C23: Back streets and drunkards
The socializing ended soon after that. Well, of course it did. The small nobles feared that they would be drawn into political disputes after the memo was exposed, and the large nobles feared that they would be forced to decide which side they were on early.
Therefore, the originally scheduled dance party was cancelled at the will of the nobles in order to reexamine the nobles with whom they had a connection, taking into account the dispute between the royal family and the Prime Minister, and the princessâs birthday was brought to a close.
It was fortunate that the party ended early, so I was able to avoid Mistâs intense advances with all my might. However, I still had to return home in a state of severe mental exhaustion.
On the way home, I saw a few nobles who couldnât hide their annoyance at the noise and commotion, so I decided to take a different route before I got into trouble.
The back roads were dark and unlit, just as the name implies. At first, I felt like I was in a dream, surrounded by darkness, but as my eyes gradually adjusted to the night, I was pulled back to reality and felt like I was going through a tunnel from a fantasy world.
As I continued to walk, I heard footsteps and cursed myself for taking the back way, thinking that no one could attack me accurately in this darkness, but was relieved to find that the footsteps did not have a precise rhythm.
Some drunk guyâ¦â¦. Iâm sorry I was so alarmed. He must have been steered this far by the large amount of alcohol he consumed.
âHmmm, whoâs there?â
I heard a faltering manâs voice. Iâll ignore him. Ignore him!
âI knew you were here! I got lost and I need a ride home!â
ââ¦â¦â
âHey! Can you hear me?â
Shut the fuck up! I can hear you! Iâm ignoring you, and you know it! Thatâs why I hate drunks!
âIt seems you canât hear me. Hello?â
âShut the fuck up!â
âOh, you finally heard me! Nee-chan, give me a ride home.â
âI donât think so.â
The man tried to clasp my shoulders, but I flipped him off and he fell down. Thatâs it! Itâs now or never!
I started to run away. But a hand reaching out from behind me grabbed my foot and I fell headfirst.
âOw! What the hell are you doing?â
âPlease send me home.â
âWhy do I have to send you?â
âGive me a lift, or I wonât let go of your leg.â
I tried to shake his hand off, but he grabbed my leg with a ridiculous grip.
âIt hurts! All right, Iâm taking you home!â
Then the man loosened his hand.
âOh, yeah! Thanks, Nii-chan!â
Fuck! Seriously, itâs so annoying!
âWhere the hell am I supposed to take you?â
âI donât know!â
âWhat?â
âFor now, Iâll go to sleep!â
âSleep here, you idiot!â
I felt a sharp pain in my leg.
âIt hurts! Okay, Iâll take you!â
Afterwards, I reluctantly carried the man on my shoulders to the inn, dumped him on the floor of my room, and went to sleep.
