I hate Mondays.

I mean, why would I wanna get up in the morning, just to go to school, especially on a Monday morning? Yeah wait, for education. As my dad likes to put it.

I would rather sleep throughout the day and go on a drive late at night, alone - as the harsh and cool wind blew against my hair. And now I'm day dreaming.

The shrill and irritating sounds coming from my alarm woke me up early in the morning. Ever since, I've been a ball of sunshine. Please note the heavy sarcasm.

"Lydia, wake up now. You only have 40 minutes before school starts," My dad's head pops through the door. Just like always. And then he leaves.

"Thanks for the reminder, dad," I reply, even though there's no one in the room except for me.

I slip out of my bed, my hair sticking up in all the direction, resembling a bird's nest. They are stubbornly tangled to each other. I rake a brush through my hair, trying my best to not hurt my scalp during the process. Since I forgot to dry my hair after my shower last night, they have decided to gang up against me. Once I know it's somewhat presentable, I head towards the bathroom and take a shower as fast as possible.

I slip into casual yet something different clothing today, courtesy of my first day which consists of a plain white top underneath a denim dungaree dress. Feeling satisfied, I slip into some casual white vans and pick my backpack and leave my room.

As I head downstairs, I hear a voice humming. A female voice, to be exact. Confused, I run downstairs to solve the mystery.

As soon as I enter the kitchen, I come across a lady, busy with something. Her back is to me so I cannot see what she looks like but she looks old, considering her slightly grey hair. Maybe in her 50's or something. Right, she must be Martha.

"Excuse me?" I ask in order to gain her attention.

She gasps which causes the utensil in her hand to fall on the island. When she recovers, she turns around, placing her hand on her heart," Jeez kid, you tryna dig up my early grave or something?"

I chuckle at that, "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."

"It's alright. Just next time, give me a warning before you try to kill me, okay?" She narrows her eyes at me in a teasing manner. "By the way, I'm Martha. I'll be cooking for you poor fellas and cleaning the house too."

"Yeah, I figured," I smile at her. She's sweet.

"Now come on, I have pancakes ready. You like chocolate chip?" she asks, while placing a plate stacked with delicious looking pancakes in front of me.

"Who doesn't?" I reply. Pulling out a stool from the bar island, I plop on it and begin devouring the pancakes. "Mmmh. I'm in love. These are so damn good."

"Thanks kiddo," She grins at me, her eyes tender and warm.

"So, do you know about my dad's whereabouts?" I ask her, keeping the conversation flowing.

"Yeah, he's in the backyard, feeding your dog." she tells me. "What was his name again? I kind of forgot!"

"His name's Whiskey," I mutter, mouth full with pancakes.

"Well, that's weird. Were you drunk when you came up with this name?" She chuckles, then walks around the kitchen island to take a seat on one of the bar-stools, right in front of me.

"Nope. Nothing like that." I laugh at the memory, then continue, "I came up with the name randomly when mom and dad first brought him home. We were just looking for names on Google when all of a sudden it struck in my mind and bam, we gave him the name Whiskey. Mom did not like the name that much but she agreed finally. It took me almost 2 hours to convince her. Mom did not even like dogs, but she got one for me, because I love them."

"Your mom sounds like a lovely woman." She voices out. Her tone softer than before.

"She was the best," I whisper, my eyes glossy with unshed tears. "She is the best."

"Good morning honey," My dad's voice breaks me out of my reverie. I turn around, to find him walking towards me with Whis hot on his trail. "Hello again, Martha."

"Good morning dad." I greet him and get up from my chair to meet Whis halfway.

He pounces on me as soon as I'm within his reach and starts licking my face, causing giggles to erupt from my mouth. "Hello to you too boy." I laugh and scratch his ears and fur. He gets off me and sits down on the floor, his head on my lap, a gesture to say, keep going.

"Come on Lydia, get up. Or you'll be late on your first day," dad says in a stern voice.

Who cares? I think. "Yes dad, I know. I'm ready." Is what I say. I don't want my dad to get angry. It's not a very good sight.

I sigh, pushing Whis' heat off my lap and stand up. I pick my car keys off the hook and give dad a hug. "Bye dad."

"It's your first day. So, please try staying out of trouble," He requests, putting his phone on the couch before give me a stern yet pleading look.

"No promises dad." I chuckle and pull away.

I park my car in the parking lot of the school premises and step out. Taking a deep breath I observe the surroundings. Hillcrest Academy looks just the same as I saw in the pictures I found on Google. The brick red building stands tall in front of me. It looks looks as if the building was renovated recently. The students stop and stare, looking at me as if I'm an alien. Does the fact that I'm a new student make me less of a human being than them?

At least this school has one benefit - only limited number of students since this school is a tad bit expensive.

The warm air hits my face, making my hair blow in all directions. I catch my breath once again and get going. I enter the school building, ready to get to the main office but get interrupted by a female voice.

"Hey new girl," A girl's cheerful voice reaches my ears. Ugh, how can someone be this happy in school?

I turn around to take a good look at the her. She has brown hair that reaches her shoulder, sea blue eyes and a pretty smile. Her outfit consists of an oversized Nirvana tee paired with ripped mom jeans and Jordans. Pretty.

"Are you talking to me?" I arch an eyebrow at her. Everyone around us has stopped, as if some kind of drama is going to start soon. Maybe she's that Typical Queen Bee of the school. She doesn't look like one though.

"Yes. Mrs. Betzing told me that there's a new girl in the school and I have to show her around," she announces, taking a few steps towards me. "Oh sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Erica Daniels, the Student Body President."

"I'm Lydia Herrington," I introduce myself, just because she seems polite and friendly. "So, you are here to help me?"

"Yeah, come on. Let's get your schedule from Mrs. Betzing, then I'll show you your classes. Hopefully we might have some together."

Together, we walk to Mrs. Betzing's office and I take my locker combination and the schedule from her. We walk towards my locker while I check my schedule to see that my first period is Calculus, with Mr. Derek Wales. Fucking hell. I'll definitely die today.

In the blink of an eye my schedule is ripped off from my hands. Erica starts checking my schedule and squeals when she sees my schedule. "We have Calculus, English, Biology and Performing Arts together," She claps her hands, all the while holding my schedule in her hand. "Wait till you see Mr. Wales girl. You'll die, I'm telling you," she whispers excitedly.

"Wait, why?" I mutter in confusion.

"He's like, the hottest teacher on Earth. I mean, he's only 24 and Jesus even though I have a boyfriend, I have a huge crush on him. Hell, everyone has a crush on him. Even the old teachers ogle him all the time," she giggles and takes my arm in her's. "Come on girlfriend, let's get going."

Arm in arm, we walk to my locker to keep my bag and take out only a notebook and my Calculus book from. After listening to Erica, I feel excited to study Calculus.

"Wait. Where are your things?" I ask her when I realize that she is empty handed.

"My stuff is already in the class."

"Oh. Okay," I nod. She stops in front of a classroom door and opens it with a bang. Everyone stops their work and turn their gaze on me. I ignore them and focus my attention on the teacher standing in front of the class. Holy shit, Erica was right. Mr. Wales is so hot, I might actually die. He stands 6 feet tall, with jet black eyes and a beautifully sculpted face. He is wearing a black polo shirt on dark blue jeans and has a smile plastered across his beautiful features.

From now on, calculus is my favourite subject.

"And, you might be Ms. Herrington, I presume?" His thick voice reaches my ears, pulling me out of my thoughts.

Before I can speak, a guy's voice interrupts. "Lydia Herrington, we meet again."

I turn towards the source of the voice and my smile grows when I see his face. Bruce.

"Mr. Cooper, silence." Mr. Wales speaks in a serious voice.

"Sorry Mr. Wales. Just got too excited to see an old friend after a long long time," he apologises, though he sounds anything but sorry. We met each other last night, at Target. But the dumbass is acting like we are childhood friends and are meeting after a very long time.

Mr. Wales ignores Bruce and shifts his attention towards me. "So, Ms. Herrington, introduce yourself and then you can take a seat."

"Hey guys, my name is Lydia, which is pretty obvious by now. I'm 17 and I moved here from Washington," I smile sweetly at the class and make my way to the seat at the very end, right next to Bruce, behind Erica.

"Okay, so class, today we'll be starting a new topic. We know...." Mr. Wales' voice trails off in the background because Bruce starts pestering me with a buttload of different questions.

"Hey Lydia, you didn't tell me that you would be coming to Hillcrest last night," he whispers quietly, but it is loud enough to catch Erica's attention. Her ears perk up at this and she turns around in her seat, calculus completely forgotten.

"Aww, look at that, baby Bruce finally getting some action," she remarks in a teasing manner, pinching his cheeks.

"Shut up Erica," he grumbles, glaring at her. The way they talk to each other shows that they are pretty close. "Where's that boyfriend of yours, huh? Go fuck him or something, stop bothering me."

"Shut up. You're just jealous that you don't have a girl-" Erica starts but I cut her off.

"Guys, stop fighting, you are being too loud," I tell them.

"Yeah, right." With that, Erica narrows her eyes at Bruce once and then looks in the front. Bruce rolls his eyes at her. I roll my eyes at both of them and concentrate on what Mr. Wales is teaching. Or you can say on his ass.

I place my things in my locker as it is lunch period now. Erica asked me to come straight to the cafeteria as she wanted me to meet her group of friends.

Shutting my locker with a bang, I turn around. As soon as I do that I collide with a figure. I look up to meet a pair of dark grey eyes and a guy's face.

"So, you're the new girl, huh?" He smirks at me. Great. High school drama begins. How much I love that shit.

"Yes. What do you want?" I mutter, not exactly paying attention.

"Nothing. Just wanted to see something. Everyone has been talking about this hot new girl in school." He shrugs, his eyes roaming all over my body like I'm a piece of meat. "I'm impressed."

"Good. Now step aside, I'm hungry," I roll my eyes at him.

"Not so fast babe. Why don't we take this to the Janitor's room?" He smirks at me.

"Get away from me, you asshole. I'm not interested in you," I place my hand on his chest to push him away but he takes hold of my wrist and traps me between his body and the locker. There's pin drop silence, probably because everyone's in the cafeteria right now.

"Come on babe, don't be like that. You know you want it."

"Step away from me," I say through gritted teeth, seething with anger. "Stop testing my patience."

"No one will know. I promise," He tries again, pushing up against me. That's it. I pull my right hand from his grip and punch him in the face. Once I hear the sound of bone cracking, I know I've done enough damage.

"You bitch, you broke my fucking nose," His hand immediately shoots up as he yelps loudly, his eyes blazing with anger. He cups his nose with his right hand.

"Mr. Jones and Ms. Herrington, in my office, now!" Principal's voice booms through the silent hallway. First day and I'm already being summoned to the principal's room.

Dad will be proud.
