Kern rushed to the Shawâs mansion.
âYou were behind it, werenât you?â
He shouted to Master Shaw who was enjoying a cup of tea.
âYou came here for no reason ⦠Is that how you treat your grandfather?â Master Shaw put down the cup. His face darkened.
âYou ordered Mr. Venus to do that, didnât you? Otherwise, Mr. Venus wouldnât dare to do that.â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âYou were behind Graceâs car accident, werenât you?â Kern was furious.
Master Shawâs face turned cold when he heard Graceâs name. âDo you want to go against your grandfather for her?â
âThat means â¦You admitted it.â
Kern clenched his fists. His body shivered in anger. âHow the hell did she provoke you?â
âEvery part of her is provoking me.â
âSheâs just a woman. How did she offend you? She could even call you grandfather. You watched her grow up. Why do you hate her so much and set her up?â
âDid I set her up?â
âDonât tell me you didnât set her up in Wallisâ death. Donât tell me you had nothing to do with it. You set her up back then. Now you even ordered Mr. Venus to create the accident. You just wonât stop messing with her, will you?
âI donât understand how the hell she provoked you! Why donât you stop?â
Master Shaw was enraged and smashed the cup. âHow did she provoke me? Every part of her is provoking me! Are you all seduced by her? I should have ruined her face so she couldnât seduce anyone!â
Kern couldnât believe his ears. âHow could you say that as a noble senior?
âSeduce?
âWhat a rude word!â
âAm I wrong?
âMy two grandsons have gone against me for her. Theyâve even given up the family business for her.
Sheâs a scourge. I shouldâve abandoned her when she was an infant! Then my two grandsons wouldnât lose themselves for her sake decades later!â
âInfant?â Kern heard something suspicious. âWhat are you talking about?â
Master Shaw sneered.
âIt doesnât matter what I say. What matters is that both of my grandsons are intrigued by her!
How could the offspring of the Shaw family throw themselves at a womanâs feet?
They should be ambitious, wise, and decisive. They should never be limited by a woman!â
âIs that your reason? Is that why you keep messing with her?â
âPrecisely. Thatâs why. Youâve both ignored the family business and spent all your energy on her. How could the offspring of the Shaw family act like this?â
Master Shaw looked cruel. âI tell you what, she was only lucky this time!â
He was implying this was far from the end.
Kern took a deep breath in fear.
âWhat else do you want?â
âWhat else do I want? First of all, I want you to do what you should as an offspring of the Shaw family!
We donât value romances!â
Kern was furious, but he couldnât do anything to the old man in front of him.
Kern couldnât protect Grace forever. If Master Shaw kept messing with her, something bad would happen to her sooner or later.
His body trembled in rage. After a long while, he released his clenched fists like a defeated rooster.
âIf ⦠I donât get in touch with her from now on, will you stop hurting her?â
Master Shaw would have said âOf course notâ. But when he saw the plea in Kernâs eyes, he raised his eyebrows.
âSure. One of my grandsons is already hopeless.
âIf you donât care about her anymore, I wonât hurt her again. You have my word.â
Kern took a deep look at the old man and said with great determination, âYou must keep your word.â
âI always keep my word.â
Kern nodded. âThis is the last time. If I live by your plan and do what you want, but you still did something to her, then I will ⦠You will die alone.â
He was bidding farewell to Master Shaw.
A trace of displeasure flashed in Master Shawâs eyes, but he still nodded. âAlright.â
â¦
In the hospital.
An unexpected figure showed up in the VIP ward today.
âLet him in.â
The man in the ward ordered.
The door opened, and an equally outstanding man entered.
âYouâre quite well-informed.â
The man in the bed said with his pale lips curled up coldly.
âI have my source of information. No matter how well you hide, you canât guarantee that your people will not reveal themselves.â
The man curled his lips and chuckled. âYou donât have to covet the Shaw Group so anxiously. When Iâm dead, the Shaw Group will be yours.â
The man found a chair to sit on and said, âBullshit. Youâll pass on all your possessions to her when youâre dead.â
He didnât say who âsheâ was, but the eyes of the man in the bed lit up.
âYou know me quite well.â
âNo, no, no.â The visitor waved his index finger.
âItâs just I saw Mr. Bennet, the lawyer, walking out of the hospital the other day.
âYou hired Mr. Bennet to serve you and the Shaw Group.
âHe was holding a briefcase and Ladd was following him. Theyâre your people. I reckon they didnât come here to see a doctor, did they?â
âIs that how you found me?â
Though it was a question, it was obvious that he had confirmed his guess.
âI used some connections to find out that you divorced her.
âI couldnât think of any reason for you to do that.
âBack then, you were so unwilling to let her go. You used all your means and even pretended to be mad. You did so many shameless things.
âI didnât believe you would ever divorce her.
âThen I dug a little deeper and found out.â
âYou are quite capable.â
âI canât compare with you.
âEven when youâre about to die, thereâs no news about your status heard outside. No one inside the group knows it.
âEven the old man in the mansion doesnât know.
âTell me, if I were to reveal your imminent death to the old man, do you think he would shed a few crocodile tears?â
âHe will take down the Shaw Group while shedding some crocodile tears. He might sweep my grave and recall me when he has time.â
The visitor laughed to tears at his words. âYou know him well.â
âOf course.â The man in the bed curled his lips coldly.
âBut I guess you sent for Mr. Bennet not just to handle the divorce. No, it would be a waste of his ability.
I guess you made a will to leave all your possessions to her upon your death.
âIt looks like the old man is going to have an empty wish.
âIâd better not tell him.
âOr he may die from a stroke as he finds his efforts in vain.â
âI didnât know you were so obedient.â
