the beautiful morning sun filtered through the curtains of y/n's room. lance hadn’t left her side since last night. after what she told him yesterday, she had fallen asleep in his arms, her breathing soft and steady against his chest. He had stayed awake for hours, just holding her, marveling at how someone so good, so pure, could trust him with her heart.

now, as y/n began to stir, lance gently brushed a strand of hair from her face. She blinked up at him, her eyes still heavy with sleep but warm and full of trust.

“Good morning,” he said softly, his voice filled with affection.

She smiled, the kind of smile that made his heart do somersaults. “Good morning,” she replied, her voice light and sweet.

“I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you,” she added, sitting up slightly and smoothing her hair.

Lance shook his head, his smile reassuring. “I didn’t mind. Best sleep I’ve ever had, honestly.”

y/n blushed, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink that lance found utterly endearing. “You’re too sweet.”

“No,” he said, taking her hand in his. “You’re the sweet one. I’m just lucky to be here with you.”

y/n’s heart fluttered at his words. She wasn’t used to this someone caring for her so deeply, someone making her feel like she was the most important person in the world.

“Hey,” he said suddenly, his eyes lighting up with an idea. “I have an idea. Do you trust me?”

She tilted her head, curious but intrigued. “Of course I do.”

“Good. Come with me,” he said, standing and pulling her gently to her feet.

y/n followed him out to his truck, her curiosity growing as he helped her into the passenger seat. The drive was quiet but comfortable, with Lance sneaking glances at her every so often, his heart swelling at how beautiful and serene she looked.

When they finally arrived. y/n gasped. He had taken her to a quiet meadow on the outskirts of town, the kind of place that looked like it belonged in a fairy tale. The grass was lush and green, dotted with wildflowers, and a sparkling creek ran through the middle.

“lance,” she whispered, her eyes wide with wonder. “This is beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you,” he said with a grin, earning another blush from her.

He led her to a spot under a large oak tree, where he had laid out a blanket and a small picnic basket. y/n’s eyes softened as she realized how much thought he had put into this.

“You planned this?” she asked, her voice full of emotion.

“I wanted to do something special for you,” he admitted, sitting down beside her. “You’ve been through so much, y/n. you deserve moments like this peaceful, happy moments where you don’t have to think about anything but yourself.”

Tears pricked at her eyes, but this time they were tears of gratitude and love. She reached over, taking his hand in hers. “Thank you, Lance. This means so much to me.”

They spent the morning talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Lance was captivated by her laugh, the way her eyes lit up when she spoke about the things she loved. Y/n, in turn, found herself opening up to him in ways she never thought possible, feeling safe and cherished in his presence.

At one point, Lance pulled out a small bouquet of wildflowers he had picked earlier and handed them to her. “For you,” he said, his smile pure and sweet.

Y/n took them, her fingers brushing against his, and looked up at him with tears in her eyes. “No one’s ever done anything like this for me,” she whispered.

Lance reached out, gently brushing a tear from her cheek. “Then I’ll just have to keep doing things like this until you get used to it,” he said with a grin.

y/n laughed, her heart full. She leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, and Lance’s grin grew even wider.

“I think I’m falling for you, y/n,” he said softly, his voice filled with sincerity.

Her breath hitched, her cheeks turning pink once more. “I think I’m falling for you too, Lance.”

He reached for her hand, lacing his fingers with hers, and they sat there under the oak tree, the world fading away as they lost themselves in each other.

In that moment, everything felt perfect. For Lance, she was his angel, the one who had shown him what love truly meant. And for y/n, he was her protector, the one who made her feel seen and loved for the first time in her life.

And as they sat there, the future didn’t seem so scary anymore—not as long as they had each other.
