I woke up to laughter all throughout the apartment
I sat up in my bed & looked around
"Where's Erin" I heard someone ask
"In that room she never comes out of" my mom said

"You know how teenagers are now & days she's probably real tired" my auntie savannah said amouras mom
"Her & amoura be sleeping like they work a fucking 12 hour shift" amoura's dad Jacob said
They all laughed
I rolled my eyes & got up outta bed
I picked out my outfit I was going to wear to grandmas house because it's thanksgiving & we eat over there all the time.
I snuck to the bathroom & did all my hygiene stuff
I walked out & went to my room & got dressed
I sat infront of my mini mirror & started my makeup

I turned my head & saw it was amoura & the guy from the corner store.

"Girl" she said as they walked in

"Uh I guess yo moms said come here first then go to pearlies house" she said talking about my grandma
She doesn't like grandma so she calls her by her government name

I laughed
Auntie yoyo is like two years or three years older than us
So she's the chill auntie
My grandma had three girls & one boy
So there's my mom savi then amoura's mom savannah then yolane which is aunt yoyo then rice.
Yes she did name her son rice
"How's cali" I asked her

The downstairs neighbor said as he was at the mailboxes

I got into her 2020 Nissan Altima
They both looked back at me
I put my seatbelt on

"Girl do you not know who that Nigga is uht uh" i said pulling my phone out

My mom was pregnant a year ago around this time
She was three months along she would've had a baby by this one guy named morty who's in his 50's
& was very abusive
They was dating for about four years when she got pregnant
"Chile so anyways" amoura said as we pulled up to this big ass house that was all white
"Damnn" me & amoura said
"Right Damn" yoyo said parking the car & getting out
I unbuckled my seatbelt & opened the car door
As I was getting out the car my phone started vibrating
I closed the car door & grabbed my phone & saw it was my grandma calling
I answered
"Hello grandma" I said following behind Amoura into the big ass house
"Where y'all at?" She asked
"Um picking up yoyo's boyfriend" i said
"Uh y'all need to hurry up I'm over here slaving over this stove & nobody's answering the phone nor are they here helping me" she said into the phone
"Okay we're on our way" I said

I took the phone away from my ear & just stared at the phone in pure shock

I put my phone in the back of my pant pocket & opened the door to the house
As I walked in there was this tall ass guy standing in the hallway he was brownskin & had a bun in his hair with an all black tech on
I closed the door
He looked up from his phone down at me

"Hi" I said smiling
"Excuse me sorry" I said walking past him

I walked through a all white long ass hallway
Once I got to the end of the hall I made it to a kitchen & dining area where amoura was sitting
"Girl" she said looking at me from her phone
"What" I asked her sitting with her at the table
"I'm trying to figure out how she get the money for this" she said
"That's moni?" I asked her pointing down the hall where the guy was still standing & was on his phone
"Nah that's his little brother" she said
I nodded my head
"Grandma just yelled at me then hung up in my face" I said
"For what? They always messing with you & you don't be doing shit" she asked with a mug on her face
"Because nobody is answering her calls & she's over there cooking & shit & nobody's there to help her then she said nobody's eating" I said
"Ion like that shit they gon stop taking they anger out on you Erin this shit outta control because that's not yo problem you're fucking 17" she said raising her voice a little
"It's okay we just should get over there soon because it's bout to be some shit" I said
"Mmcht man YOLANE" she yelled out for aunt yoyo
After a few seconds she came down the stairs
"Wussup why we yelling" she asked as her curly hair was up in a ponytail
I just stared at her
"We gotta go so I can cuss them out because I'm tired of them talking to Erin the way they do" amoura said standing up putting her purse back around her
"It's fine Bro we just gotta get to grandmas house now" I said standing up too
"Wait what?" Aunt yoyo said as she looked back as another brownskin walked up to aunt yoyo
"We gotta go" I said
"Oh okay" she said
"Well guys this is moni & moni this is my nieces amoura & Erin" she said pointing at both of us
He threw us a head nod
I waved & amoura you know is being amoura

Me & Aunt yoyo looked at her like she was crazy
"Anyways & that's his brother Tee" she said talking about the guy from the hallway
I waved at him too amoura didn't say anything
"You have the key" moni asked her
"Yeah you driving?" She asked him

I looked at amoura & amoura looked at me
We walked off behind everyone

I looked at her

"Erin can you press a number so the door can lock" aunt yoyo said to me

I heard the door locking
Amoura looked at me
"What" I asked her

I just stared at her
"Why you always want me to talk to them first & shit" I asked her walking to the car
"Because you're my down bitch & you'll do anything for me pooh" she said kissing my cheek opening the car door & getting in
She moved to the middle & i just rolled my eyes & got in behind aunt yo-yo's seat
Moni drove off
"Yo moms call yall yet?" Aunt yoyo asked them
"Nah" moni said shaking his head
"You?" She asked tee looking back
"No" he said looking at his phone
"She's gon call don't trip" she said as she started playing in moni's dreads

She nodded her head
I smiled because their so cute
My phone started ringing again
Everyone looked back at me
My eyes widened
I looked at the caller Id & it was my mom
I sighed preparing myself to get yelled at
I pressed answer
"Hello" I said as I put the phone up to my ear
"Where are you?" She asked me
"On our way to grandmas" I said
"Don't bother just come back to the fucking house" she said with her New York accent coming out
My mom is from New York. She moved down here when she was 15
& my dad is from here Chicago Illinois he was an Asian that was born & raised in the hood
"Why" I asked her

I just stared at the phone in my hand again

Amoura looked down at my arm too & she just stared at it

They was all watching the football game
I waved at everyone else

I just walked to the kitchen where I saw my mom & aunt savannah talking

I put my head down & continued to the front door

Zay & some other girls was outside sitting on the steps

I walked out the door to the apartments
I looked around for his car
Until I spotted a 2020 all black bmw M340
I walked across the parking lot to the car
I knocked on the window because I couldn't see shit

He rolled the window down
He looked up at me
"What" I asked him bending down in the window

He looked at me with a certain look
