."
"So"
"Funny running into you this early"
"Or was it planned? Hmm" Gabrielle hummed
"Was it?"
"Maybe, maybe not"
"Where you heading to?" Ember asked
"The coffee shop" Gabrielle grinned
Oh no.
Ember's smile slowly faded a bit when she realized what trouble laid ahead at the joyful little coffee shop she knew
"Everything okay?" Gabrielle questioned
"Yes ma'am"
"You looked a little lost there"
"Lost in your eyes? Yes" Ember smirked
"Oh- oh my god" the blonde tilted her head back giggling
"Wasn't expecting that"
"Wasn't expecting me to come into your life and make you question everything either but here I am babygirl" Ember smirked once again
"Oh my God-"
"Yes I had you moaning that"
"EMBER"Â Gabrielle chuckled
"That too-"
"EMBER" the girl busted out laughing
"Don't ware it out-"
"At this point, I don't know what to do with you" The blonde shook her head smiling
The energy around them was nothing far from perfect, there was just one thing missing
Ember glanced down, their fingers were barley brushing against each other as they walked down the sidewalk
She didn't know whether to intertwine their fingers or not, crossing the line or pushing the girl too far so early was not what she wanted
But it was killing her inside to not have Gabrielle in her arms every second of the day
Gabrielle then suddenly came to a halt, her body shifted to face the brunette
But to her surprise, warm fingers slipped against her palm and wrapped around them, creating such a spark within her veins that left her silent
Her eyes reached up again to stare into those golden crust orbs who had a giggle in her throat
"You're really beautiful Ember" The girl whispered
The brunette inhaled deeply, a rush of static pulsating through her body knocked all of the wind out of her lungs
The girl wasn't accustomed to hearing those words, despite being breathtakingly beautiful. Most people were either intimated or afraid to be in her presence because of her fashion style or the resting bitch face
The few friends she had made her feel good inside
But hearing those words from the girl she was falling, it was something else
"I've never said it enough but I surely will. You are so goddamned beautiful Ember, it feels suffocating to look at you sometimes. Every second that my eyes glance over you, it just takes my breath away" Gabrielle whispered
Her palm reached up to gently cup the girl's cheek
They didn't care if the rain was pounding above them or if joggers were in the streets staring
All that mattered was the two girls who lost themselves in each other's eyes, in each other's hearts and in each other's words
Lips touched and sparks egnited, shaky breaths were taken to calm their nerves. Ember's bottom lip trembled at the feeling of the girl's soft lips on her own
She'd never get accustomed to the feeling, but she surely wasn't going to complain
Every kiss, how little or how passionate will always feel like the first, Ember was sure of it
It was a kiss that made her weak, inside and out. The weakness started to travel through her body, reaching her wrists and making her lower the umbrella
Rain or sun didn't matter, she'd allow hell itself to burn her yet she wouldn't pay attention. Having Gabrielle so close was the only thing she could ever focus on
What was this feeling, it was something so powerful yet fearful at the same time
Little did Ember know that she was falling
Not off a cliff but she was falling into something she'd never touched
But she could only hope that Gabrielle was there to catch her
Because we all know
Falling in love again is the sweetest yet scariest thing to a person who's been broken into so many pieces that it was almost impossible to fix again
