Caden didnât say another word, cut off the contact with Mr. Garcia and dialed Graceâs phone number.
But no one answered. He frowned, called Jamesâ House and it didnât connect. In the end, he tried Jafar Jamesâ cell phone.
The call was connected right away, âMr. Shaw?â
âIs Grace with you?â Caden wasnât in the mood for chitchatting, all he cared about was finding Graceâs whereabouts.
âGrace?â Jafar asked surprisingly, âShe was here but she has just left.â
Caden said while thinking, âLeft? For how long? Who was with her?â
âIt was just a while ago, let me see. Well, about ten minutes. Miss Su drove the car and they left together. Is everything okay, Mr. Shaw? What happened? Is Grace okay?â Jafar stood up nervously and asked Caden on the other end of the phone.
Caden pulled a long face after hearing what he said, answered politely, âReally appreciate it, Mr.
James.â
He hung up the phone right after and dialed Gloriaâs cell.
After a busy tone, a robotic female voice was heard, âSorry, the phone you have dialed is power off.â
He looked dignified, refused to believe what he heard and kept redialing. But the result was the same as before.
Caden became more and more worried because Gloriaâs cellphone couldnât get through.
Maybe Gloriaâs phone ran out of battery or out of service. But situation like this never happened since she started working for him.
He squeezed his phone angrily and turned around suddenly. Exhaled a cold breath, he approached Sam the old butler, âWhat did grandpa want?â
Sam heard part of the conversation because he was right next to Caden just now. He assumed something was going on, butâ¦
âI donât follow, Mr. Shaw.â Sam asked with a puzzled look.
Caden sneered, âGrandpa getting sick was such a coincidence.â
âHow can you say something so unfilial?â Sam said in shock.
Caden didnât want to start up an argument, asked while he squinted, âWhere is she?â
âWho are you referring to as âsheâ?â
âStill playing dumb?â Caden stared at Sam as he stooped because of his old age, âTell me what grandpa did to her!â
âThis was just a big misunderstanding, Mr. Shaw. The old master is still in ICUâ¦â
âOh really? What a coincidence! Right after grandpa fell sick, Grace went missing.â
âMy apologies Mr. Shaw, I see that you are worried about Ms. James. I overheard what you said on the phone. Didnât Mr. James mention that she had just left? So she should be on her way back. Please donât worry and wait in patience. Ms. James will probably be back soon.â
Caden became more impatient, âI donât have time to waste, so listen carefully. âMs. Jamesâ is Grace James, my wife! It is written on the paper when we got married, she is Mrs. Shaw!â
If I hear Ms. James come from your mouth one more time, I will make your life miserable. I donât care how much grandpa adores you!â
âSo now, please tell me where my wife Grace Shaw is.â Gloria never turned off the phone unless sheâs on the plane. She knew him well, so her phone was always on.
But for the first time, her phone was off!
Grace never called him or mentioned going to Jamesâ house. She went there without telling him, but now the only person with her Gloriaâs phone was off. If grandpa werenât sent to ICU, or if Caden didnât see through his lies, Caden wouldnât be able to see the connections.
Grace went missing, The James Group, grandpa⦠what a coincidence!
The whole James family could be on grandpaâs side by now!
